Spend your money on crafted items for now and focus on runes later post-patch.
Yea i got that, thanks. If patch hits tonight i might only have ~2.6p plus whatever i can earn today. I need some elder gems too, before the reset, so that i can start attunement soon. Aside from that, i guess i can start lvl 50 stuff ~.~
My gear should be far superior to someone who just dinged 50 without buying anything, cause my AP went up by ~1.45x with the crafted gear.

Nah i do, like i said im moving around alot because i just got back to the UK so im using a 4G dongle, which has ridiculous data tariffs. Its not too bad as long as i dont try and download MMO's Ping is great! Not so bad considering i can abuse my sisters 100mb line almost at will.
Im glad you guys are on a big pvp server though, means i get to play with ya!
Just heading out to run a few errands and buy it now. Me and my wife were mysteriously too sick for work when we woke up this morning.
From what i understand the classes/paths are pretty evenly distributed? I dont care about being OP but i hate playing the overplayed race/class in MMO's.

Aha i didn't understand
What kind of ping is "great"?
Hazak isn't in the UK so i have about ~33 ping to it usually. Wildstar seems like it would be very painful at 100 ping
for PVE, ping can be slightly annoying, because server often adds 10-20ms to process your request (not always! it just happens sometimes), and for example movement on dashes is not calculated until you finish a roll - which means that if you dash out of an effect, it's not calculated until 50ms -after your dash finishes- if you have 35ms ping and server is delayed a tiny bit. That can be tricky and unintuitive, and i imagine a big mess with 100 ping.
For PVP, there seems to be some minor issues with netcode. I see player models outright teleport and flash between multiple locations sometimes, particularly when they're being dragged or knocked back - i still waste movement cooldowns because i'm not actually sure where my target is, sometimes - but i didn't do much PVP so i'm not sure how big an issue it is.
For class: Just.. Don't take spellslinger.
Medic is worst DPS by a mile, warrior is worst tank, they're both getting improved AFAIK. I'm not sure how many SS DPS there are.. but probably a LOT. pepew!

Dammit cyro we had this conversation before in tech support and then into PM's! We exchanged pingtests to valve servers, remember? D:.
My ping is always under 100. 50-70 is the norm, 80-90 if its being "off" and that's generally for a few minutes. Thats to EU stuffs. For example i get ~50 to EUW League of legends servers and generally the same on CS:GO.
Its not as good as a proper connection, but its alot better then you'd expect for a wireless dongle. I doubt i'd get 100 ping, i get ~110 to a WoW private server in america. I'd imagine it would sit around 60-70, maybe lower.

Ok, no spellslinger, i thought that would probably be the most overplayed along with uh..the claw guys. I want a warrior but i suck at tanking, love healing and no spellslinger leaves me with medic/esper, esper is apparently the least mobile of the classes so i'll probably have to roll a bunch of chars and level them to see what i like, its probably a duo of warrior and esper or medic though.
Cya in a few hours D:

Oops, yea! Sorry, my brain is not good at handling more than about half a dozen people at once. The memories are in there though :D
Esper's getting patched, like, tommorow to be able to move while casting certain spells. You can get a decent impression of classes just from playing lvl 1-7.. which should take you about an hour if you've already done it, maybe 1.5-2 if you have not. Stalkers are not really overplayed i think, and they're solid.
|
Ok cool, i'll take your advice and level each class to 7 today then i think and then pick my favourite and sink my teeth in.
|
There are actually surprisingly few spellslingers, at least on my server (Contagion.)
Maybe they're just all on exile, but the vast majority of dommies here are espers/stalkers/engineers. I'm the only spellslinger in my guild, and there are only ~6 of us in the ~90 man dungeon circle i'm part of.
|
Class wise there was a survey done recently. Espers and Engineers were the least played character, but overall they're all very close.
In terms of end-game DPS, it's currently Engineer > Warrior > Stalker >>>>>> Spellslinger > Medic > Esper. However, a big patch is coming to rebalance everything so you shouldn't read too much into it right now.
Roll a class based on how you like it and what role you want to play, not what is FOTM.

