This thread says it's in progress though. That's the top 25 players of osu! in general, not the top TL players :p PanzerElite wrote: Hey, is 1650 dpi on 1280X1024 considered high mouse sensitivity? Otherwise I'm going to crank up speed bit by bit again. Most high level mouse players use really low sensitivity, around the ranges shooter pro's use. (we're talking about 300-600 dpi with no multiplication). Of course there are exceptions but it's usually at least less than 1000 dpi. I'm currently using 600 myself. I'd like to try a lower sensitivity but I'm physically unable too since my table isn't big enough.... Though end of the day: "Just use what you're most comfortable with."

It's completely down to personal preference. I've always played better with higher sensitivity and find anything below 1.5k irritating to use. Right now I'm using 2.5k.

Right now I'm using 2.5k. I used to run 3500 DPI at 1366x768. I could move across my entire screen is just over 1cm of movment. However, I found that despite that, it was extremely difficult to hit full screen jumps. After a lot of debate, I switched down to 1800 and saw a very quick improvement in my jumps after I started to get used to the speed. Although it's entirely possible to be extremely accurate at high DPI, it's hard, because the physical size of your destination is much smaller, so your hand movements need to be extraordinarily precise. Some people might be able to do well at high DPI, but I would actually suggest not going too high. Also, WTF, people can play this stuff? Even Entozer can't pass this in o2jam (though at life drain 5 he can in osu!mania lol)

but then again a lot of o2jam/stepmania/etc stuff is mapped that way so i shouldn't be surprised

Remember, most maps for o2jam that aren't aimed at pro players are in the lvl 1-30 range (anything above 30 is pretty much considered to be for pros) and this is a level 144 chart (and trust me, most maps that claim to be 100+ aren't really that hard, this one is legit for it's level.) I definitely understand the aversion most people have for overmapped charts, but I'm actually finding them a lot of fun to practice on, because they employ some really tricky patterns that are good training. Also, I think osu players think other music games tend to "overmap" everything, even if they're not overmapping but just accurately following multiple rhythms at once making for a chart more complex than osu and taiko allow...

RLC is pro at mapping. His maps so fun. Also great song picks, <3 infected. 209bpm. OD8. 1/4 sliderjumps is jolly good (418bpm sliders? Big Black got nothing on this). Starts easy. Gets crazy on 2:37. Omg why am I so bad, how to play :v Spaced 209bpm streams a little hard... zzz RLC best mapper of all times, seriously, this is so fun. <3 <3

I'd say not so fast, but since there's still only 1 ranked mania map, and I don't play autoconverts, I don't see my rank getting much higher any time soon.

Most overmapped o2jam charts are a LOT worse than that one is. Well I did say it was definitely overmapped, but you could make a PRETTY complex chart with that song anyway. The only reason I'm really defending it at all is that after having played it and paying attention to when and where the patterns are in it, they actually kinda make sense (especially when compared to most other overmapped o2jam charts I've seen). I went back and played some stepmania again and realized just how many charts don't accurately represent the music, but despite that, they're still fun and tastefully done (mostly). Crossing Field just kinda took the idea of using patterns that didn't fully match the music and went all out with it, emphasizing pattern over trying to match the music perfectly. Its kinda hard to explain exactly why I don't hate it... On February 16 2013 05:18 CAPSLOCKLOL wrote: To anyone here who plays/played stepmania: did you guys play mostly spread or index charts? And if you do still play, what packs do you generally play from? http://houkouonchi.net:8080/packs/ Reach, Eggman, Izzy, Kilga, Toph, Arch0wl originals, Keyboard Megapack 1.5, Community Megapack 1 and 2 are basicaly my minimum requirements lol. There are still other packs there worth getting too. I usually play spread, though I went through various different styles before I hit spread. i think now pretty much all of those would be considered index charts, since they rarely ever used more than 2 keys at once, but in many cases they weren't actually specifically made for index style play (some patterns are very hard for index even if they still only involve 1 or 2 keys.
