i really dont like how this launch is done.
7 days headstart is way too much, some will be close to max lvl before the normal people even buy the game. And the artificially staggered invitations is just building up some kind of elitism from the people that got in early.
They should have done 4 days headstart and just send invites dynamically until the servers are full. Aion and Rift launch was more impressive than this. In those 2 games it was a huge invasion of players being thrown into the world, just like i remember it from my first mmo. With this staggered launch and the multiple instances of 1 zone i doubt i will feel any excitement, it will just be another day solo questing.

And this is the reason it might be better this way, Rift launch had A LOT of lagg the first few hours and Trion added waaaaaaaay too many servers so as soon as the launch-hype died down they had like 20 low pop servers. Rift's launch was still one of the better MMO launches out there though, but not sure which way I prefer, both ways have pros and cons.
And no idea what you mean about people being max level before normal people start, why does that really matter?

because for the ones behind this might as well be a 8 year old mmo. The feeling will be the same for like a month.
also, Eu server starting areas will be a ghosttown from now till 15:00, when the next waves get in. Just sad.

Agreed....7 days is just retarded. Saves a couple of days of lag maybe if that. Yea WoW release was terrible but servers have come a long way since then. Seems more like a cheap way to hype the game by getting people to pre-order -_-. Having people be max level (and they will be) before most people get the game is really dumb no matter which way you spin it.

I think "just another day grinding" is the main issue here.
When everyone else is just starting, it's epic and awesome. When people are max level, people inbetween, and very few people in the actual starting zones -- it's just...oh look, another character in another MMO.

I feel like swtor is meant to be more casual, not in a "bad" way, just there is no emphasis on world first right now, maybe somewhere along the road this option will be viable. Right now it's just a game that is meant to be played for fun, without stress of grinding out profession, skills or mobs. Almost all "mechanics" of this game are set that way, they don't exclude hardcore pve/pve but they don't put much emphasis on it, even much much less then WoW does now.

Be sure to PM me if you want in on the Empire's East coast guild Notorious on The Twin Spears server. The guild's up now, and the republic guild on the same server will be made soon by mechavoc.

If I pre-order now, is it possible that I can get in at least a few days early?

At least one day early, but few days? really hard to say.

Thank you for the information, don't know if it's worth it then to order over Origin, since I've been hearing it has a lot of problems. I do want to try to get in early though, since my break is only so long .

they said everyone will get 2 days. Question is if you can still get and redeem codes as the game allready launched. also, you dont need origin for this game (yet), even if you bought it from there. You just need the retail code and then you can play from biowares launcher.

Did they? Someone said 1 day guaranteed but yeah.

Well, technically it launches on the 20th and the site says that it's still taking pre-orders for possibly early entry.

Well, i heard that you can't play the game after 20th if you don't have the game in hour hands (activated product key). If i'm not right, correct me. So ordering from a digital store, is better idea and i'm pretty sure Origin gives the product keys in time. (They give out the pre-access code after the purchase.)
But to be honest, i would personally avoid Origin, but i bought it from there and i have had no problems yet.
About the early access, i have only heard that they will be letting every pre-orderer ONE DAY early. Who knows if you/everyone gets earlier, but ATLEAST one day before the launch is guaranteed.

Thank you for the information as well. I'll have to take a shot at least, I can always go through the hassle if the code doesn't work out and be tortured going through support.

yeah, you get full BG xp when queueing into an empty one that gets canceled after a minute. And because they invited so few people that all servers are on "low", this happens quite often.
everyone who queues BGs is basically exploiting....

Hmm, sounds interesting. But i don't care, they are missing a REALLY nice way to quest/level and also the story/lore, which is for me, the best thing in the game at the moment. It beat's WoW 100-0, EASILY. All the voice-acting, the quest videos and the story/lore is amazingly done and first time in MMO, i'm not frustrated or looking at the XP bar constantly and waiting for the next level.
Also, seems like they know about it.

Weird, did anyone elses order on Origin take a long ass time? The order has been processing now for about 10-15 minutes.

They have had lots of problems today, they are fixing the issues. So most likely that is the case and cause.
"origin_EA Origin We're aware of the issues accessing Origin. We’re investigating the cause, and will provide updates ASAP. Thanks for your patience."
Update: We’re still investigating the issues involving accessing Origin. We’re working as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience.
Have you checked Origin/bioware/ea forums?
