Kinda frustrating. That being said, the story and personal quests are really snazzy. I actually feel like my character is important, has her own history/plot, and is making important decisions. Flashpoints and such are also really nice and instantly dispel any "this is a grindy MMO" feelings, (at least until you're back to regular mundane quests). One big gripe I have though is PvP. No level brackets? LOL wtf. I queued up for my first warzone ever last night, and it was lotsa fun BUT, I was in there (as a lvl15 nooby), with a bunch of other chumps ranging from 12-50. Level 50 characters killin' mah lvl15. Now this game isn't nearly as stratified as WoW for example, (I was actually able to deal damage to high level characters), but it still wasn't really a contest if that lvl30 bad guy wanted me dead. Oh, I also haven't run into a single enemy faction player yet. I dunno if that's just because I'm still a lowbie, but I was hoping that warzones would be empire vs republic. I didn't get my first gank until level 30 lol. But I'm betting the no level bracket thing is temporary since there wouldn't be enough players in the higher level brackers at the moment. Time will tell...
I havent done a single warzone that wasnt empire vs republic, so im not sure what he means. But the amount of republic on most servers is appallingly low, all the people want to play sith I guess. I wanted to play Jedi, but all my buds were playing sith so I caved. Alot of the big servers have a 3-1 Empire/Republic ratio. Which means you wont see alot of them. Hopefully things balance out... Im level 35 atm and I have one seen 1 group of republic players.

Yeah on the server I'm on pvp is fucking retarted because of this. Sith has like 10x more 50's than we do so literally every single match against sith they have at least 90% lvl 50's and the rest lvl 40's or 30's. Then on the republic side u have like 1 level 50 and the rest are like lvl 20. Yea u can guess how that turns out. Even with premades its usually 4 of us at lvl 50 then the rest of the team at lvl 20 against a full team of 50's.

It's been like that since WoW. In my case I was alliance, but I would lose most of my battlegrounds when I queue'd alone. And when you're tired of losing (human nature), you switch to the winning side, which is what I did for SWTOR.
There are good and bad players on both sides ofc, maybe even more bad players on the Empire side than the Republic, but with a 3:1 ratio, you're bound to win more warzones.

As someone who greatly enjoyed Vanilla WoW, do you guys recommend that I try this out?

As a competitive player in a competitive guild, I'm happy to be republic. There will just be so many players to kill in world pvp and arenas in the future
The current bgs are a bit of a joke though, they're too objective focused and removed most of the ACTUAL PvP interactions that should be expected from bgs.
If you try to to fight enemy players in the current bgs too much you actually get punished for it(because you didnt zerg/rush the doors or the hutball).

can an armstech make anything that isn't bind on equip? if not, i dont really see the point of being an armstech. other skills have unique items and i could just buy any armstech stuff i need from someone else. i'm guessing crafted weapons aren't the best at lvl 50 anyway.

Wow wasnt bad cause there were brackets. Its the 11-50 that fucks things up. Ive never been in a game where the number of 50's was the same on both sides. Its usually 2:1 or 3:1 in their favor.

Forget about armstech, everything is BoE, and the BoE epic barrels you can make at 50 aren't even that good, best barrels in the game are bought with commendations you get from daily quests. Crafted weapons at 50 can be ok, because you can reverse engineer them and learn new schematics with specialized stats, like if you do it with a bunch of "Blue Gun of the Boar", you'll learn stuff like "Critical Blue Gun of the Boar" that has different stats, and it gives you an augment slot. But again, everything is BoE and reverse engineering is expensive so it's not worth it.
Go for Biochem instead, you can make med packs/skill packs that doesn't get consumed on use, and the skill pack buff lasts through death so basically a free +104 in a stat at 50.

If you try to to fight enemy players in the current bgs too much you actually get punished for it(because you didnt zerg/rush the doors or the hutball). I think they're great to be honest, they all feel more special than your standard zerg/rush-BG's from WoW/WAR. Huttball is the most about coordination and not about PvP kills while Voidstar and Alderaan are more about just mindless killing people. If they keep making warzones like this and keeps them varied it's probably going to keep me entertained for a while.
I hate the way points gets calculated though, like in Huttball you gain more by going 5-0 and just farming kills until it ends than you do by going 6-0, and you gain nothing by scoring, capping or planting/defusing bombs.

From an ex-hardcore raider WoW raider (raided in a top 25 world guild, top 5 US for 2 years) I can honestly say this game is fantastic. As long as they stick to their plans as far as content dates are concerned it should be quite good. I am thoroughly impressed. I never EVER expected to play another MMO again, but a friend really suckered me into playing this with him and I have to say i enjoy it a lot.
But the PvP is really, really, REALLY bad. They either need to pour a metric ton of resources into the game to make the pvp better or just deal with this being a really poor pvp game.

Pointless stupid whine from me
but good lord the AH is atrocious.

One thing I really don't understand is why other MMOs can't get simple things like combat feel right. If SWTOR's going the GCD route, then stick with it. Instead, we get this hybrid GCD/animation system that makes casting awkward as hell.

They will get it sorted, classes and combat will get tweaks in patches until everything feels right it takes a while for an mmo to get refined. Some never get it right, but with the early (and hopefully continued) success of SW:Tor im sure we will see many tweaks to combat and beyond in the coming year.

Def go Biochem.
BOP Stim, adrenal, medpack all better than anything else available. On top of that they are reusable.

How many chapters are in the Jedi Knight storyline? I've been playing this game forever and I'm still on chapter 1 and only have 2 companions. I'm currently on Alderaan, just did Tatooine.

I think each class has 3 chapters. First chapter is definitely the longest in terms of levels.

I am doing the jedi knight story. I believe I finished chapter one at around level 32-33 sounds right to me. Its the longest chapter I believe chapter 2 I don't remember when that ends xD.

chapter 2 ends after hoth (so ~40ish) if all the class stories go at the same rate
