Either way though, it's not like you'll need to reroll that many runes. After the changes (and with the nerfing of ap runes) there are only like 1-2 rune types per class which can't have something actively useful put into them.
I already have seven logics and i need to add like 22 rune slots to my gear.. i don't think that's gonna be fun. You forget what will only give strikethrough in the patch is actually the third most useful right now - because it lets you rune weapon specialist rune of something that doesn't completely suck, so a ton of warriors have been going fusion/fire - logic - other crap.
My GA gloves give me 15AP for a rune in second slot, so if i have 50 runes and 10 of them are not AP, it's not a small stat loss~
Just runing in general will cost significant money, unless you don't rune with the advanced or even the basic sets, and it's money that's just a pain in the ass to get or i wouldn't mind so much.
I've spent many nights farming stuff, i watched the entirety of Star Trek - Voyager (~7x20 episodes of ~40 min) in a couple months in one period watching it while farming in WoW, but there's just no motivation to do it here. It's not a reward, it's another on the long list of things that you have to do to function properly because of nothing more than broken itemization and bad choices when dealing with changing/fixing it.
The patch is still over a month out apparently, but with the removing of what little complexity warriors had and forcing this on us in a game that they made very unfun to farm in, it just feels like they're actively making the game worse :S
I played runescape, I know what true grinding is like :p
I just feel like people are blowing this wayyy out of proportion. sure your gloves give 15 ap in slot 2, but the vast majority of items (blues and purples) give a fair bit less. At the end of the day, it's not going to be more then a 4-5% dps boost tops, from re-rolling all your slots compared to just sucking it up and using the best rune for each. And keep in mind people are progressing with objectively worse gear then even non optimised maxed rune slot gear will be.
The idea that you need perfect runes to "function properly" just seems strange to me. People got world first raid bosses in adventure greens, you can easily progress without every member of your raid having the precise BiS from all previous bosse and encounters, all with perfectly rolled rune slots. Sure as dps you want to maximise your damage, but as long as you can get more then enough damage to carry your weight in the current encounter you're on (which you evidently can, as people have been completing the bosses pre rune changes,) then what's wrong with having a slightly higher gear ceiling for the 1%?
The vibe I'm getting from everywhere people are talking about it gives me the feeling people heard "rune slot rerolls" and immediately assumed they'd just get perfect slots on all their items the second the patch hit. And now that they're hearing that "only" 5/6 of the slots will be optimum, and while extra slots are easy to get, it's expensive to buy rerolls, people are acting like Carbine just made everything worse for some reason...
They've made almost every rune useful, they've given a way to add max capacity runes to items, and they've even given a way to reroll the one rune which isn't good, and they're even normalising ap runes a bit so no single rune slot is *that* overly dominant. And just because everyone doesn't get perfect slots on everything it's suddenly a terrible change :S
About the warrior changes, obviously that specific set-up just stupid, but I have faith that they'll change it. Complaining that the patch isn't coming out soon, and complaining about the contents of the PTR in the same breath seems a little silly to me. The whole reason the patch is so delayed is so stuff like that never makes it to live, so there's no point worrying about newly updated ptr stats when it's less then a few days into it's month long PTR test.
I dunno, I just feel like all the forums are becoming so bandwagony it's ridiculous, they release a vague hint of goodnews, everyone loves them. Then they release a massive improvement, and everyone hates them because some small facet of it isn't what they individually wanted, and therefore the whole patch is a disaster.
Personally I'm just having tons of fun playing, and I'll keep playing as long as there are people to play with. I don't mind if I'm slightly less useful then the guy beside me, or my numbers could be a little higher if i bought 2 credd, or if another guy has slightly higher numbers because he did buy 2 credd. And with the way the next patch is shaping up, I'm hopeful ^^
Sorry if I come off as annoyed, it's just the subreddit and forums and stuff are all so stupidly depressing lately T.T + Show Spoiler +
I had a guy on the subreddit tell me to "fuck off and stop trying to explain why my computer is performing badly, this thread is about how bad their optimisation is. This isn't a support forum, it says so on the sidebar, so take your tech support somewhere else." From a guy who'd made a whole thread about how wildstar sucks because his computer couldn't play it perfectly, with a budget, 4 year old AMD cpu... Like... what...
but as long as you can get more then enough damage to carry your weight in the current encounter you're on (which you evidently can, as people have been completing the bosses pre rune changes,)
But they're nerfing us so that even after we add all of these runes, we'll do less DPS than pre-patch according to some people, which is a BIG no IMO
Between that and beating enrage timers by half a percent, i'm not very happy as a DPS and it wouldn't feel right raiding when i could add another 10% DPS to my gear, as opposed to just small and stupid upgrades right now like the 50-100 plat gloves/gadget that are being nerfed in the drop
About the warrior changes, obviously that specific set-up just stupid, but I have faith that they'll change it
I've just had a little too much faith that they would fix or even try to improve stupid shit right now, that's all. Performance among them, i don't care so much about them not improving anything but i dont recall a single patch note citing engine improvements. At least when Planetside 2 launched with disastrous performance, they dedicated a ton of people to it for the next year, were very public, and pretty much tripled framerates when there were 50 people on the screen by reducing CPU load from unneccesary things and splitting the work onto more CPU threads. I get the impression that Carbine doesn't have very much development power and can't spare a team of people to work on this.
Cyro, if I were you I would go farm the eldan signs of fusion, rather than farming money.
At least for me that is the bottleneck for fluxes. I have 250 of all the galactium ores/augmented leathers/eldan accelerons and 50+ starshards/primal pelts etc.
I quickly bought up eldan signs of logic at 3g each from the CX, got 100+ of those, 50+eldan signs of life before I even started farming them, just from doing dailies.
Bit low on eldan signs of earth but again, haven't started farming them yet.
I've been farming eldan signs of fusions at the pell in Malgrave and i've gone from 4 signs to 40 signs in 3 days. I get around 10 an hour on average. It's boring, so hop on TS and chat with your guildies while doing it.
And as someone pointed out, you should only have to reroll 1 type of rune slot anyway. Brut is very close to AP after the patch (AP runes being 25% less effective and all that). It can be a longterm goal to turn every brut rune into an AP one but I'm not too fussed if I can't do it straight after the patch.
The massive stalker nerfs are worrying though. At least the Stalker dev has made a post in the Stalker forum for like the first time in forever, so it looks like he's aware and will look into it.
Brut is very close to AP after the patch (AP runes being 25% less effective and all that)
Yea, previously if a rune gave 20 assault power, you'd need 55 brutality to beat it.. now you only need 25 brut to beat the now-15 AP. Assuming no milestones, but they significantly help the brut runes. I'm not bothered about rerolling brut to AP so much.. I just hope that this stuff is a bonus and a DPS increase, because if i have to go out and farm for 20 hours to maintain my DPS, it won't feel very good, mostly just because of how lonely and otherwise boring this game is during non-raid-time compared to my previous MMO experiences.
I think it has been one of the worst decisions made by carbine to do a complete stat and rune rework halfway through the tier though. Having a bad system for 6-9 months is better than having a bad system for 4 months then replacing it with another one, particularly if it's anything but an across the board character-power-increase that makes gearing more fun.
To comment on bandwaggony stuff above: I agree with that assessment, but in my view they spun some very exciting news (gear being guaranteed X amount of rune slots, adding and rerolling rune slots) into a ton of uncertainty and annoying chores just to stay on par. It's extremely difficult to say that in a good way, but i've never felt this fucked in any other high profile MMO with regards to gearing and character power.
This drop -will- decide if i will still be playing the game in a few months so i really don't want them to fuck it up, i rarely like games and this one is definitely #1 since 2010 but they are challenging my faith in some areas
edit: I feel like the game, at its core, is a good and extremely fun game. The problem is there are so many surface level problems that make it hard to enjoy.
i know you at least partially agree~
Ty, it was accidental (i guess this was my super thought out and awesome post that i used my 10k on) but..

