Too bad the game being ugly as sin and giving people an awful first impression is probably going to preclude any broad success—I like having it around as another RTS to watch now and then.

Are you just judging it for what it looks like as a spectator or are you judging it off of how you feel after playing it? I've never even gotten far enough with it that I'd actually want to watch a tournament of it because of how little I enjoy playing it. I can't invest myself in an esport that I don't find any enjoyment in playing myself.

Watching curated competitive 1v1 games is the least bad part of the game, it's just the bits that 98% of people want to play and spend money on don't work.

I've seen some movie related subreddits that try and clamp down on negativity, but even that doesn't last long since the mod actions eventually have a streisand effect that just causes more and more people to be negative on the sub. I've never been in a game subreddit that's done this.

Oh yea Star Wars Outlaws I believe. The mods in all of the mainstream Star Wars subreddits all try and do this. It doesn't keep up for long. They eventually get worn down.

Nina instantly adds 250 viewers at minimum whatever she is streaming.

You know I was watching this video then I came to a realization. This is how stormgate should have communicated with their audience while remaining open and transparent. Ashes of Creation takes a similar approach to Frost Giant where they have been sharing details with players for years and gathering feedback, yet their execution seems so much better.

Have 2 slides prepared in advance of the game. One says "<<player 1>> Wins!" and the other says "<<player 2>> Wins!" Put the proper slide up on the screen once the winner is determined by whoever GGs out of the game. It gives a more dramatic ending. I played 9Bit Armies with my sister-in-law tonight. Its silly, stupid RTS fun. Everything in the game including every campaign mission can be multiplayer.

Labels like alpha/beta/early-access etc aside I think its progress is coming along decently well. I would like to see some more insta-kneejerk changes when something is obviously pants on head (eg. kri 1.0). I like watching (and playing) just about every game, especially at high levels. Things like the Tasteless matches were just done at awful time, and I would really like to see less focus and 'okays' handed out for events while the game is in need of attention and experimentation. It's kind of fun figuring out which camps you can take, which you can't. Balance is subjective with how many moving parts there are. I'm going to write out my thoughts in detail whenever I get a chance (a little birdie has been asking me to). The more I mull things over in my mind I think the better direction is to go overboard with potential apm sinks then dial it back a bit. Doesn't sound like much as a statement but I have ideas on how to go about it, along with adding even more QoL features. Not directed at you but in general the amount of criticism I see that is lacking suggestions with it seems excessive. People are complaining just to complain and that doesn't solve any issues, and can actually make them worse via interpretation.

Pretty much agree with 99% of what's in the video. (Except Concurrent player is not total player) Out of all the early access I played, this has to be one of the worst. Some games you can know feel it's a labour of love and this just feel sterile and boring. Not really surprised this gets the reception it is getting. nothing to offer for campaign players Coop PvE is fine, but hardly good enough to be the main mode, even with more content. PvP is not outstanding enough to pull any good level of player. And honestly all the defense about "early access" seems to think SG is a unique early access game. All early access titles have something to fix or content to add, stormgate is just bad and far from an acceptable standard. You can have shillers doing their best and that's about it. It feels fake hype, it's not the games, it's the quality of casters and production trying to keep the whole thing up. But the game doesn't generate enough revenue to keep them running, it's all gonna fizz out without additional funding

I think this is pretty fair, kris were a bit omnipresent (unfortunately at the same time as the Tasteless tournament. Which I still enjoyed nonetheless. It was a fun tournament with some quality production, maybe the meta in some matchups wasn’t in the best state. I just wish they’d give dogs the same treatment mind! This is a hole Frost Giant have dug on the other hand. I’d feel really positive about this game if it was an early play test, we got 2 years more development in the pipeline guaranteed. Less so when it’s very much up in the air.

I could see it being a methadone to my SC2 heroin, that was always my kinda expectation to begin with. Sure it’s not as good as my sweet, sweet h, but hey I’ve been on that train long enough! Hey if they somehow delivered a true step forward in the genre, great! I personally never set my expectations in that ballpark

I logged into play one SC2 co-op map (somehow I own Fenix, but never maxed him). First map I loaded into was that "defend temple for 28 minutes", at least it was the old "blizzard time", but it was a little boring ![]() I also played some SC2 ladder - still fun. ![]() edit: Also I did enjoy watching SG Nexus yesterday. Genuinely.
