Camilla usually does fine on that chapter. That's usually around when i swap her over to Wyvern Lord to start training her lance rank, and the stat bump means that as long as she stays away from the bow mechs, she crushes everything else. If you need another axe user, Shura has Berserker in his reclass pool and actually does decently in it. That chapter is actually pretty ok for training his Axe rank.

You can control a bit how much you can take on at a time by not destroying walls with the DVs. You can also block reinforcements by sitting on the forts they spawn from. Naw, these are the ones that spawn in the top right of the map, a place you can't realistically get to before they trigger. These trigger once you get to the top left Mechanist in the shuriken ballista thing. The thing is that I can kill him if I hit with both Effie and Corrin using the Yato twice, but Corrin has a shit % chance to hit and will be KO'd back on the enemy turn if she misses. She can survive using a dragonstone attack, but then he won't die in time and the casters will get there and mop up.

EDIT: Also choco, I know that it's been a while since we had this discussion, but I'm now firmly of the belief that Wyvern is the best reclass option to give the avatar. For the Avatar themselves, Cav and Wyvern are pretty comparable, but the dealbreaker is how useful Wyvern is as a marriage class--especially on Jakob and Felicia. Malig Knight gives Felicia a magical combat class with actually reasonable bulk, while Wyvern Lord Jakob is actually a completely different level of absurd, even compared to Paladin. As strange as it seems, I actually think I wasn't selling reclassed Jakob hard enough before. One of the most abusable things about the first servant is their ability to get --/15 skills insanely early in the game (since they hit level 15 around Ch. 11-12)--it's just not super apparent from Paladin, since Aegis is pretty ignorable as a skill. Getting Trample that early on Jakob is just completely stupid. The power boost of having a second Wyvern with such incredibly high damage that early is like having a 2nd Camilla, and there's similar results for other reclass options like Replicate/Shurikenfaire Jakob from Ninja avatar. With the additional reclass, Paladin Jakob isn't even like a Jeigan that falls off past the midgame--his advantage in skills means he stays one of your best units for almost the entire game, even when someone like Silas catches up to his raw stats. The most recent draft rules for Conquest actually ban Wyvern reclass for the avatar because of how dominant it is (in addition to stipulating that Camilla, if drafted, cannot be deployed in chapters 11-14).

Leo's on the right side, and unfortunately I don't have any way on that side to break through the second ballista fort since I have Niles, Leo, and the fliers. Plus Leo is super underleveled.

Having multiple locktouch users was probably the biggest thing that helped me progress the map fast enough to keep Saizo alive. The one playthrough where I both killed Shura AND didn't raise Kaze was the most painful.

The thing I'm always the most disappointed about is falcons not having sword access. Siegfried with flight would have been epic. I personally like Wyvern more, but spreading Paladin just for shelter is really fun, which is why you spread Wyvern to the natural Paladins. Edit: My go to strategy for chapter 17 is just stick Niles with enough buffs to just murder all of the ninjas on the right side in one enemy phase and rush from there.

I wish that the avatar's kids got her secondary and not the Nohr Prince line, cuz Malig Knight Dwyer actually seems like it'd be good, since he can get a Tome rank from Strat and has appropriate mixed offensive stats.

some of the pairs seem hard to get for me cause I dumped male people (Owain, Arthur). Using Laslow right now cause the rallybot is real, who should I pair him with?

Laslow isn't practical as a rallybot maingame mostly cuz despite having a good personal, his access to rallies is pretty bad without some really unrealistic reclassing (the only rally he gets in his default class set is Skill, which is one of the worst rallies). Best spouse for him is probably Peri since they have a fast support, after that it's just random people who want +Spd/Mov Bow Knight pairup (Keaton, Xander, Beruka, etc.).

Basically the children are never going to be underleveled at their join time, but since parent base stat inheritance was also massively reduced, they also won't be overpowered from inheriting their parent's bases. It's generally a massive improvement to the children mechanic and makes kids a lot more balanced (though the XP gained from doing the paralogues themselves does tend to make the next few chapters easier, but there's not much you can do about that).
