That's actually pretty true now that i think about it. :O
Same here haha
Rooney also takes Man U penalties which does make Drogbas stats for the season a bit more impressive
uhh since when is a goal in injury time of the semi finals of a major cup against a team from the same city not a big goal?

Admittedly, Rooney is having a better year than I thought. I'd still rather have Drogba on my team any day of the week as a forward. Drogba has been so god damn clutch for Chelsea the last 5 years its unbelievable. If Drogba didn't have a pouting problem that one year he'd be a 50 million euro player. Rooney just gets unbelievable attention because of the announcers. This is the first year he's truly impressed and I still think he's overrated. Rooney is just as likely to do NOTHING for 10 games as he is to score every game for 10 games. If you're playing a champions league match you know Drogba is gonna score. Cup final? Drogba is getting two.
Games where Rooney does really well:
England v Slovakia - 2 Goals, 0 assists England v Andorra - 2 goals, 0 assists England v Croatia - 1 goal, 1 assist MU v Wigan - 2 goals, 0 assists MU v Portsmouth - 3 goals, 0 assists MU v Hull City - 4 goals, 0 assists
Games where Drogba does really well:
CFC v Hull - 2 goals, 0 assists Ivory Coast v Burkina Faso - 2 goals, 0 assists CFC v Athletico Madrid (Champ League) - 2 goals, 0 assists CFC v Arsenal - 2 goals, 0 assists CFC v Everton - 2 goals, 0 assists CFC v Arsenal - 2 goals, 0 assists
BIG GAMES: MU v Chelsea [Community Shield] - 1 goal MU v Arsenal - 1 goal MU v City [Cup] - 1 goal MU v Chelsea - 0 goals MU v Everton - 0 goals MU v Aston Villa - 0 goals MU v City - 1 assist MU v City - 1 goal MU v Arsenal - 1 goal
Chelsea v Inter [World Football Challenge] - 1 goal Chelsea v AC Milan [World Football Challenge] - 1 goal Chelsea v MU [Community Shield] - 1 assist Chelsea v Tottenham - 1 goal, 1 assist Chelsea v Liverpool - 2 assists Chelsea v Aston Villa - 1 goal Chelsea v MU - 0 goals, 0 assists
to be honest, defense > offense seems to happen a lot of the time at the very high level, and a lot of star strikers end up disappointing on the big stage.
Eto'o and Drogba are like the only two center forwards who seem to shine on the big stage in past years (I'm sure i'm forgetting someone, sorry)
The thing about Rooney that makes him a little better than Drogba is his ability to play make as well as his eye for goal. Rooney has the ability to come all the way back to the defense win a ball and then ping it 50 yards across the field perfectly for a counter and still somehow get up the field with the play. Drogba is an amazing forward but is definitely not a great passer like Rooney is.
Overall, I think it's interesting how few of the big clubs use "real" target-men. All-around athleticism seems to be favored over specifically the ability to head balls and jump high. Even Drogba does a lot of running out to the flanks (even though his best ability is to draw fouls around 25~30 yards from goal while fighting for a header).
It wasn't the fact that China won. It was that it took them 32 years to do so and at such a strange time.
China failed to win a single match against Korea despite at times have equal or dare i say better talents. 32 fucking years.
It got so bad that CCTV (The national TV channel and probably the most influential and who had always supported guozu) refused to broadcast the matches because the government feared that a typical suckage will piss off people who are getting ready for a happy Chinese new year. LOL
Chinese football has being a huge under performer ever since professional football leagues were created in China.
They failed at WC, Asian Cup and now are having trouble beating third tier Asian teams and prior to this tournament (EAFC) had absolutely zero chance of beating any top Asian teams. It used be just koreaphobia... then it started to look like just X phobia with X being variable that can be any team.
Government of China even started an investigation on football circles on rumors of fixed matches etc..
Again, you can see how China works. When the government turns its gaze. Shit will happen.
