You have no fucking idea how much they drink. Are you operating under the assumption that law students are the only ones who benefit from birth control? :p

The better examples are the commerce clause cases, particularly Wickard v. Filburn where the Court said that the government had the power to apply and enforce wheat supply quotas for the purpose of regulating the price of wheat nationally. However, this is still a little bit different because it's a restraint on production rather than a affirmative mandate to buy or sell. (As I have said elsewhere, the Supreme Court is probably going to gut Wickard when it rules on Obamacare). They're not different in that the justification was Article I Section 8 of the Constitution which says "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the [...] general Welfare of the United States". The Supreme court could very well argue that this section also applies to what we're talking about.

On the latter point, I can say with some authority that female law students tend to be fairly defective on a personal level. Don't get me wrong, many of them are brilliant and make great lawyers, but it's those same traits that make them horrible people to date. Unfortunately, I didn't figure that one out until half way through law school.

The sad thing is that he's actually intelligent, but he has such severe personality defects.

I know for damn sure the guy is smart, but he also knows what he's doing by sensationalizing things, it serves as exploitation of emotions for viewership numbers. The key to is to balance it just enough and not go overboard too many times (like our old friends Glenn Beck or Keith Olbermann).

Same with Bill O'Reilly or Glenn Beck, to varying degrees. It's the social conservative base that's screwed up. If there's enough demand for a product, someone who can supply it will.

Yes, but it hurts the relationship between deep social conservatives and moderates/libertarians. Even Santorum and Boehner are criticizing it now.

And the only answer is he articulates "the cause" well? What exactly is "the cause"? Genuinely curious what this is. All I can think of is sarcasm :-/

I mean I think he would actually need some sort of incentive to back off this kind of thing. It's not like he's going to lose advertising from this. OH WAIT: Rush Limbaugh in hot water with sponsors after 'slut' remark

You're probably right, but I'm not sure that it matters in practice. Until moderate conservatives and libertarians start voting for Democrats or Libertarian Party candidates, the deep social conservatives can say and do basically whatever they want as long as the keep taxes low.

all this outrage against him using the word "slut" is especially funny when it's thrown by people who have made fun of rush for his weight, his drug addiction, his perscription to viagra, his hearing loss, his wife, etc. edit: apparently it's ok to call people retarded, stupid, idiots, etc. but when rush calls someone a name, it's suddenly the end of the world...

Yea, it's great being able to say stupid shit with absolutely no consequences because you're a politician who isn't running for office, but for a bigger bank account. And by great I of course mean is one of the main reasons American politics are so fucking retarded. It's the Sarah Palin effect, the dumber shit you spew, the richer you get! What a great country.

Personally, I don't give a damn what Rush says. It's just entertainment, and sometimes it's funny. People point out his drug addiction / weight / viagra use etc because he's a fucking hypocrite to say the things he does about other people while having those things going on in his own life.
