I enjoy csgo a lot and seeing fpv of people headshotting or going massive 1v2 or 1v3 still gets me hyped as well. I rarely miss anything in CSGO as a spectator admittedly partially because i play it but I also think its because the game with its round based and tactical gameplay is slow enough to see. As I stated before I worry a little about Overwatch because the gameplay is so fast, COD is just terrible to watch for me when they play domination/HQ.
However Halo was also pretty fast and a large amount of people enjoyed watching that even though I never did so I am not so sure Because Halo is super popular on consoles where rarely any good FPS can be played.

In the end I suspect pretty much anything that is played will also be watched. HS doesn't seem like a terribly exciting spectator sport on paper, for example. I'm sure there's some benefit to being easy to understand and follow but if it was a major factor we'd have different games as the top esport titles right now.

If Blizzard are smart they'll make the best spectator client we've seen to date for this game. Making it easy for even smaller organizations/teams of people to put out really high quality productions without having to break the bank, will only make their game appear better than the competition.
Things like instant replays, use of multiple screens to select observer camera/replays, auto observer mode, are the ones I can think of at the top of my head.

Well will they do more game modes? Without knowing what Blizz will do with the game its kinda hard to know what will happen competetively.

Their current one is the worst, it doesn't even have first person observing. I imagine they do have plans to fix that and ffering replay features for obsing would make sense. They already make use of that kind of functionality heavily when playing the game.

Overwatch games can be confusing due to limited vision and information, lightshows and fast pace and movement.
They should implement what salle said, but also a nice overlay and minimap to give information for viewers. The viewers should see more than the players do. The observer could toggle something like the sniper ult for one or both teams (defense or offense) visions when zoomed out. Also, some easy way to tell the teams appart.
Without this stuff it looks like a huge mess, or what it curent looks like. You see the individual plays of the streamer and suddenly victory or defeat pops. Its loses a lot of meaning and its hard to tell the cooperative tactics in the game. Losing that is a big deal since individual movement and accuracy is better in other FPS games.

they basically just need to steal the CS one and give it Blizzard polishing.
Really have no issue watching streamers in overwatch. But I did watch CS before they even used a minimap and they just tabbed through the players to see if something interesting was happening.

And HS is also mostly a streamer-thing.

That is pretty great. Glad to see someone finally dug deep into the wall running.

I imagine a proper observer mode is introduced some time during the Beta.
However if you look at HotS I'm not entirely confident. Mostly I think its important if Blizzard is working with the intent to make it an esports viable game from the start (and as such including proper spec mode) or if it is slapped on top as an afterthought (like in HotS. The fact that they use an out of game pick/ban client for Blizzcon is hilariously bad).

Hearthstone is great at suspense. the RNG of the game as well as the top decks makes it always nerve wracking to watch when amazing shit happens.

Seems like there is actually FPV observing and AskJoshy is currently casting using it, I guess Khaldor didn't find it or it didn't work for him since I was going by what he said in my earlier comment.

New hero being teased. It's just this page for now:
http://us.battle.net/overwatch/en/blog/19942649
Notable entries:
"...but I had a few more things I wanted to try out with my endothermic diffuser. (Note to self: come up with a less science-y name.) I came upon a part of the trail that was impassable and that would have required me to take a big detour. But not today! I just built my own walkway with the diffuser and went right across it. It's going to be a great help in the mountains—I know it!"
So she is apparently able to make her own paths to cross terrain. A support hero who can open up the rest of the map for her team somehow by creating pathways to higher ledges for other heroes?
"(my arm still hurts from being frozen solid a few days ago… so embarrassing!), and everything is in good working order. Look on the bright side: now that I've tested the equipment on myself, I'm not worried about using it on all the cute animals I want to study!"
Support.
Reddit also seems to think she may be the character in the bottom right of this picture since it appears to be some kind of climbing suit that includes an ice pick and a weapon that looks science-y enough to be an "endothermic diffuser".
Still, she's a female snow/cold based hero that uses endothermic tools to make things cold and create frozen pathways that she can walk on.
So, you know, Elsa.

They announced seven million are in the pool for beta. Don't feel bad, the odds are against you, and have always been against you. Me too. =(
