@whistler: there's always the option of giving the char over and having the corp run it with plexs while training him up, additionally you could get it back if you ever wanted to get back into eve - we did that with motbob's char and it worked out of for 6months or so, dunno if anyone is running his account atm We are not in any wars at the moment. We did just end one with Kwark getting a glorious kill on a Tengu but we are waiting for the alliance to dissolve before we war decc'ed someone new. On another note we do need more FC's (no offense to Kwark) but having someone that has some tricks up his sleeve would be great. Honestly I don't think anyone can complain at the moment. All the new players are happy they are getting help and the old players that joined don't regret it so it looks like win-win. Btw Dexx and WP are pretty decent FC's and Kwark can handle a skirmish just fine considering he's the primary dps most of the time I think he's doing a pretty good job.
My offer to new starcraftedians in Eve is still up - I'd rather spend the limited time in eve I have atm with passing someone what I know about FCing than doing some single roam. PM / Evemail ftw.
Please just do it when you really like the idea of leading interweb spaceships into glory in the name of blue horses. =)
Also I totally blame awesome ingame mechanics for the alliance delay. Still can't vote on the holding corp. =(

Our enemy has more than twice our guns, more than twice our numbers, and we are supposed to hunt them
Tomorrow I intend to assemble the largest fleet that Team Liquid has ever created. Under the command of Wrathful Penguins in especially fitted ships which we are preparing as I speak we will be ready a half hour before the war comes into effect. As it begins we will exploit our complete member list to run locates on as many people as we can and we will hunt them down in droves. If they assemble their own fleet, and I expect they will, we will meet them in battle and we will prevail. And on that first battlefield we will not only take a single victory but also the entire war. For you see most of them joined in the last week or so, lured by a 0% tax rate. Whereas we are team liquid, we are loyal to a more permanent ideal. When their day to day business is disrupted, and I assure you it will be, they will have no incentive to stay and no loyalty binding them. Members will leave rather than stop playing, they will refuse to participate in fleets in expensive ships. It will be all too easy to just leave.
They are a ragtag collection of carebears. They may have big ships but we're happy to loot them. They may have more skill points but we have more skill. They may have twice our numbers but we have twice their spirit. We declared war on them. We are the predator, they are the prey. We are Team Liquid, they are nobody!

This does raise an interesting point though. We ought to limit what we post here. We'll need to use the passworded vent channels and take more precautions. I'll organise shit in corp mails for the duration of the war and then write it up after the event.

Ok, I'm bored of doing this lesson so I'll put it here so I don't have to ever do it again.
Items come in many classes and their goodness is measured in meta while their skill requirements are measured in tech.
Tech 1 meta 1 Small Shield Extender I These can be manufactured by players as well as dropped as npc loot. They are the basic module with the lowest skill requirements and the standard fitting requirements.
Tech 1 meta 2-4 Small F-S9 Regoliath Shield Induction These are also known as named. This is because they are named with names like that rather than the generic ones. Their skill requirements are the same as the original t1 version because they are still t1. However they have a higher meta, lower fitting requirements and usually do more in some way. They cannot be manufactured, only dropped. As such some of them are rare. Because of the temptation to pimp ships to the max the best named items are very much in demand because they make fitting easier for people who want to make their ships absurdly expensive.
Tech 2 Small Shield Extender II These can be manufactured by players. They are as good or better than the highest meta t1. However they are harder to fit and require higher skills. Using these is pretty optimal for most players because they offer massive increases over the meta 1 versions without the rarity. While you can still fit more with high meta named items the excessive cost would make any PvP horribly inefficient. To give an example, the meta 4 ballistic control unit costs 30m while the t2 which has better bonuses costs 700k. Only if you were incredibly impatient to get a bonus and couldn't wait a few days for training time would you use that. As a rule PvP ships will be fitted with t1 or t2 (whichever you can use) and then you use named items when you're just a little bit short of having the fitting requirements and need to save a bit somewhere.
Tech 1 Faction Basically superhigh named. Cannot be manufactured. Same skill requirements as all other t1. Usually more decreases in fitting requirements and even better bonuses. Accessable only as drops from special rare faction npcs and from LP stores using LP points from missions. Pretty much never justifiable in any PvP any of you will be in.
Tech 1 Officer Faction squared. Take faction and add another two zeroes to the price. Out of the price range of even the most OCD carebears with a credit card full of PLEX. If you wear this people will suicide gank you in highsec to take it from you.
