Other than voice acting and wubwubsabers, eh, not so much.
Also, saying "No MMO PvP is competitive" is not an excuse to not have some form of hardcore PvP outside of Huttball.
WoW is a clear example that there is a demand for "hardcore" PvP in the form of Arena-esque things. Huttball is admittedly very god damn fun, but it would be like if WoW only had Warsong Gulch. There should be that variety and that choice, as you say, "Plain and Simple"

Eve online alliance tournaments? Huge CCP sponsered event run every year to find out who can field the best team to take out victory for huge prizes.
Darkfall's sieging system? Where you can siege and take other clans actual cities and holdings from them in a massive pvpfest, dropping cannons, warhulks ships to try and take out their clanstone while simultaneously defending yours (also it's not instanced so anyone else on the server can join in at anypoint in time).
Just because you might not of played a game with 'competitive pvp' doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

WoW is actually a clone of MMO's before it. I am sick of the swtor/WoW comparisons as well why don't we compare it to the MMO's before WoW? That would make more since in my eyes. Or hell you know what would be even better? Not to even compare MMO's to each other all the time! Man that would be amazing!

I don't think you're thinking about the same 'competitive' that he is.

Well yeah, no shit.
When I say "competitive" PvP I mean PvP that has an aura of small scale teamwork and coordination. Like Arena's, but without stupid as hell Resilience. Not Starcraft Tounrey competitive, I mean that it's a far more difficult area than the usual "mass" PvP.

why is it every time a new mmo is released a swarm of haters forms that trolls the games community with their negativity. Do people feel the need to secure "their" mmos position? Is their mmo such a huge part of their life that they feel its a personal insult to release another mmo?
If you dont like the game, how about you just move on. Its not a right of yours that every mmo fullfills your needs.
This Bioware with massive pve story telling elements is clearly not meant to be a "competetive" pvp game. Yeah, some people like pvp, some wont play swtor because it lacks an arena, so what, go play WoW arena maybe. This is simply not the game for you. accept it and accept that other people still like it over "your" mmo.

I did not know that me saying that they should add a bit of variety to their already extremely fun PvP system to allow for some more competitive forms of PvP as to balance out the types of fans, as there is a demand for both, made me a troll who is obsessed with negativity. Glad to know that I'm doing it out of some form of fanboyism or utter disdain for this game and not out of wanting it to succeed by making a suggestion that could perhaps add a lot more variety to an already semi-restricted end-game.
Thanks for clearing that up though. I'm overjoyed there's someone on this forum that can tell me what my true beliefs, opinions, and intentions are about a subject. I mean, it does make discussions so much easier when everyone who disagrees with you is a dirty troll just trying to bash on your game. Even if their suggestions are in the best intentions and just trying to help a game succeed to its greatest potential.
+ Show Spoiler +Seriously though, the fact that you are taking suggestions to help improve the game as "insulting it" really does give an impression of some massive insecurity. This game can not and will not succeed when every attempt at trying to give suggestions for its improvements is met with utter and childish hostility and belligerence. The fact is, MMO's are very malleable and should be open to change. WoW was successful because it kept adapting to its players needs, even from day 1 and its earliest patches. Refusing to change anything, despite the publics wants because "it's a story based MMO who cares about content" is just...stupid.
You can disagree with me all you want on the subject of competitive arenas being implemented. Go for it, I don't mind people disagreeing with me. What I do mind is this childish fucking antics of "What, you disagree with me?!?!?! FUCKING TROLL JUST HATING ON MY GAME GET A LIFE!"
Because, quite frankly, if the "If you don't like it leave" approach was held literally -- almost no game would be successful because developers of successful games constantly change on a dime and listen to their customers (to an extent). Saying "if you don't like it how it is now just leave" is basically putting your hands over your ears and screaming LALALALALALALALA to ANYTHING that could even slightly be hinted to as a form of minor negativity.
This game has a shit ton of potential and is EXTREMELY fun, I will not lie. However, with the lack of end-game content, this needs something added and something fast to sustain interest in the long run.
Anyways, back on subject. I think that some form of competitive-esque PvP needs to be added. ANYTHING other than Huttball. Is HB fun? Damn straight it is, I actually enjoyed that shit a lot when I played it. However, it is, as I said, not by any means sustainable for the long run. Something needs to be done for PvP to make it viable to play in the long run, just like PvE. There needs to be some semblance of an end-game for this type of game, and for PvP, it should be something competitive.

