there won't be any meaningful community patching before the mod tools are released, who knows when that happens. Messing around with skyrim/fo3 based editors is sketchy atm and mods beyond graphical additions will likely corrupt your savegame down the line.

While they're not necessarily patches, I've been playing with a few minor mods that do enhance the game a bit, and they seem small enough to hopefully not cause any save file corruption down the line.

There is the enhanced dialogue mod that replaces all the paraphrased dialogue options with exactly what the character is going to say. I can't go back to the vanilla dialogue system after using this.

I'm also playing with a more detailed map in pipboy that has more roads drawn on it.

And I also have a radio mod that adds more songs to Diamond City Radio.

Even if you get the exact dialogue being said, your choices are still limited regardless. You just remove a little bit of vagueness, but your choices would still be identical regardless of seeing the dialogue.

I realize that, but I just want to know exactly what I'm going to say instead of relying on one or two words of paraphrasing. I don't want it to be like other RPGs like Witcher 2 where I chose the response "very funny" and Geralt instead says "fuck you." I've already resigned to being dragged along Bethesda's mostly linear ride, though the tone of the response does matter to some companions.

Been using a texture "mod" and some fucking around with the ini's to make the game playable on my ye olde pc (shit graphics let ur mind "fill in the blanks", which is sweet ), pretty meaningful hehe.

Has anyone else had a bug with the Railroad randomly turning hostile? I've spent most of the game screwing around building fortresses everywhere, done radiant quests for the Brotherhood, Minutemen, and Railroad, and suddenly I get a message that all my RR quests failed and when I travel to HQ they all try and shoot me. I haven't gotten that far into any questline where conflict will usually happen, and haven't even met the Institute yet.

I'm guessing I'm just kind of screwed. I wanted to support them but they just randomly turned on me. I've seen some threads on Reddit and Steam about this problem but no one had a solution.

I have been using this mod for 1+ week now and I could not go back to how it was before. It really makes dialogues at least bearable. To make them good would need an overhaul.

So I just learned how to get the good ending for all factions. Pissed as I now have to start over as I already finished Reunions and didn't bother to find the recon team etc.

The institute is theoretically one of the best chances for a technologically advanced (and therefore safe and prosperous) future, so long as it has a sane leader. If the vault dweller (you) becomes the leader, then in theory you could work to improve conditions for the synths and allow them to leave freely if they want, while also working to improve the lives of those living above ground. If any of you progressed far enough into the institute quest line, you see that this is implied in the speech you give broadcast using Diamond city radio - where you say that the institute stands to help everyone.

But there is so little real depth on these issues that most of these hypotheticals are just left to the player's imagination.

Of course there is also the brotherhood, but they're pretty xenophobic so I don't see that as a very good option. Just destroying a fusion reactor (an incredible source of energy) as well as all of the brilliant minds working there seems to be a horrendous waste of potential.

Yeah from my perspective the brotherhood is the most evil faction. They want all synths and ghouls dead,they murder the railroad, they murder all the unarmed scientists inside the istitute, they destroy the reactor and all the technology which could've been used to help people.
I still sided with them though because they are the coolest looking. Also everyone in the world seemed to think that the Institute was the biggest evil.
The railroad might be the most "good" faction, but they really annoyed me. All they do is saving synths, which isn't that important imo. And they also looked too much like some wannabe-cool gang.
