It has immense DPS capabilities and has an effective 40km kill zone around a gate. I would NOT take on a typhoon solo in anything other than a typhoon, the things are insane. The problem with a typhoon and why their reputation isn't what it should be is because it takes a stupid amount of skill in both points and piloting to make it effective. You need tech 2 large guns, tech 2 torpedos, most gunnery support to level 5, most missile support to level 5, tech 2 drones, high armor skills, high engineering/energy vamp skills...but once you have those it's a god damn killing machine. We're talking like 1300 DPS with 110k EHP here. Or if you prefer you can have a neutralizer variant that rapes anything smaller than a BS with complete impunity.
In support of this statement, look at the longstanding #1 Loadout on BattleClinic. http://eve.battleclinic.com/browse_loadouts.php or more specifically: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/26047-PvP-Typhoon-1349dps-110k-HP.html

Also I am quitting EVE because I won. The reimbursement fund had better last longer this time. I mean, I am putting in 3.5b this time. A good portion of the fund went towards paying alliance sov fees, and the "Corp" JF. Don't worry we'll keep it safe!
Did any of the reimbursement fund go into the Ark? I thought me, you, revo, rosa, yul and vil just ponied up.
Regardless, this new injection will be spent on hookers and blow.

Having played Eve off and on for damn near ever, I can say that this corporation has its priorities straight. Anyone that joins it will be well pleased with their isk being spent on the PROPER amenities of Eve.

Oh, and tbh Yul, I'd have to say that Minny BS are far superior for non-fleet bs applications.
You're spot on about the first part. If I was fc'ing a close range rrbs blob, I'd want all abaddons and geddons, ideally. If I was going for 100k rrbs or 180 snipers I would want apocs. They're just that good.
But for roaming gangs, the nano Pest and Mach are unbeatable.
As far as 1v1 bs competitions (someone should dig up Garmon's loltastic raping of Jade Constatine) the phoon is without question the strongest t1, nonfaction bs.

There's also a good chance that one of the directors will snatch all the assets and buy a hulk fleet. Since this is the dream of all of our directors, I can't really hazard a guess as to who would be the most likely to actually go thru with it.

a hulk fleet?
Clearly every mans dream right there

Its official, once I scramble up the money (aka donate blood, through my proxy blood donor, my brother) I will have enough money to activate my accounts!
Step 1: Activate accounts step 2 : join TL corp step 3 : ? step 4 : steal hulk fleet and ransom off the lowest bidder! step 5 : win....?

tempest is shit for rr fleets. either no tank or no dmg. minmatar generally suck in rrbs fleets (except very small fleets where typhoon is pretty good). actually everything sucks in rrbs fleets compared to amarr. and even with the arties buff, apoc is still way ahead in sniper fleets.

Ah, great.... I go inactive in EVE because of the SC2 beta, and now that phase one ended I find an EVE thread on TL.net.

1v1 bs battles are more dependent on who outsmarts who in the ewar battle and little else. Fit your tempest with tracking disruptors and you're all set.
As far as best solo bs goes I tihnk it's the geddon. Just because lasers are frickin' awesome. Roaming gangs on the other hand require shield tanked ships so obviously the pest is better. Although I remeber a drunken discussion about how awesome shield tanked sniper apocs would be, the participants were really embarresed the next day.
Edit: That typhoon fit isn't bad but it's hard to grasp HOW GOOD a heavy neut is. It's -600 cap at 24km range --> really really really awesome. And the dps drops a lot when fighting targets smaller that you that can stay out of scram range.
|
It's not hard to grasp how good a heavy neut is but there is no cap to nuet when the target is dead. The typhoon is simply far more versatile than a geddon fuck lasers...i miss that one patch where they actually sucked. Other than that they've always been good because of how ridiculous pulse lasers are.
and meh on the tempest being bad in rrbs. I still think that at a certain size fleet the sheer alpha is better but meh. Fly your lousy amarr ships if you must.

How is a typhoon MORE versatile when it has LESS utility, does LESS dmg vs smaller targets and can't go from fight to another fight without docking and repping up inbetwen. The only way it's more versatile is that it has 50m3 more drone space for a flight or warrior II's and a flight or Hornet ecm's or something.

I believe it was 1 bil me, 1 bil revo, 800-900mil isk you?, 300/400 from 2 other corp mates (its in mail somewhere/revo knows) and 1 bil corp. IIRC the ark was 5.2 bil isk

Now i have been reading on this forum for a couple of months (mostly about SC:BW / SC II), and this thread actually got me started on EVE (3. try) - and this it by far the longest i have played (just payed for 1 month). I have trained most of my "learning" skills to IV and, have started slowly on getting some combat skills and so on. I havent yet ventured into anything below 0.5, but i was hoping that i soon will have the courage to loose my first ship But before im going to do that i would like to read a little up on pvp technique, but i have had a hard time finding anything that really goes into some of the diffrent pvp techniques - only thing really worth reading so far have been the Rifter Drifter Guide, but its about 2years old so i thought its probably a little outdated. So if someone had some decent links with info i would appreciate it.

Started an Amarr character because Infidel holocaust via laser is more fun than launching missles at stuff. That being said I am training up to pilot an Amarr Maller. Is the Maller good for pvp? It looks pretty dandy but I AM a noob

Join SCBW and ask for pvp tips in there. Or you could convo "Gordon Alexander", he'll tell you how to pvp and things you shouldn't do in pvp based on first hand experience.
Edit: Maller is great in pvp as a bait ship. It can field the most impressive tank out of all the cruisers in the game, but its damage leaves a lot to be desired, but damage is still damage in the end so its not too bad. The maller isn't really meant to go out and chase down other ships though, it mostly has to wait for ships to come to it or fly in some cruiser type gang.
|
Maller is ALWAYS BAIT. nuff said :D
--- As for losing your ship, thats why you roll up a new character using a spare slot. You should live until you get to the first bubble camp/inty camp.
|
So if I flew a Maller I would be floating there as an unassuming ship, just waiting for a group to attack me in which case I would call in the calvalry and 20 teamliquidians would warp in coming to my rescue and blowing shit up!?!!?!
That sounds awesome :D

motbob quitting EVE update: I forgot I was liquidating my assets. Now I have 300m isk and like 3.7b assets. This is annoying.
