In EVE there is no single best ship, but if one is forced to decide a best ship, is it not logical to see which ship fares well against the largest number of threats? Is it REALLY that far fetched?

Well, does it REALLY fare that much better against larger number of threats than other marauders to be called the best overall? I dont think so. My take on the matter is that vargur and golem both accomplish the same task with so similar efficiency it doesnt really help to name one better than the other.

This ship is surely handy in wormholes, and I can see it greatly reduce logistics costs for lower level holes ran by passive drake gangs and stuff. You don't really want a marauder when it tanks badly without expensive mods, and someone can recon gang your ass without warning on local.

The only ship type the Golem has a clear advantage on is against Gurista because Minmatar do not have a short range kinetic bullet. Thermal still works well enough to bridge the advantage when you factor in how much better Vargur is at killing angels. The Vargur and The Golem are both pretty damn good at all missions. The Paladin is far more specialized though as they are pretty shit against anything with high EM resist ( Angels/Gurista/ anything not Sansha) The reason Golems are so prevelant is because hardcore mission runners are missile heavy and the Golem is a natural progression. Keep in mind that over all the CNR is considered the fastest mission runner anyway. Less reliance on TP, more applied dps, faster, better tank, better range and better damage projection.

The only thing they're really good at is dieing on the battles. I go away for 2 days and everything is turned around lol. I'll be honest, it's simply a matter of skillpoints. Logistically Hatchery is every bit as good as No Apology. We know how to make fleets and generally how to use them properly, our issue is skillpoints. We probably only have about 6-7 individual people with enough skill points to fly real dps ships( talking roughly 14-15mil+ here.) Both WP and I are capable of flying ships that output over 900 DPS no problem. The thing is we're both relegated to flying scimitars and our fleets ( even the big ones tbh) can't make up that 1800+ dps they lose. Against most corps this isn't an issue but when NA actually got kinda serious yesterday we saw that they fly a neut/rr armor fleet that revolves around stupidly highly tanked dominix. They output a tank that we could simply not break as they slowly neuted our ships to shut down their hardeners. It's difficult to keep a ship up when it has no resistances anymore. This is all fine lol. The fact that this is the only real issue speaks well for the Hatchery. Given the nature of the corp it will be filled with low SP pilots for the forseeable future and that's fine, I love flying with the guys. It's just they have more resources that you can only gain with time. A fleet vs fleet battle at this time would probably be a stalemate atm assuming WP and I could keep the fleet up fine.
