My first ever hero is something I don't remember.

All I remember was Fadenhell harassing me with a level 6 sa, and I thought he was teleporting around, and asking him how he does that LOL

But my first real hero that I "practiced" with was viper

I remember buying euls scepter on Lina because of a guide suggested it, and never knowing about cyclones.

My very first game of dota I played phantom lancer because I didn't know who to pick and my friends on vent were like just pick anyone the game is balanced.

I picked lancer because he has the Kimari avatar from FFX and so he seemed familiar. I think I died around 8-10 times as does everyone their first game. After that I read up a lot on the heroes since they started doing shit to me that I had no idea of. I randomed for a long time after that. Probably for like 10 consecutive versions I did nothing but random so I could try all the different items on all the different heroes.

Anyone I taught how to play dota I always tell them to play sven then sniper if they are serious at getting decent at it.

I don't remember my first hero, but I remember playing mass games with Lich while learning items. Just watched some replays and tried Lich builds with Meka, Dagon, Bottle, Dagger, etc.

And I remember asking how to get wood, too... what a misleading recipe cost! There are a lot of games where wood is granted with time or when a certain special condition is met.

My first hero was yurnero, since the first time I played was with 8 other people that hadn't ever played before and 1 that had, I was pretty good compared to them lol.
The guy that had played always picked bloodseeker though, and I ran of course haha I was like WHY THE FUCK DO I KEEP DYING NODOBY IS EVEN CLOSE TO ME!!?!?!?

Meh my first hero was... I think it was furion...
I had so much fun pushing lane w/ my "tree herd", that's what I called them... I was a herder of trees herding the trees across the river deep into enemy ground and get ganked like 10x in a roll I was all sad, "WHY CANT I HERD IN PEACE!"

Then I had broodmother and had so much fun surround kill w/ my spiders untill I tried to surround axe...

btw can sombody pm me on how to get on GGC? mine seem to stuck at the "autentication" stage and never move anymore. Anyone help? I've been playing on Bnet for 1 day now it was awful

i have absolutely no idea what my first hero was, the first dota game we played was on RoC ffs. It was when each side had one teleporting healer on sent and scourge, I dont think there was even a hidden shop?

It was usually 4v4 inhouse with friends at college, all of us would go to Frist Campus center and hijack 2 rooms, 1 team per room and lan. It was so awkward when other pple looking for somewhere to study would open the doors lol.

Sven, really is a good starting hero. Hes got good str gain, and his skills are easy to use and understand. Just tell them to get some bracers and str power treads, and once they work out how to do that, they will think they are the best Sven player in the world

DotA really was "omgwtf?" times back when I started. It was so dam funny. Things would happen, and you be like, "wtf was that?". But as you say, dieing alot, is the way to learn lol. Coupled with playing -ar for like, ever.

Try reinstalling or something.. or did you chaneg anything with ur firewall and stuff? Cause might have something to do with your firewall/windows firewall...
