I was doing math homework and I sneezed twice. My friend said "you are turning into me, I always sneeze twice". I replied "I always sneeze twice as well".
It will be interesting to survey how many times do people usually sneeze. Let's pretend we are in an environment with no dust, allergy, or chills. Just on a normal day, under normal conditions, if you happen to sneeze, how many times? Please vote below your best estimate.
Apparently, sudden exposure to bright light can also cause one to sneeze, according to Wikipedia. I wonder if it is true for any of you? I've never experienced it.

How could you have never experienced it? How old are you lol. That's prob happened to me at least 100 times and I'm only like 20.
Ya, I have sun-sneezed. Typically after walking into pretty intense sunlight without any form of gradiant, just, boom, sunlight, wait two seconds, then sneeze.
Twice, right after each other.. I have this bad habbit of trying to hold it in, so it just sounds like "AAAARRRARRARRRANNNNGFGGGGGGGHHHH"-"AAAARRRARRARRRANNNNGFGGGGGGGHHHH" - Then followed by facial spasms..
Needless to say, I look and sound completely retarded when I sneeze
I think the bright light sneezing thing doesn't happen in everyone. I've had it happen hundreds of times in my 19 year long life but I've mentioned it and had some people look at me like I'm crazy...

I hang out sometimes over night with friends at IOS internet cafe (appearantly TLO and MorroW hang out there as well ^_^), and when you get out from a more or less dark hall to a the bright sunlight I always sneeze. It has to be sunlight though, and from relative darkness into bright sunlight for me to sneeze, but I almost always do during those circumstances. I think it's like that for 30% of the population or something like that.
Edit. Once. Always once. I tend to hold back the second one.
Weird, I was thinking about asking this just the other day to TL while walking back from class. I almost consistently sneeze twice in the same breath when exposed to sunlight/ bright lights, a "double sneeze" if you will. I know only my grandmother on my dad's side also has this trait.
What I would like to ask you all though is have you ever had a long chain of sneezes? I am talking six or more within a pretty short time frame during regular conditions (such as your room or office). I've hit ten at least twice within these last two weeks and that's been pretty standard throughout my life.
Sucks on how hot I feel after it though, and teachers would always send me out of the room so they could talk.
Always twice unless I actively try to resist the second sneeze.
Eating mints makes me sneeze (twice) as well. Does this happen to anyone else? All my friends think I'm weird for sneezing in pairs and being unable to eat mints without sneezing.
yep, looking at bright light can trigger sneezing or help you sneeze. i actually learnt the medical explanation for it a while ago, but i've long since forgotten haha
i thought i always sneeze once, but now that i think about it, it may be twice. will have to think about it next time i sneeze haha. i have really bad hay fever.

I thought it was universal too. I was astounded when some of my friends didn't know what I was talking about when I told them that bright light does that to me almost every time.
Always at least twice - three times is not uncommon for me though. I sneeze a lot on the train every morning for some reason, I cannot figure out what it is about the train that makes me sneeze
Well, since I'm a popular guy and people talk about me all of the time I sneeze a lot. jk XD (in case you didn't know, iirc in Japan people believe that when you sneeze it means that someone is talking about you.)
Both my sister and I always sneeze 3 times, and I often sneeze as a result of sudden exposure to bright light. (probably happens to me about once a week)
Well, that is funny. I always sneeze at least 2 time and I was wondering about other ppls sneezing. I rarely sneeze 3 times and it is mostly when Im really ill. But one sneeze is just not enough
I hope the guy recording that video was behind a salad guard, that's a lot of flying mucus!
Always sneeze in pairs, but rarely more than a few times a week, unless it's apple blossom season. When my hay fever goes mental, and unfortunately I live in a County famous for apples...
dont know how many times i sneeze after the 1st, but im sure glad that if there is some tissues or toilet paper near me, il sneeze into that lol as you know, sneezing seems to cause large amounts of weird fluids to exit the facial area lol
I have never sneezed less than 3 times, and I typically sneeze 5 or more. I have sneezed 9 times consecutively before, my girlfriend was extremely concerned.

Ha, mint chewing gum makes my boss sneeze, interesting!
9 out of 10 is just one sneeze, never more than 2. My girlfriend though is a chain-sneezer, she sneezes 4-5 times
sometimes when i sneeze (not particularly infrequently either) i sneeze like.. 7-14 times. i think that this is sometimes triggered by brushing my teeth (mint?).
bright lights make me sneeze.
i'm just a sneeze-a-holic apparently.
edit: not a machine-gun chain sneezing like some people do though, mine strings out over 5ish mins.
I used to always sneeze at least twice, so I didn't know whether to pick 2, 3 or 4+. Nowadays, especially when I'm not in front of someone whom I have to give a shit with my manners about, I'd shout pretty loud as I sneezed, both to make it epic and that it actually helps me remove the crave for a 2nd one. You guys should try it.
Yes I have the condition that whenever I go out into sunlight from a dark room, I sneeze, every single time. I first noticed it as a kid when I would leave church with my mom and I would always sneeze. Still happens to this day, and I'm 20.
When I have no particular reason to sneeze (aka a cold) I sneeze twice. Always. And looking into a bright light won't initiate a sneeze, but it'll help me sneeze when I already need to sneeze.
Once, and I hate people who sneeze more than twice. It isn't their fault, really, but I hate it, hate it, hate it.
Haha that sounds just like me :p My brother has an annoying habit of sneezing like 5 times in a row and I get so annoyed by it for no reason at all.
Saw this thread earlier today. Thought about it and realized I don't know how many time I sneeze. Later on (now) I sneezed due to something(??). :D Quickly opened thread and times I sneeze is...
I have varying number of sneezes, 1-3, don't think I've ever had 4.

