No new Race nor Class. In Pandaria there were both, however I hate the fact that we've got a neutral race, seeing Pandas fight Pandas of a different alliance on the battlefield, seem so stupid. IMO they should've made Pandas horde and give alliance like Centaurs or smth. Also when do Locks get Finger of Death?!?!

Lore - it is vast and this story line will answer alot of questions Gameplay - Alot of new improvements made to PvE and PvP Free Level 90 - Well having that just speaks volumes to people who want to return to the game but have missed an expansion or 2. So imo it is a great expansion on the looks. I will hold off on the rank of it until i have played BETA or after im 100 On November 25 2013 19:45 Gorsameth wrote: Show nested quote + On November 25 2013 19:37 ejozl wrote: Haven't played WoW in a long time, but doesn't this expansion seem kind of lackluster? Yeah i mean i have 7 level 90s and 1 RaF Druid leveling to help a friend, that will be 8 level 90s by the end of the expansion plus i get a free level 90 when i get WoD! lol

However, the biggest difference from my observations throughout these years is that the general skill level and comfort that people have with the game have increased significantly. People have just gotten much better at the game overall, and it's as simple as that. In my hardcore days back in TBC (I was in a world top 100 guild during Tier 4 and Tier 5 content, then in a decently well-progressing guild for T6 and Sunwell), I was the best rogue and one of the best tanks in my guilds, and compared to now, where I'm just a casual player who occasionally steps foot in some flex and normal raids, I was terrible. The people I played with also weren't that good, even compared to some randoms in flex that I play with nowadays. At least to me, the difference is so massive that it cannot be overstated. Even just watching some twitch streams and youtube videos, I can also tell the difference. This is even more apparent in PvP, but that's another story. If this was the point you were trying to make all along, then I apologize for calling you out a bit earlier. I literally couldn't agree with this more (especially the bolded part). I'm in the exact same position. More than anything, people have just gotten better. Even those who have consistently been the best of the best.

Go back to doing 40man raids in Vanilla, with early 2000 computers on maybe dial up still connections or even just broadband low speed is going to have effect on many thing. Ping for a start, then the low FPS. Add into the fact needing voice comms of 40 other people its going to be pretty hectic! Now a days everyone has a 1mb connection at least, most people are playing with 30FPS + which is fine and don't struggle with lag. The casuals have rigs that are set up for high end gaming let alone just WoW xD So along with the players getting better, the players are also getting the perfect experience on top of it? Add into the fact that people can support the super easy UIs and the Addons that have been created to help show things on the screen clearer it all adds up to more people being able to hit the high end raid scale. As well as the high end players also getting these changes to make them EVEN better. Do you think that has helped too?

No. i lagged less in Molten Core on my old pc even at that time then i do currently on a decently high end machine in SoO. You could say UI/Addons but im not entirely sure that is it either. Back in ye old days we had boss mods aswell for timers and lets not talk about such things as decursive which did the work for you far more then any present mod can. The biggest thing I think is simply experience and understanding. There is so much more theorycraft being put into the game now then there was back then, combine that with years of experience and the overall player level is indeed much much higher.

Yeah my healers and mage still have Decursive on the screen tbh it is way easier than any other mod xD But i play very simply! Maybe we should start getting a few UI screenshots together see what we all use

Back in vanilla there was a cap of 16 debuffs. No threat meter for the first few months, dps meter was there sooner i believe. No nifty marks, so fights like garr and his adds took more time to setup than to kill. Threat was a big issue. Warlock curses giving mobs negative elemental resistance, which often resulted in high crits and agro, leading to the deaths of many casters and sometimes leading to a wipe. The good old 5 sunder armor rule. edit: Mana was a big issue, you need healing rotations etc. Also, hots didnt stack, the strongest hot would override weaker ones.

It has just become normal and part of raiding to inform yourself on how to gear, spec, have a decent UI etc. and I think that as a whole the level of players is higher than in in the past. On a different note, I for one really enjoy the raidcontent of SoO. So far we were able to kill 10 bosses in our first reset with two randoms and downed 11 bosses on wednesday now that we have 10 players (we raid 2 days for 3 hours). Tonight we will try our hand on the last 3, with a little luck we may even be able to clear . Normal modes definitely are not the most challenging fights, but thats what heroics are for and I think they struck a good balance from what I was able to see so far.
