THIS.
People can stop arguing and accept this fact. This is the reason I own all consoles in existence + a gaming PC.

Dragon age seems always graphically one generation behind. How do they do that.

I can't tell if Xbox One conference is muting the game on purpose so we can hear the crowd or they just hired the NASL sound guy and are just attempting to make it seem like it was planned.
Anyway, connecting instantly with Twitch and streaming that fast seems really cool, that's definitely a plus.

fighting games, jrpg, sports games are not all available on pc. as a long time tekken player, longer than starcraft, there is no other way. i have a controller for my pc but the moment i want to play with friends in my house, computer does not suffice. exclusivity and multiplayer is console's forte and not yet replaceable with pc, maybe one day but not yet. playing with 2+ people off the bat with ease is a good asset and enough value to dedicate a separate machine for it.

There are games that are exclusive to consoles too. Personal favourite of mine is Gears of War, and that series is the main reason I own an Xbox360. Others are Uncharted, Little big planet, killzone and many others. Besides, moving my pc from my desk to my TV all the time is a bit of a hassle.
Oh, and like Jinorazi said, when I have friends over, we fire up the xbox and play split-screen.

Controllers can be plugged into PC's, and the only thing that controllers are better for are fighting games and racing games.
Even so, this is exactly what the console market should (and usually does) take advantage of. The console is a cheaper, more user-friendly gaming experience (including a much easier multiplayer setup, allowing multiple players on one system), and it has plenty of exclusives; Nintendo is the perfect example of this and it's probably why they are the video game company with the highest profits in the world. Their consoles are full of exclusives (as in not available on the PC), they are extremely reliable and easy to use, and they are cheap (relatively). The problem with the XB1 is that the exclusives are very few (and not really worth it), it is very unfriendly to the biggest leg up it has on the PC (multiplayer and social gaming), and that it's ridiculously expensive.

Controllers are also better for platforming, run and gun titles (ex: Contra), beat em ups etc...

and controller + m/k is awesome too. i do that playing GTA or any game with aiming/driving. playing sports games with m/k is torment.

Sounds predatory to me.

Depends what versions i have a htpc with every title you just listed except mgs because i dont like it. Ive got games from nes to playstation 1 on it.
Im not saying there arent exclusives your original argument was about using a controller and it being better then pc controls. I counter by saying you can plug your controllers into your pc, you then try to counter by mentioning exclusives.....lovely logic.

Hell, games like Crysis 3 and BF3/4 are basically secret hardware commercials. The amount of people who buy new processors and graphic cards just to be able to max out these games is quite high.

It's not predatory for Blizzard to make other versions of their games because they have literally no stakes in the sale of consoles. The reason why WoW and Blizzard's RTS's are not necessarily ported onto other devices is because it's not directly worth it for them. In fact, their games run on Mac which is more than most companies can say.
Also RTSes don't do well on consoles.

I'm actually pretty skeptical about the idea that a JRPG even plays better on consoles--it's at best even because JRPGs tend to not really depend heavily on the control scheme at all.
That and I think Japanese ARPGs like Secret of Mana would play more smoothly with Diablo-like controls than with a controller, but that's just a hunch.