I have a friends who does the same thing! He always sneezes when eating mints, although, only after the first one. Not for every mint afterwards.
One thing I loved about large lecture classes was watching people "sneeze" but try their best to be super quiet about it. They end up making some ridiculous fart noise with their nose and lips. Or just some completely contorted funny as hell face.
There's a co-worker of mine that, when he sneezes once, he goes into a sneezing fit for the next minute. So annoying but he can't help it.
I sneeze twice almost every time unless I have a bad cold or something, in which case I can sneeze any number of times (once every few minutes or 5 times in a row).
The reason some people sneeze from looking at bright lights is because the optic nerve runs very close to the nerve that trigger sneezing. So a sudden change in light my graze the other nerve and trigger a sneeze.
I do have rather intense environmental allergies (pollen, animal dander, etc) so yeah. Sometimes it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or more. I can't say I've really sneezed 10 times in a row, but I have had sneezing fits and honestly, it feels crazy good when it is over. It's like an orgasm (although the process up to it was unpleasant).
Never noticed if I have sneezed at bright lights, but I'm sure now some psychological effect will take place and I will end up doing it.
I never get the double sneeze or one immediately after the other. I hardly sneeze, but when I start sneezing it is usually upto 5-6 times over a period of a couple minutes.
I sneeze 2 times usually but only like ...75% of all my sneezes. Though recently my sneezes have seriously started bothering me beacuse after I have sneezed it starts to smell real bad inside my nose and noone seems to know why
Where's the option for random on this poll? I go anywhere from 1,2,3,4+ no real dominating number. Its just completely random so I kinda hate sneezing since I never know how long I will go
Twice is the usual for me and once in a while I get insane streaks.
That sneezing while entering bright light scenario sounds pretty interesting, need to remember that and pay attention if it ever happens to me. Sounds so random.
2-2 times if it's just a regular sneeze from dust or whatever. Now if I eat chocolate or mint I will sneeze 5 or 6 times in a rapid succession. It sucks. When I have a sneeze that won't come out it is soooo annoying, I just look at the sun and it comes right out.

Every time i walk outside here in california, actually just in the morning usually, i sneeze but ONE time. I always get the feeling and then i just look a little towards the sky the BAMMM. It feels amazing

I heard a long time ago that it's evolutionary from our ancestors walking out of a cave. The sudden exposure to light made them sneeze out all the dangerous fumes/bacteria etc from sleeping in the cave.
It's rare that I'll go above or below 2, but it does happen. Not sure why. I think my default setting is 2, but particular circumstances dictate deviation from that (e.g. something is still wedged up there after 2 sneezes).
Haha, I actually talked to one of my friends the other day about this because she sneezes 3 times usually. My brother has a few allergies and used to sneeze 8 times or so if it were the wrong (or right) time of the year.
I always sneeze twice and I also sneeze sometimes when stepping outside into bright light; a few of my friends do too, ha.
I sneeze three times, lately it's been two. I have a friend who sneezes more than 8 times though, it's crazy. They sound like the smallest weakest sneezes ever.
Twice, most of the time. I hate winter, because whenever I go or look outside on a sunny day, I'll sneeze out of nowhere. It's annoying, but nothing major.

Nope! You're weird as hell! When the seasons (seasonal allergies -_- BUT BENADRYL IS AWESOME <3) come I'll chain sneeze 3-5(6) times~ but usually.. probably once every other day or something?
On October 05 2011 09:26 jinorazi wrote: on a related note, how do girls sneeze like a tiny tire squeak?
my sneeze sounds like a superman flyby, lady sneezes have always intrigued me.
It happens when you try your hardest to suppress your sneeze lol.
6-8 times. without fail. Usually it takes place over the course of 2 mins. Standard situation is Sneeze! "Bless you!" Sneeze! "Bless you!" Sneeze! " Oh my word! Bless you!" Sneeze! Sneeze! Sneeze! STFU!
Twice. Approximately 100% of the time I walk out into the sun. And if it's a bright cloudy day, that can get me going too. It's why I always make sure I got my sunglasses. >.>
If I lightly squeeze halfway up my nose a few times I can sometimes sneeze too. I got mad sneezin skillz.
Does anybody else sneeze after walking out into bright sunlight? This happens to me and a few friends of mine and I was wondering if it was a common thing. Edit: Whoops, people just said that...nvm. And I thinks it's due to the squinting and the wrinkling of the nose, but that's just a prediction.

Almost always twice, usually in quick succession but sometimes with a couple second gap.
Also, regarding the sneezing in reaction to the sunlight: it's genetic. Weird huh? Apparently there's a gene that will cause you to sneeze when you're suddenly exposed to the sunlight.
I usually sneeze 3 times in a row. It's pretty satisfying, surprisingly. I really hate the feeling that you get when you want to sneeze but for some reason, it just won't come out.
1. But allergies are pretty significant to this...dust will cause a ton more if you need to sneeze once you've sneezed once, and eating dairy will increase mucus and make you sneeze more also.
