You can still use mods if you put them into your data folder though. This is the well liked Radious mod with it's Warhammer 2 mod. Once you go Radious, you will find vanilla Total War games to be absolutely unplayable. Expect massive rebalancing and hundreds of new units to come in the next weeks and months. https://www.patreon.com/posts/radious-total-2-14590575?utm_campaign=postshare&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

EDIT: Historically, the point of the Radious mod was to strengthen units across the board so that battles lasted longer. I think that WH1 did a decent job of this on its own, and WH2 does an even better job. I think Radious is redundant at this point.

In fact, the influence of SFO upon WH2 is really obvious -- particularly with the stronger legendary lords and magic. It obviously does a lot more. Changelog: + Show Spoiler + Battle Changes: - New morale system - progressive, changes during battle rapidly, various effects changed. Overall longer and more interesting battles. Big differences between races (each behaves differently). - Battles last longer - reworked melee hit chance and almost all unit stats to ensure its not over within 2-3 minutes units clash. - Almost all units are rebalanced in terms of health, stats, ammo, leadership. - Wider differences between various weapons, missile weapons, armors and shields to ensure much wider variety on the battlefield. -Complete rebalance of all projectiles - every single bow, javelin, rifle, crossbow and tons of other missile weapons has been edited to offer larger differences between types including reworked ranges, standard and AP damages, reload times etc. - Various unit abilities and spells slightly rebalanced. - Rebalanced level up bonuses for units - more experienced units will play higher role. - Fatigue numbers and its effects rebalanced. Campaign Changes: - Economy rebalanced and reworked. - Changes to religion, cultural coversion and population growth. - Almost all building effects are rebalanced, many buildings got additional effects to make any sence to actually build them. - Building costs rebalanced, higher tiers are more expensive. - Ambush chance increased on almost all terrain types. - Improved Garrisons - Garrisons slightly edited, minor citties got small boost. - Unit upkeep reduced by 50% for more possible armies on battlefield. - Experience system rebalanced, units level up slightly faster. - Several technologies slightly rebalanced. - Rebalanced diplomacy status numbers: Friendly, Hostile, Unfriendly, Very friendly - Skillpoints changes - all generals get from level 1-10 2 skillpoints and from level 11-30 3 skillpoints. All agents get each level 2 skillpoints. - Millitary morale numbers edited. - Slightly reduced effects of Vampire Counts and Chaos territory attrition. - Rebalanced conquest decisions - more options and potential gold income from various decisions. AI Changes: - Reworked AI recruitment system - AI army composition improved and recruitment reworked so AI builds more balanced armies with larger variety of units. - Rebalanced AI campaign difficulty bonuses - on higher difficulties it will be really challenge for players. Graphics Changes: - Added new logo to the main menu and campaign loading screens, representing the mod and you know its activated. - Removed dust effects when arrows hit the ground. - Removed various dust effects when army marches on places where no dust would ever appear. And those are over a year old. Much more has been modded since then, like the 200+ additional units. I'll have a look if Steel Faith offers more value with their mod. They do take more Patreon money, that much i can say.

You have a freedom to choose what your heroes do. If they're fine for solo-roaming you can send them off. If you get a new hero of the same kind from a quest that is higher level you can incorporate him into your army and send the lower level one roaming instead of simply getting rid of him. This allows for some flexibility and gives your minor heroes an alternate way to be level up and be productive instead of just sitting idly in some army guarding a forgotten fortress.

No, not really, it's supposed to be for everyone who purchased during first launch week too, sadly there is some retailer approved list which my retailer isn't on so yeah, bad luck. "How do I get it? Anyone pre-ordering Total War: WARHAMMER II through a SEGA approved retailer before release, or buying in the first week on sale, will gain the Early Adopter Bonus of the free Norsca Race Pack DLC for the original Total War: WARHAMMER. This Early Adopter Bonus is available from SEGA approved retailers only; please check in-store for physical retailers or here (http://www.sega.com/sega-approved-partner-list) for an exhaustive list of digital retailers and more details as to what constitutes a SEGA approved retailer." https://www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/comments/6o14op/norsca_faq/

Edit: Who the hell buys physical copies of games these days anyway? I'm seriously curious because I haven't had a cd/dvd/blu-ray drive in my computer for the past 5+ years. How do you even install them?

How do you even install them? I don't have CD/DVD/BLU-RAY, i just write the code i get in the box and then it's standard Steam download. Regional store pricing usually let's me save a few euro, 40 store vs 60 on Steam like in this case, so i might as well walk 5 mins to shop after work.

The old system wasn't ideal either since they probably waited to long but a turn would be nice >< (and yes I could simply not have rebels but then it would take forever to get rid of the vampires)

Apparently it's an interesting bit of convergent etymology. The word quarrel meaning argument comes from Latin meaning complaint. Quarrel the bolt comes from French carre meaning square.