Took way longer then i wanted to get it setup but im finally in and playing lol. Takes some getting used to though, the UI and all the popups in different parts of my screen are pretty disorienting and shit tbh but i can already feel the gameplays going to be amazing. Some guys dueled me at level 4 and it was so much fun even with like 3 skills lol. (Ofc i beat both of them, i AM from TL afterall.)
So uh, any recommended addons? Perhaps to clean up the UI or smooth over a few things?
Also what are your IGN's on Hazak? Ive got an Exile warrior atm but im about to roll a dominion medic and play with that for a while, then probably a couple others just to experiment.

Here's a post I made on my guild forums about my addons:
Here is a list of all addons I use in the game. A list of addons you must have for raiding are at the bottom. Suggestions are welcome.
AMP Finder - Useful for leveling alts to keep track of where AMPs are.
AuraMastery - Complicated but very powerful addon to keep track of buffs/debuffs, procs, etc. Very useful for boss fights, such as Experiment X-89, where it can notify you that you have a small bomb/big bomb. Fortunately you can share/import settings so you don't have to dive into all its settings yourselves.
BetterPartyFrames - Redesigns the party healthbars so they aren't so poorly designed. Health and shields will always be fixed lengths rather than the seemingly random default ones. Particularly useful for healers.
CandyBars - Customise your action bar layout.
Clairvoyance - Puts an alert up on your screen whenever you are snared/disoriented/stunned/rooted/disarmed so you immediately notice.
CommodityStats - Scans the commodity exchange and adds a little section at the bottom of tooltips that are usually on the commodity exchange detailing their highest buy order price, lowest sell order price, etc.
GalaxyMeter - DPS/healing meter. I recommend this over NexusMeter as that is bugged and is no longer updated.
Grid - Especially useful for healers but others may also use it. Shows a grid with all your party members making it easier to see their HP. Draws an arrow showing their position relative to you making it easier to find them to heal them up. Also shows icons for debuffs so you can see who needs dispelling.
GroupRadar - More for dungeons than raids where it gets a bit hectic. Draws arrows around you to where your party members are if they are more than a certain distance from you making it easier to keep track of them.
Interruptor - Very important addon for dungeons and raids. Shows the cast bar of your target or focus as well as how much interrupt armor they have making it much easier to keep track of. Strongly recommended.
MagicMail - Mail addon. Easily take all items/gold in your mail.
MinimalistPlates - This is my preferred nameplate addon right now. It is an offshoot of Bijiplates but with all the memory leaks fixed, so the performance is much better. It is very customisable, with class specific colours, the usual height/width changes, shield, and the ability to automatically move a unit's healthbar to the bottom if it does not fit on the screen (particularly useful against big bosses etc).
Movable Frames - Allows moving or hiding of pretty much everything in the game including datachron, etc etc.
MrFancyPants - Easily switch between your LAS and have a preset set of equipment for each bar allowing you to easily switch your gear rather than hunt for them in your inventory.
Nexus Panel - Bar on the top of your screen which contains useful info such as repair bills, various currencies, your FPS and ping, etc.
NoOfflineRoster - Adds a checkbox to hide offline people in guild and circle lists. Also removes the lag some people get when guildies sign on/off.
nPrimeNameplates - Another nameplate addon which also looks very good. Not quite as customisable as MinimalistPlates but looks shinier.
Perspective - This is what people should be using instead of Trackmaster/Ayth_Quest/Entspy. It replaces all three of those addons with one highly-customisable addon which tracks nearby objectives, mining nodes, your weapon if subdued, your focus, enemy flag carriers, food/lost caravan members in Malgrave Trail, champions in WotW, basically everything. If you only can choose one addon out of everything in my list, make it this one (and Interruptor :D).
PotatoUI - Replaces the default player/target healthbars, sprint bars, dodge bars, cast bars. Very customisable and I feel it looks a lot cleaner and is easier to get information from than the default Carbine set.
ProcsHUD - Less powerful but automated version of AuraMastery. If you find AuraMastery to be too complicated and want an addon to automatically track your own buffs and spells then use this instead.
SpaceStash - Inventory/bag addon which also does auto-sell for junk items and so on.
TapThat - Does all minigames such as Simon Says, press F at the right time, etc, for you. Don't press any keys, just let the addon do the work for you.
TheZone - PvP addon which tracks all nearby enemy plus/minus allied players, telling you their class and whether they are possibly a healer or not. Useful for BG's and world PvP.
ThreatMeter - Threat table for the target you select.
Translator - Allows you to understand what Exiles are saying.
WhatTheRune - Allows you to open the rune window wherever you are by typing /wtr, making it easier to check what materials you need to buy off the CX. You still need to be at the rune crafting station to actually craft them, however.
WillYouBeMyNeighbor - Harvesting circle addon. If you have a gathering profession this allows you to add other people of the same profession to your neighbor list. You can then visit them to harvest their nodes, and they can visit your nodes to harvest yours while you are busy with other things or offline, and you will receive a portion of everything. With mining this gets me easily at least a plat a day by doing very little.
---
If you are raiding, you must have: - AuraMastery - Interruptor - ThreatMeter