Btw can you guys explain this end game content lack in swtor? Specifics please.

Huttball and two endgame raids is all that makes up the endgame right now. The Eternity Vault and Karagga's Palace (8 & 16 man). Both of which have been fully cleared already. Please correct me if I'm missing anything anyone else, but those are the only two raids I know of and I know they were cleared quite early in Early-Access. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure those are the only two raids + Huttball to do at max level really.
I do love to be proven wrong though
As you can see though, less than 4 days after game release and all the content (that I know of?) has been cleared in the games endgame. That's just absolutely silly. Either they need to make that shit harder, add more content, or find something else to keep players busy (IE: PvP). It's not bashing, it's just the simple truth really. This is a P2P MMO, and P2P MMO's need to convince people to do something. To have to accomplish something or give them something to do at max level. When you remove that carrot on the stick, people get bored and stop paying that kind of money.

Sometimes i wish WoW only had WSG(out of all bgs, not arenas) almost every other one is just utter trash.
But ya they said they had a lot more pvp things in the works so i have high hopes.

some people skipped all story and cleared the easy mode raids.
Even the majority of the hardcore people is not 50 yet, they are around 40+. There are like 12 group instances at max lvl and 2 raids. The raids have 3 difficulty settings.
This is 1 week after launch, i wouldnt call it lack of content yet. If in 2 months they havent added, then you can start calling it that. Rift started with 2 raids as well and that game isnt exactly lacking things to do now.
Every mmo has people playing 18 hours a day, of course its lacking content to keep those busy all the time, what do you expect?

RIFT isn't a good example as its launch was horrendous.
Nonetheless, 2 raids (that have already been cleared before the game even came out) is a lack of content. They really need to add shit fast. Because if they don't within a month or two, people will begin to notice en masse and get bored. Remember that a lot of people are trying this game out as either their first MMO, or as a small break from their favorite MMO (be it RIFT, WoW, or EVE or whatever) to give it a shot, or so forth. If it doesn't give fantastic first impressions of end-game when they reach it, they'll just return to their old games. They have nothing to lose, Bioware has everything to lose.
I hope PHIL is right though and they're working on more PvP content, and I hope they do got a team working on some cool new PvE content. I would hate for this game to drop down in numbers because of something as silly as lack of endgame content Because, honestly, what isn't awesome about beating shit to death with lightsabers? I just hope they come up with something a little more clever than "AN ANCIENT EVUL AWAKENS!" when they do add more content.

Yup I agree with this. Getting 50 in 4 days is ridiculous. If you are just skipping the storyline and just going for end game content will I just don't see how that's any fun :/.
They have already said that they are planning on releasing new content next month anyway. And for the people who's first MMO is this, they wont' be max level for awhile unless they are rushing to it like other people which I still don't understand why you rush for it instead of just enjoy the story and what not. I guess for PvP but I would never buy this game just for PvP personally.

Yea being level 50 in like 4 days seems pretty absurd to me. I've been playing a fuckton and im only lvl 32, although iim not trying to crush through the levels, doing a lot of pvping.

One of the major things I found I liked from playing in the beta was that I actually gave a shit about the story, and that is very odd for me. I've never really played single player games because I never get into the story enough to actually care, and when I played WoW it was the same way. I hated the story in WoW and I only played for the raid content, but in TOR it's different.
I'm still debating on whether or not I want to play now that it is released though. Has anyone here actually done any of the end game raids? Are they complex, challenging (keep in mind, I'm asking with a 5 year history in WoW)? As much as I like the story, the PvE content is what will keep me in the game, and I want to ensure that it is actually fun and challenging before I commit to buying. The amount of content isn't an issue for me, as they said they'll be releasing new content regularly.
