oh god are you trying to say hon is a different game from dota? I guess it is. I wasn't expecting it to be tho. You would always animation cancel anyways with Arachna instead of just letting it go because the moment you get fogged you're going to stop moving, effectively screwing up the orb walk. | ||

arachna suffers from exactly the same "problem" as drow, just less so as hon animations are often shorter or more streamlined. why cant people at least test their idiotic ideas before presenting them to the public? edit: Arachna: Damage point/backswing: 0.4/0.6 Applies Webbed Shot to target for 3 seconds. Drow: Attack Animation: 0.7 / 0.3 Duration 1.5 seconds on Heroes essentially, animation canceling/orbwalking is WAY more effective on arachna, it is just less noticeable as the prolonged buff duration doesnt make it necessary as often to stay in range. | ||

DotA2 will blow HoN out of the water. We're talking about not only the original mechanics that made the game popular, not only that it is an extension of the original and not a new game, but it's VALVE we're talking about. I can't think of a game that they pushed out that isn't either critically acclaimed or extremely popular. They don't fail~ even industry analyst Michael Pachter regards them as the top 5 developers in the industry right now. Not only that, DotA2 will easily have 10x more coverage in the gaming industry/world. DotA2 will also have much more support. Although Gabe Newell is kind of a douche, with Portal 2, Steam Gaurd, and DotA2, Valve is so good for the next year. So regarding POPULARITY, DotA2 will eclipse HoN in numbers, I'll bet anyone money right now. Every major gaming website has reported about DotA2 at least twice, front page. It's one of Valve's only current 2 gaming projects, and Portal 2 will be pushed out soon. It hasn't even had a trailer yet, or well, anything, but it's quickly stirring up interest. HoN has barely made a mark in the gaming industry, as a matter of fact, I don't remember the last time there were any reports on it on any of the sites I go to; the only time it got a glimmer of spotlight was during the LoL vs HoN- which is going to be better discussions. In terms of popularity, as of right now, LoL is beating HoN- though I'm sure you all already knew that. LoL recently got some front page coverage on IGN and so did DotA2. Outside of this thread and in the general gaming world, HoN is but another obscure game. Granted, so is DotA right now. Oh and if anyone has a PS3, cloud is on the PS3 now. 8D | ||

So hypothetically, If dota2 has identical gameplay to dota1 but with all the extra things in hon like reconnect/stats/matchmaking which do you see being the more popular game? jeez you have to be trolling, right? first of all, you say that you attack faster when you orbwalk. just to point that out again, because of how very wrong that is. and just to point that out one more time, i'm referring to the quote (paraphrased, cba) "there seems to be no benefit in orbwalking in hon, you attack just as fast if you right click" the benefit of orbwalking isn't attacking faster, it's to interrupt the backswing of any animation. this isn't even restricted to orbs, and is otherwise known as animation cancelling knowing this, it follows that we look up the cast time + backswing of the relevant spells (frost arrow and web shot). this has been kindly done for us by Glull and shows that perfect animation cancelling on arachna is much more effective due to the earlier damage point (the point at which you can interrupt the animation and still have the cast go through) and a much longer backswing (useless time). so gtfo. | ||
