These guys are jokers.
I had low expectations.
Better luck next year.

"But there were other parts that needed to go along with it," the Diablo franchise lead continues. "We were trying to move a little fast, we were trying to be very responsive and agile. So we were like 'hey, we have two-thirds of a solution. So let's give them the two thirds, and we'll do the other third later.' And that didn't work out in our favour." Who honestly at Blizz thought that would be a good thing to say in an interview, in person or not...?

I'm assuming what they meant there was this perspective: *If we take too long to release a solution, players will think we don't care at all, but the full solution does take a lot of time, so let's start to fix the problem right away and release what we have to the public once we reach a reasonable benchmark, to show that we're making some progress rather than none, and then continue working on it until it's done.*

But then your open and tell them it will take a while to implement so please be patient. You don't half-arse it and fix it later without telling the players that is what your doing. That's precisely what they did with the fireside chats, and while some of the community appreciated the transparency, communication, and the "please give us a little time for us to fix the following issues", others still wanted immediate solutions (or for the developers to go back in time and preemptively solve problems). I think if you're worried about losing even more players each week, it's not unreasonable to have a few small, quick patches that show positive movement towards completely fixing something. I also don't think that's the same thing as "half-assing" it, especially if you're still working on it after those mini-patches. I totally understand that it's too little, too late, and there are a lot of problems that still exist in Diablo 4 that should have been fixed before release. I'm just saying that I don't think it's unreasonable (pardon the double negative) to show some progress with in-game updates along the way.

https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo4/23999063/mother-s-blessing-is-bestowed-on-sanctuary From September 1, 10 a.m.– September 5, 10 a.m. PDT, all players will earn XP and Gold at a 25% increased rate. The Mother blesses all of her children, as this bonus applies to both Seasonal and Eternal Realms, and all World Tiers. For those curious where to attribute this newfound boon, look for the new in-game icon beside your potion count that signifies the increased rate of earning Gold and XP. *leaves*

What completely baffles me is how undercooked/bad the current system is, especially compared to Diablo 3's EXACT SAME SYSTEM. In D3 you could see the ranges and the stats you could reroll into, and if I recall correctly, even the chance to get that affix per reroll. How the FUCK do you NOT take that COMPLETE system and implement it in its entirety is just mind-boggling. Instead you implement a half-assed version of that system that probably dated back to an internal alpha/beta of Reaper of Souls. Its like YOU LEARNT NOTHING since then.

I think they either should have released a more drastic boost (like doubling all experience and gold, not just +25%), or improved the game in such a way that players don't get bored grinding. Or both of these solutions, because this 4-day boost isn't going to keep players around for any longer than that. They should just go all in on being the casual mass market ARPG. A lot of the pain points that are being complained about the most come from trying to appeal to both casual players and hardcore grinders. If I could level a new seasonal char from 1-100 and get full BIS gear in 50-80 hours, I'd play the game more.
