I just played the best game of my life. By the fifth round it was 4 bots + me against the full enemy team. Valve = matchmaking GODS.
And now the game constantly disconnects me for no apparent reason... Everything else works normally, just CSGO randomly disconects... Yeah I think I will take a little break from the game.
Also, "No money because you suicided" is the dumbest rule in this game. So not only I disconect, because your servers( or netcode) are shit and I lose a round. But I also have no chance of comming back, because I can't buy weapons... Yeah... Valve.

You know, when I run into some 30-x opponent and at the same time my team kinda sucks, I'm not usually mad. I always tell myself that given large enough sample I have to be on the opposite side of this.
And today, guys, I was! Finally! Dude was 20-2 after few rounds and getting carried felt good.
Then the server crashed. #fml

Ouchy. I never had that happening to me. Gosh, that's stupid.... :x

my fucking god! If you're playing with your friend, probably on TS or skype, you still have to play with the remaining 3 people on your team! You can't just never communicate except to say "lol ur all dead" when you didn't come with us to begin with! "Lets go B" does not mean "don't say anything and proceed towards A"

Why doesn't hackers just create a big button that flashes the words "YOU WIN" over their entire screen instead? It's insane how anyone can feel good about themselves after winning with cheats

I love deranking at DMG level because people push one by one with P90.
P90 solo rush at DMG level. What am I doing here....

Valve matchmaking is such a joke under DMG. A huge proportion of the players have no interest in winning a game. Trying to win solo in official MMR is the video game equivalent of throwing spagetti against the wall to see if it sticks. Diceroll. Then there's at least 2 in 10 players who are just smurfs. And the relatively huge percentage of hackers. And, good lord, why do I still play this game?
That said, faceit has led to some pretty fun and interesting games. Might sub pretty soon.

You play this game because it's fun when it's actually 5 people working towards victory, no matter the skill. :>
Also, I'd recommend trying to avoid soloQ and finding 4 peeps to play with. Helps a lot. At some point you can't fight against your teammates...

I soloQQ. It's not that bad. Don't blame rank. I suspect it's the same for most ranks. The main problem are the people who act out their inner dictators. You just got to approach solo Q with a different mindset and a different set of skills.

The line can be thin between the actual dictators and some people that feel that if no one steps in as leader, the team will just get rekt. Just that they don't know how to do it without sounding aggressive/rude/authoritarian...
I still feel that someone who leads, even if rude and/or aggressive, will still be better than no one actually doing it.

People will think you're being a dick no matter how well you're trying to lead them. Random people don't ever want to listen to other random people telling, or even asking, them to do things. It's far from uncommon to have people call me a faggot for asking them to rotate once we've seen them bomb carrier commit to a location.

That's why when I feel like it, I try to be positive and calm, trying to "suggest" rather than "order", even if the result is the same. When you "suggest" that "we should go B because I spotted two on A so only one max on B", it's better than "GO B GO B" even if the latter is shorter but people will take it as offensive and rude... Random people's attitude is actually a resource in soloQ games
People don't want to be given order, but it usually comfort them when someone give them a clear and precise objective (unless it's clearly dumb), as confidence is a big factor in the game. If everyone is left in spawn wondering what to do, it's not gonna help.

Last night I did another Operation mission to get back into the game and within minutes I was reminded of why I didn't play in a while... Horrible server performance (this has been an issue for almost every EU player for the last two weeks I think according to the numerous reddit threads, I got 5% loss and 100 ping to the Frankfurt server which is less than 100 miles away from my location and I'm on very good wired DSL internet [50mbps down, 25 up]), hackers in casual (possibly boosting to level 3) and the horrible Operation maps and goals and the fact that you just don't get anything out of doing these anymore when you used to at least get some skins directly.
Of course that doesn't matter either since I can't really use the Steam marketplace at all anymore without the damn smartphone app that really just wants your phonenumber for datamining... (We've discussed this before, let's not do it again - I know some people see zero issues with that and that's cool, I just do and that probably won't change either.)
I know I've ranted about all of this before and will probably continue to do so but I really feel like the amazing and beautiful framework that CS:GO is for an FPS esports is getting ruined bit by bit by a developer that just doesn't seem to give a fuck about anything anymore. We haven't seen major patches or bug fixes, no vac waves etc. in a very long time now when all of that's are glaring issues right now. I think I hate the thought of CS:GO dieing (for me at least personally) because that's the very same thing that happened to SC2 for me with Blizzard. Great groundwork that could've been much, much more but a dev that largely doesn't care and is unwilling to invest, makes bad decisions that the playerbase often times actively disliked and BAM. You're done.
/rant (Sorry for the negativity, it IS the QQ thread after all tho haha)

Hey NihiL why don't you play with us anymore instead of ranting on TL.net? :<
|
I don't have the time to really do more than 30 minutes a day at the moment and haven't been playing in at least 2 months, that's why I didn't join last night. Plus I lost my rank again of course so I need a full stack.
EDIT: Actually, also with the current server performance issues on EU, playing competitively is a joke for me. When I have 5% loss and 100 ping it's just not Counter-Strike...

Uh, that's weird. Matchmaking servers aren't great, but I have decent perfs usually, no choke and a ping that's matching my connection quality..
|
I dunno what's wrong, maybe it's the routing but there has been a number of reddit threads recently on the issue so it does seem to be likely on Valve's side. I'll wait and see how that pans out and if it gets better again.

There was a big VAC wave last week. The server issues somehow started right after it. Don't know how that correlates.
Have you considered playing Faceit?

You have no right to order someone around, no matter how much you believe it so. I've seen so many games where the team degenerates because someone decides to be the "leader", and so few games where team work improves because of it. Instead of saying "go B, go B, go B" spamming the sound with a useless message, instead give info like "bomb carrier Pushing b". You don't always know neccessarily what is going on and if the rest of the team gets shot in the back, it's hardly useful. The longer the game goes on, the more you can "order" someone around based on a lot of factors.
Matchmaking has been fine for me recently as well. I had 100 ping for a month about 3 months ago but it vanished as mysteriously as it appeared.
