In any case, definitely my most favorite leveling experience since Wrath certainly, let's hope the end-game is as fun as garrisons turned out to be (WHICH ARE AWESOME)

"Connected realms" is just a PR way of saying "most of our servers were dead and we want to save on hardware costs so we are literally combining them". The hardware was updated 2-3 years ago but that doesn't mean much when they merged ten existing physical servers into one.

Smart. Basically, yes. I'm sure there's a bit more to it than that because they started removing hardware back in January but... It's a cost cutting measure regardless. The problem is I'm not aware of them upgrading hardware again. They just tweaked the 3 year old stuff, and that had a server capacity of 7k players or so. They probably balanced it so like, one server might get two 5k servers and another.might get ten 1k servers... But in the end they still lowered their capacity.

Frostwolf is completely unplayable, as in, absolutely unplayable (instant cast taking 60 seconds and more, IF you can move to your target). Garrison doesn't work 9 out of 10 times, and the worst thing by far: Blizzard blatantly lying. DDoS? Yeah, right. Anyone noticed that the old world works just fine? Servers are up? A DDoS looks alot different to what's happening. One could say that all the logins etc in the new world act kinda like a manual DDoS, but that's on blizzard. And then there's this bluepost in the NA forum: We've had some time to evaluate the overwhelmingly positive response to Warlords of Draenor as it went live for European players, and realized getting you through the Dark Portal in an efficient manner is important. which is a joke. There can't be an overwhelmingly positive response, because the overwhelming majority can't play. As i said, i didn't expect a smooth launch, but this bullshit is entirely on blizzard. There's nothing unexpected happening. The garrison doesn't work because it's too many people trying to access it (could've been prevented by having a stress test in beta), the worldservers implode because too many people playing (again, on blizzard - how can you missjudge the playerbase so hard if you have all the data?). And then they don't even give out free character-transfers for the realms that are unplayable/running on limit. Why? Milking the people a bit more? In all honesty, this is the worst launch by far. All launches had trouble, yes - but this one tops them all. And the sad thing is, it could've been prevented (we are prepared my ass). They're so proud of their "technology", it's about time they introduce overflow-servers like Guild Wars 2 had. Brought some inconveniences, but you could play. edit: and yeah, i'm venting.

This expansion is no worse than every other one that's come out (except maybe MoP because people really didn't fucking care about that launch). At least they've improved the quest mob tagging and collectable items being personal rather than first come first served. Makes it much easier. No. Being unplayable is new though. I play on Frostwolf, i can compare the lag to other launches. Not being able to move is pretty new too. Quest mob tagging etc is moot, since half the time you're standing in an empty world anyway. I think we have different opinions on what's "playable". I will say, the Garrison minion/mission system is really entertaining for some odd reason; I've got 3 epic followers and I'm quite proud of their exploits thus far :D I like the garrison too, didn't get to use it much so far - but the moments i could, it was fun.

In EU the NPC's in your garrison can't spawn unless server traffic is low (ie, between like 1 and 9 am), which kind of fucks up the whole thing

Server to server, and max pop. edit: and Frostwolf isn't a "high pop server" in comparison to actually high pop servers (17k players on frostwolf, 73k on draenor).

Oh and they actually talk about the DDOS as well, I thought they didn't talk about it.

This launch is about the same as BC launch and Wrath launch in terms of the lag issues. Of course Garrison's will be the first thing to not work because every single player has their own piece of server for them. Oh and they actually talk about the DDOS as well, I thought they didn't talk about it. While that solution helped a ton for our North American launch, we ran into a few other issues, including a distributed denial of service attack, that resulted in increased latency. Bluepost. Now: Frostwolf EU. Not to mention, that was on launch day, neither yesterday nor today. Anything else?

It's only the second day, they'll fix their servers as fast as they can. Obviously they didn't have enough space for the Garrisons themselves. On November 14 2014 23:42 m4ini wrote: Bluepost. This is by no means the "worst launch to date" and people that think that obviously never saw vanilla or TBC, or don't remember it at all.
