The Chaos invasion seems to be working better with the hotfix. I'm about 100 turns into my Empire campaign. I hold virtually all of the Empire territories, plus the good parts of Kislev and a bunch of mountain holdings in the East plus Zhufbar. I have two doomstacks parked at Volksgrad, plus another strong garrison at Erengrad, all of which are picking off Chaos and Norscan stacks as they come into range. I'm not sure where the purple, green, and teal chaos stacks are. I saw one badly damage purple stack show up near Bretonnia. I haven't seen any of the others, but apparently they're out there somewhere and strong. Lothern has sent like 5 stacks to invade Norsca, which is highly amusing. The doom tide hasn't been triggered yet, so we'll see what happens when they show up.

Is the change to the chaos invasion still a beta patch that you have to opt into? Or am I breaking my chaos invasion now with my weaker chaos-invasion-mod?

Thanks, good to know. Actually I noticed that I don't have a specific mod to change chaos invasions (thought I had one, but it was only a norsca nerf), so I'll try the beta out. I assume that's the 1.0.0-version (wtf?) since that's the only one that shows up in my steam?

Watched a HoC Teclis campaign video; he had stacked 100K gold. I just don't get it: how do people stack so much cash and why? I mean, isn't it better to invest it in your buildings / provinces than to let it sit on your bank account? In my experience, there is simply no limit to how much it costs to fully develop all your province. I am at under 1K every turn even when I win huge amounts of cash by sacking and winning battles...

Every time I watch his campaigns I am always like "this is the third episode, how the fuck are you rolling around with a stack of phoenix guard?" The concept of leaving my Skaven army in the same place for 3 turns to build warp fire throwers is troubling enough. Apparently I'm doing it wrong.

Yeah, I always spend everything down, too. I try to keep everything at Tier 3 to control costs, but most of the landmark buildings require that you get to to Tier 5, which is expensive. Plus, there is no such thing as having enough armies in this game. It's turn 107 in my Empire campaign and I have 43 settlements and 7 armies, four of which are full stacks and three are half stacks. My income is only about 5k per turn -- and this is with the mod that reduces unit upkeep to TWW1 levels. I still don't feel like I have enough armies to do everything that I want and need to do.

Yeah, if your making that much money you should be cranking out more stacks to win faster with instead.

As for leaving your army in place to build units. Late game I tend to have a lord just for building elite units and ferry them to my earlier armies which don't have them yet.

Warhammer 1 races are at a serious income/growth/hero disadvantage in mortal realms compared to the WH2 races. Their armies are way stronger though.

But thats why we are playing the mortal realms beta. So that they find out where they need to do changes :D.

I just confederated with Drackla Coven who had one settlement- Bear Island- because going to conquer it, even with two armies in the province, would be too much of a hassle with attrition and a Chaos rebel army popping up every other turn.
I'm not stupid, a marauder just shot my brain.

Anyone else having any issues with DX12? In every loading-screen my game just crashes for ~20 seconds.

Didn't have that problem with TWW1 IIRC. I'd really like to play with DX12 since it runs more fluid and my GPU-Fan stops pretending it's an airplane-turbine.

Chaos rebel armies will pop out even more if you confederate though.
Also a single +6 untainted building should remove attrition and push down revolt risk a lot.

Malekith's start is so annoying. Glacier and Altar are both shitty provinces that are hard to ignore because of the hostile factions there. The good neighboring province will often get conquered/settled by an pre-made ally and is fairly fortified to boot. Ofc there's also the eastern tribal jerk who will likely force you to deal with him too for more fun in the chaos waste.
Also the faction you want to confederate tends to get really strong in the region and spreads revolt risk.

Ofc he's insanely strong and there are a lot of factions that are interested in trade, but CA captured really well why nobody wants to live there.

What difficulty are you on? I've had like 3 major confederations with neighbors. I'm only on Normal though.

My last Malekith game was on Hard and I think I got a single confederation until I became power#1 and stopped playing. I really would have liked to confederate Morathi to get my second LL and get rid of the corruption, but Morathi got strong enough to beat Muzmungi (spelling?) (the major lizard-faction) solo, so confederation was impossible.

Atm playing Morathi on very hard but with mods to reduce difficulty-based revolt risk and lord upkeep since I don't think either adds fun to the game.

In the first few Vortex rituals, do you only get a few Chaos armies coming after you? I'm so behind, I have had no time to play.

but revolts are important to get more slaves ! And the upkeep is important to not field 2 armies per settlement you control.

Yes if you start a ritual some chaos stacks will spawn at a few set places depending on your army position and move towards your ritual sites. But the other big factions can decide to send an intervention force. Usually doesn't happen on the first ritual. But once they have the spare coins they'll do it.

Yes, I agree. In retrospect, I was able to get quite a lot of money by killing rebels while staying fairly contained. My view of the mechanic is so skewed since I started off playing Dawi. I don't think there is such a thing as a dwarf rebel army.

So they will send intervention forces but won't send Mazdamundi or Tyrion?

Pretty much yeah. The LLs are usually busy elsewhere unless you're on their doorstep. E.g. If you're Mazdamundi, you might have a Malekith problem. Then again, as Mazdamundi you're likely to frequently have a Malekith problem.

It's not a difficulty slider. It's fun slider. If you want to have fun playing this game don't do it on very hard or legendary

Setting the game to very hard and then installing mods that remove some of the penalties you get for this difficulty setting kind of defeats the purpose, don't you think?
