(there is msg in it and I've been told soup gets better as it is boiled) 2) when you break the noodle piece to fit in a bowl, you break it with directions that noodles are aligned (or they will break off into millions of smallest pieces) 3) my magic ingredient is siracha sauce. beats any other spice. 4) 2 ways of cooking egg, you can dissolve it changing the soup base. or don't break it, does not effect soup. my fav method of using egg is dump whites in ramen and put yolk on another bowl, then just dump some noodles on it (without soup) and it tastes delicious ![]() 5) most important thing about cooking ramen is amount of water you put in imo. the worst is when you have too much. you just gotta figure out what volume makes the soup you like. if you dunno which ramen to pick, Shin ramen or Nuguri are the shiznits. If you put powder it boils faster, but lowers boiling temp. Depends on what you want. Do you want to cook longer and let it get soupier by boiling off water or do you want faster cook by higher temp? You can dissolve the whites but poach the yolk if you put the egg at the last min. I like runny yolks on noodles too.

Take a small bit of the broth into a bowl, let it cool slightly, and then slowly add an egg, stirring as you add. You could just add the egg to the pot, but the heat can make the egg curdle. When done, add egg & broth mix to pot. Yum.

My favourite way of preparing shin ramen 1) boil dried anchovies (15-20) in medium heat 2) remove anchovies 3) add red powder pack 4) crack an egg whole and boil with low-med heat until it takes form 5) add dried seaweed, green onions, seafood pack (small shrimps, clams, squid, etc), tofu, and maybe cabbage 6) add noodles 7) remove from heat, beat an egg in a separate bowl, swirl on top of noodles, lid pot 8) top with sesame oil before eating

Drain water, throw away flavor packet. Add Substance, Sauce, and enjoy a tasty noodley delight without drowning in sodium. Common sources of "substance" include chicken, tuna, onions, carrots, eggs fried over hard, or whatever else was on sale the last time i went shopping. Most commonly used sauce is Peanut Sauce, but Teriyaki and curry sauces are sometimes used as well. Sriracha or Franks Red Hot are commonly added for heat. When i'm feeling decadent, i sometimes go for Chicken Bacon Ranch Ramem, or Buffalo Ramen (Chicken, Franks Red Hot, Ranch or Bleu Cheese Dressing) both of which are very tasty, but a bit too expensive for every day eating.

Done. You guys are crazy. No I'm with you. There's so much to asian/japanese noodles than ramen. I like ramen. I like all noodles, but ramen is a bit overrated. Maybe its probably cause sobas and udons are fish based soups and ramens are meaty. That fits toward western/younger preference.

Why not just use better noodles? Those noodles are fried. Might as well completely remove ramen and make good noodle.

No, I don't get sleepy from eating lots of rice, and I rarely eat too much bread. However I suppose what I consider not a lot would still be more than some other people eat at one sitting. Thanks for the answer. Ramen just makes me sleepy I guess. So does masturbation, hardcore starcraft sessions, goddamn calculus. But I have more difficulty with staying awake after eating ramen. Is what you're saying, that I am using more energy to digest, and therefore feel more tired? Because if that's the case then coffee won't help.

But its different from western cause of mineral water used. Cheap chow mein noodle would work well.

Aren't the 1 lb packages of noodles cheaper than those Ramen packets? You might have to make it into an Asian ethnic shop, and ramen does have a distinct kind of taste.