Dont go to the subreddit. It is beyond toxic, and at this point is doing more harm to the game then helping. Forms are always a fun place to be.
Come talk to us. So far i have seen nothing but good people on this thread and the Teamliquid community as always been top notch imo.
this next drop will probably decide if I continue playing or not. everything I've heard or seen about it has been absolutly terrible from the progression reset to the shitty class changes to the terribly predictable storyline developments.
the raid bosses have had stupid bugs for weeks now and thats just unaceptable. whats even worse is the idea that the drop might not be coming out this month either.
As someone who's still going through GA I don't plan on quitting anytime soon. Even if Stalkers get nerfed hard, I'll sign up to be the bloodthirst bitch so I get my spot
But once Ohmna goes down and we hit the brick wall of DS, there better be some new content to do

The way that DS is looking like, i think they dont plan on a DS clear for another good 2 - 3 months. The amp/ability point change will be very helpful, but the requirements for some bosses in DS is kinda crazy

DS hasn't been too difficult so far. I hear fire wing is a pain in the ass, but haven't been there yet. What requirements/bosses are you talking about?

These "stupid bugs" haven't prevented our progression or been too frequent. And I don't see anything "absolutely terrible" about the upcoming changes. There will be a class rebalance - that's MMOs for you. Someone always has to be top dog. And what is this "progression reset" you speak of?
Probably gear, where previously "BIS-by-a-mile" pieces like databoard and the grim-grim gloves will go from selling for 100 plat for a couple of good ones to being way worse by comparison (even though a lot of raiders have them) and re-runing from the ground up
The game, for the last 3 months has had a strict system with pretty clear rules, a lot of people spend their usually ~9-16 hours a week raiding and that's most of their time playing but generally, people have been gearing up towards goals for the last 3 months and that's being reset halfway through a tier, which is very easy to perceive as carbine "moving the finish line" in a race without proper compensation. It depends how they implement it a lot because if people percieve a money wall that they have to pay as well as a ton of their time just to stay on par with how they were before - instead of getting a sizable power boost for putting in that effort, it won't be very good. MMO gamers are used to pretty strictly defined tiers, soft gear resets every 9 months or so - not complete stat and gear reworks halfway through them.
I was a ton more frustrated at them before than i was now after reading some comments, but that was an emotional reaction and not really long term thought, i'm fine with it as long as they achknowledge that it's probably not a great idea to do it halfway through a tier if it really comes down to reworking stats/gear on such a basic level, and they don't make me pay 30 plat just to match my pre-patch DPS. When we've all gone and fixed gear, maybe not perfectly optimized it but fixed it, we should see an increase in threat, survivability, raid DPS, healing etc

There was some bug ages ago where guild leaders had their genesis keys reset, was fixed within a few days or something
I know of that bug but I thought they never were able to fix it. Less of a profession reset and more of a 'whoops so your guild leader can't raid anymore unless he rerolls' thing.

Are you on Hazak? Everyone is on Hazak. At level 50.

Yeah, unless you have a very specific reason to not be playing on hazak, go to hazak :p
Also, Amp/ability points this week. Was expecting the dungeon changes, but this is a nice surprise
Should be a nice dps boost so people can make a last surge through raids before the class changes make everything wild west again. ^^
