Most people have never driven a Bugatti Veyron but I'm fairly certain they would like it better than their Ford Focus if they did, even though the Focus has more owners and makes more revenue (which by your standards would mean it's the better car).
Problem with that comparison is, WoW players have actually tried driving that "Bugatti" and many other cars. They were even told they can drive that Bugatti for free. And yet they tend to go back to their Focus and even pay for it. So really claiming that people just dont know better is wrong. And if you cant see the difference between WoW and Rift gameplay I cant change that. I think it is pretty substantial. And even if people cant recognize it, it seems they at least feel it. Which is why they keep coming back.

But people don't keep "coming back" to WoW; hence the loss of nearly a million subs every few months for the last four years. WoW is nothing more than a bubble in the MMO genre and most people that quit probably go back to playing Candy Crush on their phones instead of looking for a new MMO. So yes, it's perfectly valid to say most people don't know better because most people don't even bother trying anything else. Sales figures of various other MMOs confirm that most people don't even give them a try before deciding they like WoW better.
That's not even touching on the bigger issue of stagnation in the genre. Why do most MMOs flop? Because they don't innovate anything at all. There has only been one single MMO since WoW came out that has attempted to innovate and come up with something new, and that was Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 is successful for that very reason, whereas most other MMOs to release have been cash grabs; attempts to mimic WoW with one or two gimmicks thrown in, make a quick buck, and move on. The next MMO to innovate will be EverQuest Next and that will more than likely see success as well.
So no... I don't think any of these players have been able to drive the Bugatti yet; they're just driving other Ford Focuses with different paint jobs... maybe a sports package, an aftermarket exhaust pipe... but still the same thing as what they currently have.
WoW is an average-at-best MMO surrounded by a bunch of really mediocre ones, like a 5/10 girl surrounded by a bunch of 1/10s to make her look better by comparison. The original discussion about how Blizzard does the bare minimum to get by still stands because I firmly believe WoW has a lot more potential but there's currently no reason at all for Blizzard to put in more effort when a) they have no real competition, and b) they have a playerbase that largely accepts "good enough".

Well I dont mind anyone disliking WoW. I mostly had a problem with your positive words for Rift which I think is terribad. :D But in the end to each his own, I really dont care what anyone plays.

I quit WoW for good 4 years ago and haven't managed to find another MMORPG worth committing to, tried a bunch of games but nothing lasted for more than a month for me, meanwhile in WoW I put several years of hardcore PvE+PvP time to but I got no urge to play it anymore what so ever, game is past it's time.
Only game I even reached level cap in after WoW was GW2, I did also somewhat enjoy Realm Reborn being a FF fan but not enough to subscribe. Tera might have had slightly different combat than other MMORPG's but other than that it was just the typical Korean MMORPG, Wildstar I got bored at quite swiftly. I'm probably going to give SW:TOR another chance casually on the weekends and level with my sister, feels like it might serve that kind of purpose.
I seriously want a excellent MMORPG.

Yay, got the shoulders now! I want the druid to be my main character now, it's a very interesting class.

Just resubbed after like 2-3 years quit. No other MMO I've played has felt this good, imo.
I'm enjoying just doing the leveling process and trying classes that I never played too much back in the day. Getting that Boomkin rolling!

Bump. ~10minutes for the WoD event.

I've been playing very casually for the past 2 months, and been killing Kael'thas and other bosses every week for mount drops, yesterday I finally got ashes of al'ar and today I got the onyxia mount :D, which makes me think i've run out of luck for the rest of this year

Having played pretty much every dps class in pve, and a fair few to 2400 in 3s I really, really don't like the direction wod is taking things. I love that cc is being removed, as frankly arena has never felt so mongoloidish to me ( s2-8, and s11-now), but I really, really hate that they're removing complexity and inevitably styles of play from a damage point of view. If you look at (imo) the best designed pve ranged dps spec, demo, the options of play from both rotation to stat choices occur when a rotation becomes complex enough that the best possible option becomes many best options. Conversely, a fury warriors stat priority is pretty simple, and the rotation is linear.
The removal of stat snapshotting, tons of dps abilities (not so much cds, not hugely fond of dps cds) and reforging really, really worries me. In my opinion the game becomes more fun when perfection of something isn't so easily obtained, and while I'm no multi r1 glad or top 10 ranking player (though I am top 20 on some fights) I feel like the skill required to achieve what I've achieved is far, far lower now then it should be.
Simplifying dps rotations so even more specs are 2 button rotations a la frost dks is a horrible mistake.

Just tuned in, has the cinematic already been shown?
|
No, just talking about the expansion first

Did they really just show this short film with Kargath cutting off his left hand, while the WoD poster (and I think everywhere else also) shows him with his right hand cut off?

11/13/14 as a European looks very weird

Alternate reality where Garrosh told Grommash what was going to happen if he had drank the blood of Mannoroth. So thus, Grommash once again killed Mannoroth, but this time a lot earlier. Also as the cinematic portrays, Grommash was going to die once again at the obliteration of Mannoroth, if it was not for Grommash saving his life.
