The prosecution refused to subpoena the records from Fuentes' studio or even allow a copy of Fuentes' ID into evidence.
Thus, Simon-Timmerman's hope lay in one long-shot gamble: Little Lupe herself would have to fly to Puerto Rico, show her passport to the prosecutor, and testify under oath that she was really, really not 13 years old. Silly? Yes, but anyone who insists that societies will behave entirely rationally has been smoking a bit too much of the reefer. Though, what we do as a society is not entirely without merit. Realistically, there's no clear dividing line between what should be acceptable and what shouldn't be acceptable. Different people mature at different rates both physically and mentally, but law is typically not so flexible.
Nevertheless, in my opinion there should be different dividing lines. A man who has relations with a slightly "underage" girl might not even realize she was underage and might not be doing anything wrong. On the other hand, a man who does something to a girl whose age is expressed in fewer than two digits is one sick, sick bastard.

This is beyond fucked up. I can't believe that the justice system is retarded enough to let someone spend 8 months in jail for that. I've seen "little lupe" on porn sites and shit, and yes, she looks like shes fucking 15, but honestly youd think you would check before putting someone in jail for 8 months... I would want at least 4-500k in compensation for that bullshit.
