You're right about diminishing returns, KwarK.
What you left out is specialization. You can only be so good at a specific profession, ship, weapon, etc., before there's simply no more skills to increase your proficiency at it. You newbies are flying around right now with about 1-2.5 million SP. I'm running around with 30million SP because I've been in the game for years.
However, when I undock with my battlecruiser, I'm only making use of about 25% of my SP. My industry skills, mining skills, trade skills, turret skills, virtually all of my spaceship command skills (Battlecruiser uses my spaceship command 5, Cruiser 3, and battlecruiser 5, or 2mil out of almost 7mil SP) -- all of those skills aren't helping me pilot this ship any better.
So, as a new player, you will never be as versatile as the veterans, but if you specialize, you will be able to make just as much money and be just as big of a threat as any veteran.

Why are all the systems closing down?!

This. One thing you also left out Vorce is the team factor. If you are flying with a solid fleet that has a good FC (Fleet Commander), and pilots that trust the FC and know how to operate as a team will be able to combat pilots with much greater numbers of skillpoints as well. There are many many factors in EVE that are more important than skillpoints to the success of a pilot.

Where is the Corporation stationed?

Good teamwork and strategy outweighs skillpoints and money in my opinion. It's great to swarm expensive enemy ships with our disposable tackler frigates and drones. Like bees. And our enemies would wish they had a bee suit. Or some kind of bee suit build.

I have no idea how to get there, all I know is how to use the journal and add destination via autopilot and even that needs improvement. By any chance is the TL corp enemies of the Starnight Collective?

write alentene in the chat box then highlight it with the cursor (before actually saying it) then right click the text and go auto link system
that'll make it a link to our system
then right click the link and set destination then use the route that'll appear in the top left and warp your way there manually (jumping to each gate) that should take half as long as autopilot
Any other questions join the channel #teamliquid and ask.

Once there dock at poteque and look at the list of corporations with an office there. One of them will be TCS with the leader Dexxus. That's us. Apply and just put tl on your application and you should get in. See you there.

Is there any need for another indy guy? I'm currently training it because I was playing soloish, but I'm torn between that and fighting right now

There's some stuff that we've started to keep secret from the public, as anyone can google search us and probably land in this thread or the Metagaming in EvE thread, so you'd have to ask about that stuff once you're in our corporation.
That said, we have a number of industrialists, and a few people with industrial alts. We try to encompass all professions (except pirating/scamming).

Just to reiterate the whole playing longer =/= better, last night we killed about 100M worth of Player owned ships, with losses of about 5M, even though 4 of the 6 guys in our fleet had been playing less than a month. Teamwork and smarts will beat stupidity every time. (Gate Guns ftw?)

Awesome bought my fist frigate, albeit it is a mining frigate I can now mine two asteroids at once. Is it wrong to feel accomplished after such a noobish feat?
