It's the second day of launch on NA, third on EU. Chill. This is by no means the "worst launch to date" and people that think that obviously never saw vanilla or TBC, or don't remember it at all.
TBC is the only launch that comes close to the shittyness of what we have now (apart from D3). And back in the day they had the excuse that they didn't expect so many people to play/resub. What baffles me though is that after 6 f'd up launches there's still "insert whatever you think i was thinking" trying to defend it, even though other games show that it's possible to launch (relatively) smoothly.
It's only the second day, they'll fix their servers as fast as they can. Obviously they didn't have enough space for the Garrisons themselves.
How is that even an argument? Obviously they didn't have enough space for the garrisons themselves - is that meant as an excuse?

I saw TBC and Vanilla lol, they weren't worse than this.
This is completely unplayable. And yes, this morning it worked fine, but expect hell this weekend, as the primetime extends ^^.

TBH, playing at non-peak times on a medium pop server has been better than Cata/Wrath levels of lag and overcrowding. Intermittent lag spikes aside, the broken quests have been the only major issue.

Ok? And people think launch day is going to be smooth sailing because?
I've been playing for close to 40 hours with like 6 hours of sleep total in that (i've been either on WOD, trying to log on WOD or asleep since hours before the launch with no other obligations) - and i'm currently level 99 moving at a snails pace (10% of a level in last half hour) because it takes 15 seconds to get on mount and 30 seconds for the enemies and quest givers to phase in around me after i move to their area. This has shown no sign of improvement since launch, it's still problems to the same scale. Sometimes it has worked (constant 200 ping instead of 400-20'000 ping) but the whole continent of Draenor seems to be unresponsive to the point of unplayability at least 80% of the time. Go to Garrison or a dungeon or a BG - and boom, that ping that's 200 at best, fluctuating extremely wildly now becomes rock solid 40ms
I honestly regret not bypassing the first zone entirely and not spending half of my time in dungeons

The worst problem I've seen is latency getting really high when too many players are near each other. On a busy night in shrine, it'd cause 2-3 sec latency. When 6.0 hit and there were a ton of people in shrine, it was even higher. And with WoD, when that quest was broken and countless people were waiting on it, latency was literally like 60 seconds. When that was happening, I ran over to Gorgrond and my latency was fine. This is the issue that completely ruined Frostfire Ridge and ruined the experience for a lot of people. I don't think it's related to ddos since I've seen a pattern of it before. But maybe ddos can exacerbate it?
Since then there are have been server issues. People lagging out and getting booted no matter where they are. Maybe that was the ddos shit. Although if EU servers have the exact same symptoms, that is pretty suspicious.
edit: clearly EU is having the latency issues, so I'm pretty confident that shit isn't ddos-related at all. can maybe attribute some of NA's server issues to ddos though
We'll see how things go after this maintenance. But my suggestion is to not let yourself get strung along by WoD. Schedule a time to play and stick to it, even if you don't get a lot done, because these issues have been pretty persistent. Just make sure to try to log in early to deal with the queues.

We decided to end our 5man lan 2 days early this morning. At that point we were level 100,100,96,96,95. Varying amounts of disconnects, unfound characters etc made it impossible to level together. I reached lvl 100 shortly after my best friend. After getting to bed at around 3am the first night we promised each other not to sleep until we hit max lvl and we made sure we wouldn't miss any 5 minutes that were lagfree. The others had to travel quite some distance to come here, they slept an hour longer and had the problem that they were not able to get out of frostfire thingie.
This morning we played a few normal and heroic instances because those server have next to no problems.
Apart from technical issues I really enjoyed the way the zones felt. Heroic instances with everybody in 610 gear are entertaining. We were very lucky with our group and whenever there were 5 mobs all 5 would instantly be cc'ed so the tank could pull whatever he wanted.
Am I right that there isn't a way to farm garrison ressources? Farming rares is not a long term solution and right now not even possible. Apart from the cache within the garrison and ressource missions there is nothing or is there? Want to level that thing up but I have no idea how to afford it.

This followed us out of frostfire ridge and it hasn't really gone away yet. It's just 10-20 seconds on a ton of stuff. In combat you can get a spell off once every 3-4 globals or so

I know just about everyone is taking Tavern and Barn. Personally I dropped the Barn to get the Mill. Everyone is crazy about the Barn. I like the missions system though and I wanna level up all my followers and I think that skipping crafted gear is going to have very little impact on my ilvl. And I'll just buy the food or ingredients I need for food buffs. When I get everything I want out of missions system and have all the followers, I'll drop the Tavern and get a Trading Post, which allows you to grade garrison resources for crafting reagants. Seems like the Mill/Trading Post synergy should be good long term.

Insta picked the trade post because herbs are unaffordable and I wanted to craft darkmoon cards asap. It's one of the fun things atm to decide between doing that one other mission to level my followers or save everything up for the next building.

the game was so good from 2am to 7am on rag eu.
suffering from many of the same issues now, but on a milder scale. as long as i dont get dc'd it's all good.
the only issue is that i can't finish a quest featuring arrakoas because i can't see them at all.

I had that too. I had to stand pretty much in the middle of the big circle on the ground up there, and after a minute he phased in. Then he was invunerable whilst attacking me, then a few minutes later i could kill him.
Fun times.

As Nony already mentioned. Lumbermill gives you 20 garrison resources per work order (every 3 hours). Outside of that the cache and missions are probably most prominent way to get resources.
I don't know if upgrading your lumbermill gives you more yield per work order since I am still level 1 lumbermill.

I've played 2 hours today afternoon. It's unplayable. Massive lags, groups of people are waiting for the same mob spawns you need for your quest. To good one last you can't go back to the garrison.

This is hands down the worst launch of all that I experienced (WotLK, Cata and MoP). The game is basically unplayable from about 10 AM each morning to ~4 AM.

Maintenance extended another 2 hours.......

I know farming those rares is limited but check out HandNotes - Draenor on curse. That addon will show you all the treasure spawns that contain garrison resources.

Didn't realize so many servers would have such issues but its sort of expected with giant servers like Illidan. Cenarius-US was pretty good with only 2? crashes, both under 5minutes of downtime.
