I only cared about having 8 players when joining Trading Post games, to trade more efficiently. If I wanted to actually level up faster or make the game harder, I would just use the "Players8" trick to simulate having a full house, even without having a lot of extra real players in the game with me.

Well if there are going to be world bosses or public events, forgot what they are called, then I have doubts about 4 mans being able to beat them. Cause you know party's are going to be created in order to fight/farm them.

Those are in the shared open world where you can have way more than 4 people battling them at the same time.

D4 is doing 4 player parties because of performance when they have an open world with 20+ player boss battles? That doesn't make much sense to me.

IIRC, experience is shared in D2, so it's actually not optimal for 8 players to party up because you kill shit too fast. In D3, I played a lot of games with a group of 1-3 people as well.



I only remember people getting pissed at necros with a billions summons regularly and that was to some extend also because it made their fps drop. I don't remember ever getting flamed for casting something because "visual clutter".

How does the transitioning work between a 4-player-max game and a shared open world? Does one need to leave their own (4-player-max? private?) game and then re-enter a "shared world" game? Or are they linked somehow? Not sure, can there ever be more than 4 players together fighting in other scenarios that include many monsters? If so I don't really know why else there would be a 4 limit. Or is it because the monsters don't scale up at all for having more players around? Or to limit how much scaling would be going on due to that. Or it just doesn't seem playable, but then world bosses anyway.

Endgame at launch, very important imo. It defines the goal of the journey, and what you can do with your character once the journey is "complete". It also defines how relevant what you do through the journey is to what you'll do after it is complete, which lets you make your choices with that in mind as soon as you start the game. For example, I would look at the gold value I can get from the very first items that drop and any materials I can craft out of them and try to see how these matter vs what I would get after max level. Ofc it also gives a sense of replayability aside from starting a new character.

I already ordered last week but I get the feeling the team may be promising too much. 4 seasons per year with the paid passes only offering cosmetics that will be in line with the game's dark gothic feel? I guess we'll find out how many shades of black there are. I'm not interested in the paid live service, but it's what will be funding the free updates coming out. We'll see how long they can interest people in paying for it.

I think I'm just gonna sit this one out. I played the open beta weekend like a madman and tried out what I wanted and uninstalled it satisfied. Although I am very curious how the adjusted, actual drop rate of legendaries and balance changes are going to affect the game, I don't feel like redownloading the beta client and starting over from level 1. Not to mention, I am not the least bit interested in that Ashava trophy for killing the World Boss successfully during this server slam... I'll probably not be doing World Bosses in the full release either, even if the rewards are good... God, I just hate forced multiplayer and 20+ people raids...
