I saw a post on reddit and surprisingly it was very similar to what I had in mind, so I have decided to ask here: 1. Back when I used to play 1.6, I remember having to change my cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate, and rate. Do I still have to do this in CS GO? Someone said no because 1.6 was like in 1999 or so where internet was not top quality like it is now. Now, with broadband and all I dont have to worry about these three commands, is this true? 2. 64 vs 128 tick. Is this exaggerated or not? I feel kinda scared playing in 64 because I know, many times I have shot people in the head and yet it missed. I know if a shot should hit or not - I have been playing cs 1.6 on and off for around 14 - 15 years. Anyway, I understand Valve official servers are all 64 tick. So....should I just not worry about this and enjoy? I just feel that you can be really good but because of the 64 tick, some shots may miss. In a way its not your skill anymore, its luck - thats what i feel anyway. Hope im wrong.

Setting it to cl_cmdrate 128 and cl_updaterate 128 should be ok. On lower tick servers, it will automatically change the settings to that. 2. A little bit exaggerated. Most people just use it as an excuse as to why they suck. Of course, 128 tick is superior, but it's not like 64 tick is completely unplayable.

So I will set cmdrate and updaterate to 128. and if i play in a lower tick server ,its going to adjust to that. But what about rates? what value should my rates be?

But what about rates? what value should my rates be? I literally haven't touched this after starting to play cs:go, but then again I don't play 128tick server except for 1v1 arenas. I found a video that touches on the subject:

If it doesn't work, just try to copy an existing .cfg file, replace it with whatever configs you're putting on, and save it as autoexec.cfg

Going straight to sparkles if I can learn how. Generally people aren't going to be bothered to download demos. If you want to show some gameplay, a better route would be to record it with fraps, obs or shadowplay, and upload it to youtube ![]()

I wonder if pros know the spray pattern of each gun and adjust/control accordingly It's one of the most important and most difficult things to do. You should absolutely try and learn the patterns. But M4 and AK is enough. No need to know them all. http://twowordbird.com/articles/csgo-recoil-mechanics/ There you go.

I wonder if pros know the spray pattern of each gun and adjust/control accordingly Not only Pros, but everyone in higher leagues will know the spray pattern (which are fixed. There is a small element of randomness, but not great enough to ignore learning it). That said, you should first learn to tap. Reason being that you need to learn to find the head. A perfectly controlled spray that doesn't start at the head is still a bad spray.

There are alternatives too such as the cevo/faceit client but their anticheats are not as well regarded. If you have some more spare time you could try to join a team which I consider the best way to improve and have fun. My suggestion would be to consider the above and decide for yourself.
