We are extremely close to shutting down this thread for the same reasons the PUA thread was shut down. While some of the time this thread contains actual discussion with people asking help and people giving nice advice, it often gets derailed by rubbish that should not be here. The moderation team will be trying to steer this thread in a different direction from now on.
Posts of the following nature are banned: 1) ANYTHING regarding PUA. If your post contains the words 'alpha' or 'beta' or anything of that sort please don't hit post. 2) Stupid brags. You can tell us about your nice success stories with someone, but posts such as 'lol 50 Tinder matches' are a no-no. 3) Any misogynistic bullshit, including discussion about rape culture. 4) One night stands and random sex. These are basically brags that invariably devolve into gender role discussions and misogynistic comments.
Last chance, guys. This thread is for dating advice and sharing dating stories. While gender roles, sociocultural norms, and our biological imperative to reproduce are all tangentially related, these subjects are not the main purpose of the thread. Please AVOID these discussions. If you want to discuss them at length, go to PMs or start a blog. If you disagree with someone's ideologies, state that you disagree with them and why they won't work from a dating standpoint and move on. We will not tolerate any lengthy derailments that aren't directly about dating. |

I couldn't do that. Women literally do not posses the ability to be funny. Want proof? Okay, um, just stopping right there, I don't know whether to start with the logical fallacy and/or bent observation of people that this statement... is, or just the piss-poor attitude in general that spawned it. I know they say nice guys finish last, but really? I have given 3 logical deductive sound arguements that women are not funny and you have offered nothing to the contrary because there is none to be found. Don't try to argue facts that are self evident when using common sense. If you want your point to have any validity at all answer this: Why in California the most liberal state in the us, the most left wing progressive city Hollywood hires 9 men comedy writers for every 1 female comedy writer. The writing guilds would gladly hire a less funny women writer over a more funny man writer. Who's holding them back?
This is just a proof that on average there are more funny men, which is true in my opinion.
But this is not proof that a woman can't be funny. And the proof is that me and many people know at least 1 that is funny.

Who are the kind of people that argue that a few rare exceptions to the rule makes their stance valid? In in the larger scheme of things women are not funny. It's the same thing as saying women are better parents than men because they are more in touch with other people's feelings. It's proven to be true but then some person is going out and say "I know a dad who is better parent than any mom" Who does that? Please stop trying so hard to make men and women seem equal when there are vast differences between us. Women are not as good workers as men so they get paid less for doing the same job but they are also awarded custody of children 90% of the time because its much more important to have a mother in a child's life than a father. There's nothing unfair about how this system works.

Because making generalization just because something apply to a majority (sometimes subjectively) is retarded.

That post has to be a troll. I can't imagine a person legitimately taking that stance, but I will respond anyway.
A person being "funny" is highly subjective. Just because there are more men comedians than women means nothing with regards to generic humor. I've known many people that I consider way funnier than professional stand up comedians simply because I do not enjoy the comedian's type of humor. A woman is quite capable of being funny. Are you claiming that a woman has never made you laugh? Do you think that a person has to be a comedian to be considered funny?
No one is saying that women and men are equal as a whole, but there are certain things in life that gender does not affect. Also, where are you getting this information on women not being as good workers? I'm calling bs on that one as well. There are many women in my work place that work way harder than the men. Some of them work hard because they simply enjoy it. Others work hard to overcome that silly gender-biased stereotype. A vagina and boobs does not hinder ones ability to do most of today's professions.

You said:

There is only one way to parse that statement: there is not a single woman who is able to perform any action that may be considered funny.
And that's obviously false. It's true that the funniest people I know of are men, and it's true that I find the average man to be more funny than the funniest woman, but it is very far from the truth that no woman ever did something funny. And you know it.

Does that make it true that women on average are good workers? No it doesn't. I dated a dozen girls before her that were dumber than a box of rocks and couldn't hold a job to save their lives. 45 out of the top 50 companies on the Dow Jones have male CEO's. I don't see many women planning to build the next Golden Gate Bridge or Empire State Building any time soon either.

I don't see many men doing that either. Comparing "women in general" to some very ambitious/successful ventures is rather silly because the general populous... not just women... don't match up

How about we all stop going around in circles and end this retarded Mexican standoff by agreeing to disagree?

I'll agree to disagree with stupid generalizations yes.

Id like to disagree with that.

I don't date nor befriend women who aren't funny. to say women aren't funny is funny. funny in a stupid and asinine way.

In related news, I'd definitely date Sarah Silverman.

perhaps the problem isn't "women" and the problem is "sexists like you who reinforce the patriarchial society we live in."

All corporations care about is making money. If they could get away with hiring only women employees and paying them 70% of a mans salary for doing the exact same job they would. Why don't they do that if women are good workers?
