I've found that pretty hilarious. And the fact it mirrors my fears about the game so accurately is unnerving...

That would certainly balance the classes. I'm not going to play the upcoming beta. I have seen everything I needed to not purchase the game anytime soon. There is some fun to be had exploring the world with the dungeons, hidden outposts etc. but that's not worth the 70 bucks and I also fear the game will be way too drawn out for the sake of being drawn out.

Druid isn’t a class. It’s a difficulty setting. I don't understand how they fuck up the balance so badly. I don't care if druid gets fucking nuts later in the game because I won't be able to get through the early game without wanting to kill myself every 5 minutes. Way to go with balancing your classes in the early game Blizzard...

Wouldn't be so bad if that was the actual difficulty level. Imho it's more fun if you actually have to pay a little bit attention to what is happening on your screen. However, since classes like necromancer and sorc are just steam-rolling everything so hard, you could do it on the second monitor while watching a movie on the first monitor, things like druid might feel of in comparison. I mean, compared to D2, it would be literally like giving the D2 sorc blizzard, chain lightning, frozen orb, fireball etc. at level 4 _and_ applying automated free mana potions every 2 seconds...

Honestly, I didn't find playing as the druid that difficult for the first 20 levels, even on the harder/veteran mode. Mobs are very easy with a variety of nature/elemental attacks (didn't try the werebear/werewolf as in depth, because I wanted ranged attack options). The defensive skills are really strong (near-infinite health with blood howl, armor options, etc.) and upgraded wolf (companion) attacks even make bosses manageable too. It's kind of hilarious seeing your wolves fly across the screen and deal 300+ damage for free. I found the barbarian to be way more restrictive and frustrating to play as, especially during the utter chaos of boss fights, with dangerous shit happening all over the place and the boss being permanently out of my range. I really like the variety that both the sorc and druid seem to offer. The sorc is definitely stronger, but I think the druid is absolutely playable if you're willing to press more buttons and able to keep track of more skill cooldowns.

Bosses really need to stop tracking players with their hits so you can capitalize on longer animations as melee. As ranged I can just shift away and dps through the bosses long aoe animation, as melee I can't just move to a spot where it doesn't hit me cause the boss will turn instantaneously during his animation, so I'm always either trading hits or waiting for anims to end. Bosses are also multitudes more dangerous to melee builds than average groups, so you either go hybrid just to deal with bosses or play the game two difficulties higher than everyone else. Bosses really need openings for melees, they have a ton of openings for ranged. On May 12 2023 08:32 Manit0u wrote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D15b-Nli_0I I've found that pretty hilarious. Yeah I have more options in most 3d RPGs, but there are few games I care less about character customization. I also don't mind at all that they decided to give more realistic looking character options rather than the average Korean MMO K-Pop-model. I also find it funny that he criticizes D4's skill tree to then recommend playing Inquisitor, which doesn't even have skills for half of the classes. Not that I'm particularly impressed by D4's tree tbh, at least compared to the ones that put a lot of work into their skill tree like LE and GD. Monetization is everyone's guess at the end of the day, but tbh I wouldn't mind if they continued to develop small story DLCs that you can buy, ARPGs tend to run a bit out of interesting stuff in lategame imo. Not sure how open ended and satisfying the main storyline is going to be though.

I played necromancer and druid during the March beta, both to 25. The druid wasn't that weak back then. The bigger problem was how anti-melee the story bosses are. Doing regular dungeons, it wasn't that much weaker than necromancers. And that was me giving both werewolf and werebear a try. Furthermore, necromancers have access to their book of the dead. The druid class quest is in a later act (act 2, I think).
