I was an idiot to support this game so early. I wanted to make maps and run tournies and all that good stuff. It seemed like it had the potential to be an awesome sandbox. I even knew that the core game didn't have to be great for the whole thing to be successful. But holy shit, I don't think anyone could have predicted how many cat turds were going to be in that sandbox. As much as I compare it to The Force Awakens, it really is more like Phantom Menace. Except without Darth Maul even. I still retain that it was such a waste of time for the community to endlessly complain about the art style, and for the studio to go back and change all the things that they did instead of spending resources elsewhere, especially things that were just fine in the game. But I guess I'm one of the few who was ok with the early look of the game, and was much more interested in the gameplay and unit behaviors improving. At the end of the day, as of EA and into 2025, this team failed on every front, to the point where you could not have predicted the immensity of it. People are absolutely right when they say Frost Giant should have started on a much smaller project, boxed it up and sold it for $20 to prove their value as a company. The level of ambition they went for can absolutely be achieved, but is insane for this team in particular. To me, it feels like all the efforts so far are so wildly off it's almost comical. We're at the archery range and arrows are not even hitting targets, much less bullseyes. Unfortunately, in this age of AI super-intelligence we are very quickly entering, where things will continue to be accelerated and automated, it seems unlikely that we will get a human made RTS on the scale of StarCraft and Warcraft again—that scratches that itch and delights us as if we were playing our favorite game for the first time. It is something I really wanted, and still want, and while it is absolutely possible I'm cynical about the right people coming together to do it legitimately and well.

It's not like I'm an intellectual, but their stupid attempts to lie and cover their mistakes really insult my intelligence. The game was a constant source of butthurt for me. For example, "Founders get all year 0 heroes" situation. Ok, they fucked up and stated that Kickstarted Ultimate backers get all of the EA heroes. They didn't mean to do this, I get it. But why, for the love of Jesus, would they ninja edit this, then lie that it was always like this? Do they think we are THAT stupid? Like, why? What did they try to achieve? They expected to milk people who already gave them $60 for an additional $10-$30? At what cost? They just pissed off their most loyal player base, and they didn't even get any substantial amount of money out of that. Their late "apology" as 1 free hero felt like yet another insult. Of course, no one will be happy if you take away 3 heroes, apologize, and give away only 1. It's like they made heroes out of gold and diamonds, and they can't afford to throw them away. Why don't they give every backer all the heroes and farm additional reputation? These people would likely buy all the next heroes and lots of skins. I've never seen such a mix of greed and stupidity in the game dev. Not only that, but they also think EVERYONE is stupid just like them. Stupid enough not to notice fucking ninja editing and gaslighting. I am 100% positive this is the most insulting game I've seen. Peter Molyneux, with his stunts, is not even close. Damn, even Homeworld 3 is not close. It's astounding in some ways.

I'm pretty calm, but this shit drives me insane. To add some oil to the lamp of the insanity, there were a lot of people defending them at first, not just Discord gang. It felt like I'm in a Lovecraft's novel. Fucking fish people all around me.

Damn, even Homeworld 3 is not close. It's astounding in some ways. Peter Molyneux’s main ‘crime’ was hyping every new game up possibly beyond the Second Coming of Jesus H Christ himself. He did always underdeliver there, but he did genuinely deliver quite a few cracking games. Plus after the first few times he hyped a game up to high heaven, we all just collectively rolled our eyes and went ‘there goes Peter again with the hype… it’ll probably still be a decent game though.’ Frost Giant woulda likely been fine if they hyped up a 10/10 experience and delivered like, an 8/10 or something.

Tim is spending way too much time defending his own failures in messaging and communication. Blaming the Kickstarter controversies on confusing wording or saying that "when the team member who wrote that section found out, they corrected the error without posting an explanation" is just passing the buck. You're the CEO, Tim, you're not inexperienced, and you had the power to make things right at the time, yet you didn't. He keeps saying that the responsibility is his at the beginning of these posts, but then spends the remainder of the posts explaining how it really isn't his fault. It's kind of infuriating to read. Frost Giant are incapable of posting an apology ended by a full stop. their apologies have always been followed by a comma

Yeah, we all knew Peter was a very talented fella. And a pathological liar :D Sometimes the MC gets older through the story, but sometimes trees refuse to grow in real time as promised :D

Yeah, very persuasive, very logical. If Tim kills and eats an old lady, it's fine, because there are killers and cannibals all over the world. To be precise, I'm referring to these people being the majority. Some people are defending FG, yes, but they are mostly the same kind people from Discord. The regular players (not haters or shills) either don't care or make fun of the game. People were A LOT more optimistic before.

Thing with Molyneux is, I don’t really doubt he wanted to do these things. He just made the call to drop some of the more crazy ones for the sake of viability and making like, a good game. Star Citizen is what it looks like if you stubbornly try to deliver on crazily ambitious aims. I realise I’m coming across as a Molyneux apologist haha but he made genuinely great games, thru good games thru ‘meh, but interesting’ for like decades, and across different genres. Along with Hideo Kojima, for better or worse they’re two of the genuine ‘auteurs’ in the industry, and I think gaming in general would be worse if folks like that weren’t given big budgets to make things If Tim Morten was, idk a developer like, idk Peter Molyneux to pluck a random name out of nowhere, maybe there’s a bit more cutting of slack.
