EDIT: Fucking finished and sorted. To put it bluntly, unless you can reasonably expect to FC the majority of insanes on your first couple attempts (or at least where FCing insanes isn't noteworthy anymore), your PP isn't going to really reflect your level at all, and rank isn't important if you can't really play the game yet. :/ And lag? What lag are you even talking about, osu is played client side. If there's lag during gameplay it's your computer or your osu settings. Go into your options and try clicking the 'low end PC' box, and set your frame limiter to Unlimited (gameplay). | ||

I've been playing since February 2012, but I took a really long break for like 6 months. I only have about 2k games played though, so I guess I still am a bit new. The lag is just random. One moment it's completely fine and smooth, the next everything starts lagging but my FPS is normal (it rests at 1,000-1,500 all the time). I don't think it's my computer. I have a pretty high-end computer (12GB RAM, AMD 6750, i7 960 processor), so I really doubt that's the problem. However, I did switch to OpenGL and that seems to have solved it temporarily. I guess we will see. Edit: LOL I finally figured out the PP thing. I downloaded a map that was ranked today, got #64 because it's new, and now I jumped 20,000 ranks up. Buahaha. | ||

To be honest, with that setup you should be able to run about 10 osu clients at the same time smoothly... Try playing around with the frame limiter a bit (spam F7 and see which one works the best). Also pop-ups like mail notifications seem to lag my osu a lot aswell, other than that.. do you see any correlation in the lag or is it seriously random? Also, screw pp, just play and see yourself improve old scores and feel good about it instead of getting depressed by a stagnant pp rank. | ||

Buahaha. 2k plays is barely anything at all. I have nearly 14k plays (and there are people with 60k+ plays out there). I'm currently rank 18k, though I was as high as 14k before I switched to playing mania. I've had issues (and still do) with random lag in osu. I play on 120fps limit (unlimited seems to make the lag more random and worse), I have low-end PC selected. | ||

Well, new songs give high pp due to being placed high really fast, but you'll prolly lose some over time aswell. generally, playing difficult/and or populair songs and fc'ing (or getting a high score) yields the most pp - of course, having a good acc is important aswell. edit: mandatory shitty score: + Show Spoiler + ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/wjyRPTb.jpg) fun fact: 2 pp for that ololol pp farmer. | ||

If so, i'd be very happy! I've been having quite some trouble with songs with this approach rate. As well as the sometimes ridiculous jump sequences. But still, i started a few days ago at 50% with this song, so it's quite an improvement. | ||

I'm not playing standard till I get a mousepad I can play on though my current one (and my desk) have spots where my mouse doesnt track properly, which causes it to drift farther than it should... sometimes right into the laptop. | ||