Thanks alot!
EDIT: Well i wont be playing medic. Holy god who came up with the idea of defibs being their weapons? They look ridiculous, oversized with strange proportions. Time to test out something else!

Got hold of a trial pass, finally got time to test this game. Anything special one should think about before jumping in?

Addons: +1 for Minimalistplates, very good. Performance hit is a fraction of bijiplates, literally, and nameplates are very important. I'm still sorting out my UI (i left it til lvl 50 some) so i'l be looking at that list too (:
Before jumping in.. err.. not sure, the game can feel a little overwhelming and weird at first with lots of new stuff and no addons. It gets better when you understand basics and you have time to make a more comfortable environment. REMEMBER TO CHECK THE INTERFACE/VIDEO OPTIONS FOR FIELD OF VIEW AND MOUSE LOOK SPEED
I think the default VFOV is ~50, but i'm using 80.
It's vertical FOV, not horizontal, so the number is different than usual. Normal stuff uses say 90 horizontal.
The default is ~79 horizontal, which is too low unless you have a small screen or are sat far away from it.
for ~90 horizontal, you need to change it to 59 vertical. A lot of people use that value.
I'm using 112 horizontal FOV, which is 80 vertical ingame, for a 24" screen that's a few feet away.
Also the mouse look thing, i have slowed it down so i have to move the mouse like 1.5x further than default i think. It's nice to have it twitchy, but the default speed is extremely fast IMO. You can't lower/raise mouse DPI, because while that would for example half the turn speed, it would also lower your sens in the other areas of the UI, which doesn't help. The option decouples the two sensitivities so that you can adjust one without breaking the other, so it's great to have.
This is "basic comfort" stuff that can make it painful to play the game for even half an hour if you dont know about, but if you spend 15 seconds fixing them it's way way better. I can imagine some people, especially those not fussy with mouse sens ranges being fine with default turn speed, but the default FOV is kinda ridiculous for a PC game, especially an MMO/FPS. Somebody with a pretty normal setup (24" screen a few feet away) shouldn't have to expand the default setting by like 40% lol
Holy god who came up with the idea of defibs being their weapons?
Resonators!! pepew!! :D

Really enjoying this game so far..just been messing around with classes all night.
I really cant get over the medics silly weapon style though, i dont think i'll ever be able to play one, espers on the other hand are pretty awesome. Warriors and Stalkers are both badass. Stalker was able to 2 hit most stuff from stealth once i left the starter area into the first zone, warrior just bashed stuff.
Cant wait to hop on again tomorrow, too tired to get some proper play in today.

The first thing i did with spellslinger was activate innate and oneshot the first mob to kill with my basic attack. I was shocked, but it kept happening - i could oneshot stuff with charged shot, and well it hits five targets at once.
I somehow got a really overpowered weapon around level 5, so i continued oneshots all the way to level 10 or so. It was crazy. SS alt was fun.
Cya tommorow, i'm going back to bed now too. I fell asleep half on my bed fully clothed earlier for 5 hours by accident because i got up at 3am to ding 50 ^.~

Finally :D Definitely not. I've done Skullcano god knows how many fucking times and I've never seen it drop.

Pretty disappointed only the humans / cute races can be Espers. Fairly sure its going to be my main at this point but i wanted to be something badass. Not a human. (Chuas are retarded, the Female aurin are nice to look at sure but i am not rolling one )
