Just tuned in. C9 2-0 EnVy? Hell of a tournament. Good play from keyd, 2-2 on Ts.

Come on Keyd! I was hoping for at least 5 rounds on T side. This might be a tough mountain to climb right now.

5 wins against Fnatic on T-side on inferno would have been pretty good.

How many times have Fnatic won 3v5 situations? They are so good at it, and Olof the beast is almost always one of the guys pulling it off.

I can see arguments for and against that TSM shoul just have been more prepared then they would advance in the turnament.

Often when people discuss BO1 vs BO3 the discussion goes on that the better team has more probability to advance. This is, to me, not the issue! The better team always advances , EOD.

However, to me, the big fucking problem with BO1 formats like this is that you get to see your favorite or top team play 2, only 2, maps. And then its over, done. And this also goes for the lesser teams who have probably prepared and worked their ass off to get to the turnament and perform well, and then a team like luminosity also plays just two maps. It must be so frustrating. And for a viewer it is almost like a joke.

Well the better team that match advances, sure.
The problem is that in a bo1 the better team isn't necessarily the better team overall.
There isn't really a format where we can 100% say that the overall better team won, but the more maps are played the better obviously.
bo3 is just the best format, it's possible timewise and way superior to bo1 to have the better team advancing.
If we now get three bo3 matches where the eu teams wins 2:0 you will see what i meant with "it's bad for the viewers"

Still, the argument is terrible. When will the better team win? Bo3, bo5 bo7? In Dota its BO7 i think and so in SC2? It is equal to all.

It's not terrible and there is no definite number of games which will make 100% sure that the better team wins. (as i said already)
The point is that bo3 is clearly superior AND doable in a tournament setting.

The argument is terrible because people like you make an ultimate statement like BO3 is supperior. It is ONLY supperior if you want the teams that are slow starters, that are more skilled maybe aimwise to win.

What happened at this turnament was teams that clearly prepared specific strats against other teams. E.g. C9 vs NV.
That is more possible in a BO1, which to me makes BO1 sometimes more interesting becuase new, "sniper" strats are made. Like in BW. So in this regard BO1 is more superior and interesting.

I still agree playing 2 maps and going out is bad, but saying BO3 is clearly better is just to narrow minded.

Bo3 is clearly better. If only for the fact that we get to see more matchs.
And then its also vastly superior because it promotes consistency and overall the better teams. Is this really up for discussion?

I would go even further. In a tournament where we only have 8 teams for 4 days, round robin should be bo3s, and semi-finals and final should be bo5s ideally. More than enough time for this, and overall way better for the spectators and the players (get the show more).
