I remember Gobsmack saying before he even joined Frost Giant that he really really really wanted a 2v2 mode, and that was one of the changes that got put in. It's a bit unfortunate, however, because people queuing for 2v2 on ladder just shrinks the matchmaking pool that much more. If you want a 2v2 game you have to go on Discord and try and find people manually.

the great thing about hermit coding is that its impossible to assess the hermit's level of heroism in rescuing a project. I love the war stories hermit coders give me when I'm thinking of hiring them. I've got a few myself.

one of my retail chain store customers got rid of their Photoshop/Illustrator specialist. Initially, they cut down her hours. Now, they've got one of their PC techie fix-it guys using ChatGPT/Grok to make the display art, coupons, marketing cards etc for their stores.

That's so ironic.
The guy who makes these posts about finding investors and making another game to save this game is not actually listed in the credits.

That means Tim1 making social media posts and arguing with haters instead of actually making the game is canon now.
At least Tim2 is listed as Project Support (apparently emotional :D )

What's really funny is the reaction of Gobsmack when someone speculated that the mediocre rock song that accompanied the fan-made trailer was made with AI:

A totally not normal thing to do is accuse people of harassment and then say that someone spent thousands of hours making it. I called him out on his numbers and he admitted "I misspoke when I said thousands."

There's quite a bit of "methinks he doth protest too much" going on here about some throwaway fan-made trailer for a fan-made patch.

with each passing year Photoshop got slightly more easy to use. WHen I worked at Fedex//Kinkos in 2005 and 2006 the art girl made $40/hour and could do stuff with Photoshop and Illustrator i could not touch with a 10 foot pole. There were orders of magnitude difference between her and I. Now, with ChatGPT she is still better than me, but its competitive. If Kinkos still existed today and two employees with our respective skill levels existed they could use the lower skilled person who makes $20/hour a lot more for the cheap customers. They can probably offer to pay the higher skilled person less cash.

Well if you train the model on a trillion datapoints vs what a human has to do, it's kind of obvious all the theory and technical stuff will be embedded in the model without it knowing what it is or respresents. That's a level in the human condition only humans could appreciate, or so we thought. Because it turns out human don't appreciate it at all. They're happy with a sloppy approximation, with outsourcing resources to something that takes no effort or understanding. At one level it is quite beautiful, a meta level system which summarized all of the human work and can just spit something out eerily similar (or indistinguishable by now), but at another level it's horrible because human expression is one of our dimemsions we need to explore and if it'a not worthwhile to do so any longer, what does that say about us?
I don't think we'll stop expressing ourselves (big record labels and streaming services didn't do so), but it's just one more hurdle to cross, making it quite difficult to want to pursue as a career option at least. Investing 1000s of hours into understanding something is not an unserious thing to consider at least.

It does seem most creative art will go the way of bespoke art for the tiny minority paying for it or a hobby activity. Physical paintings, poetry etc has been that way for a while and as time passes more things will join it. I personally want us to hit post-scarcity societies where hobbies define the majority of people. Where making a game such as Stormgate is a hobby, similar to Beyond All Reason is for most people, and it being something you can actually do.

Pounce: new trait added
After 3 seconds being out of combat, this unit will pounce on its next attack.
This out of combat delay functions like Kri Roll Out.
On impact, the Pounce applies a 20% slow for 3 seconds.
Swipe: new trait added
On every third attack, the Carnivex cleaves units in front of it with the same damage.
Vitals Leech: new trait added
The Carnivex heals for 50% of all damage dealt.

Navi
Abilities Reworked
Radiant Mantle: updated
Teleport on fatal damage upgrade removed.
Reduce damage dealt to a target allied unit by 50% for 10 seconds.
Sovereign's Decree: new ability
Now unlocked with Navi Adept Training
Lock onto an enemy air unit, revealing it. After 3 seconds, deal 300 damage if the target remains in range.
Hallowed Ground: reworked
Now unlocked with Navi Master Training
Channel to bless the ground beneath the Navi (radius 4). While channeling, any allied ground unit inside this radius cannot go below 1 hp.

Reverted to be close to Spriggan from Patch 0.3:
Now spawns a single Spriggan instead of a pair of Spriggans
Damage per projectile reduced to 3 (+3 vs Heavy) from 8 (+3 vs Heavy)
Spriggans attack with 3 projectiles per attack
Supply cost incrased to 3 from 1
Health increased to 160HP from 80HP
Binding Saliva reduces attack speed, movement speed, and production speed by 2%.
Vengeful Expectoration upgraded removed
Salivary Overflow upgrade reverted (increase max stacks from 15 (30% slow) to 30 (60% slow))
Shadowflyer
Dive Bomb now correctly affects melee and resilient units.


TL;DR what actually changed & you'll see in a game:
Inf slight nerf with Town hall being +50 minerals, and +5seconds to recharge time on units (probably sill will be too good)
Cel +1 extra range on argent upgrade reverted/removed(no idea who thought that was a good idea in the first place), and Archangels get free max mana out of combat
I may appear to be an emotionless sarcastic pos, but just like an onion when you pull off more and more layers you find the exact same thing everytime and you start crying

meh, the most important life decision a poker player makes is table selection. Morten picked the correct table in 1994. An industry growing by leaps and bounds. The 12th best poker player on planet earth can lose everything he owns if he sits at a table with guys like Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk.

Anyhow, Tim found a great table with a bunch of rich morons making dumb raises and foolish all-ins. Morten took 'em for $40M.
