Not to mention names, but a close friend of knew he was bad just not how bad. He hasn't really had a reason to try hard so why though?

Maybe raids should require Gold proving grounds or something (except LFR).

I did gold proving ground and it only took me 2-3 attempts to get it (not realizing some levels had zerker things in it and going in the wrong order for killing mobs on another one). I pull 13-14k dps on butcher (which is pretty abysmal) in 632 gear (im up to 636 now but don't think it would increase too much). Ran an 11 man raid into butcher and after getting everyone to not be stupid with cleave (sometimes its hard work you know to move 2 feet) we always had our healers oom around 20%. That means we either suck at dps (everyone was from 13-18k entire fight) or our healers need better gear to last longer. I think its a bit of both but overall am happy with how some of the fights work. I seem to look at dps meters less and less because a lot of things are trivialized (ie I can pull 60k on trash before butcher because combat is stupid aoe, or I can spike to 60k in kargath because im in the stands and there are 40 mobs we pull to kill bombers/drunks, so aoe is just dumb). I think I could be better at my spec but overall I was only 500 dps under the other rogue in the group so im not that unhappy.

The problem is these particular players had a bunch of CM gear, so they probably have friends that are good enough to carry them... in which case they're not going to realize they're terrible. Maybe raids should require Gold proving grounds or something (except LFR). Gold is pretty brutal for many classes. Just do to normal modes, eh I don't know, sounds a little harsh. I think there needs to be better in-game feedback tools and metrics to measure just who is being a detriment to the raid. Getting someone to realize they suck is not an easy process. I remember when I learned to stop clicking, it was a pretty harrowing experience to grasp that I'd been handicapping myself and my raid throughout two entire tiers. People tend to take critcism like that very personally, especially given that many players in a raid setting will be about as constructive as the 50 DKP minus guy when explaining what they did wrong.

We had that issue in our raid but I had to just tell people to calm down because there is no reason to get worked up. But it goes both ways too, sometimes you need to give criticism to progress (in our case it was really stupid because our guild didn't have a voice comm thing and people were getting worked up over it and our GM was telling them its normal and you shouldn't need one). I personally don't care but its kinda nice to talk to people im interested in raiding with regularly so I get to know them? Guess thats just my preference from vanilla where we were required to be on Vent even if you didn't talk.

Also i really wish they would make better dummies. The ones in town are useless. I want one with customizable HP% so i can see my execution phase dps. I want them not to be stacked next to each other so i can do a halo here and there and not have it completely void my results. I want them not to hit back and kill my fiend...

This is actually a great point - there is a lack of in-game tools to measure performance. In my example from earlier, I posted the damage meters of the pull. But, that didn't matter because the Monk was under the impression that Overall DPS was what mattered. There was no way to convince him otherwise. I can go through a combat log and tell the raid exactly who fucked up, how they fucked up, and what they need to do in order to fix it... but that usually results in me being kicked from the raid for being a tryhard, because people just don't want to accept that they may have done something wrong and/or they are content being bad.

The current proving grounds are a joke and are literally just do as much damage as you can. That banana tosser is a good start, but not enough. Also i really wish they would make better dummies. Why is this not a thing yet? We should have in-game sims. Make a simple UI to spawn your own customized dummy or something.

I see people saying theyre doing 12-14k in endgame gear, while I'm doing 9k single target at level 94. whats that about. gear gets worse at high level. look at your haste, crit and mastery %, theyre probably better now than what you will have with 610, maybe even 630. The slightly higher dps comes from more dmg/spell dmg on weapons.

I'm hitting 17k on the fights here and it really should be 20.

here's another question, I have 4 characters over level 82 and none at 100. Would it be worthwhile to get all 4 to their garrison to just... i dunno, like fast expanding? They'd generate passive resources (plus the mine) while I'm levelling my actual main and alt and other-server main. Waste of time or potential economic advantage? Mostly wondering because what the fuck is True Iron Ore for? Why do I have so much? I'd rather have 4 forges at this rate.

If you wanne fill it with level 3 buildings on them i would say get the garrison for them now so you can generate resources on them (note that the store can only keep 500 max, make sure to empty it every 3 days). Otherwise there is less need to do so aside from being able to get the draenor profession dailies unlocked on them so you can crank those out.

Normal modes Tectus cause a wipe or two but we got him and we one shot Brackenspore, took a break with 30 minutes and got like 4 pulls on the Ogron so hopefully we'll be able to clear it on our second night (which I'm unfortunately missing due to travel ![]()
