For a spectator the only thing boring about Marvel are the combos because a) you've seen these same 10-second-long combos hundreds of times before and b) everyone is at such a high execution level now that a combo guarantees a dead character. The space control and footsies tension is way more exciting because the stakes are so high, and the mixup on incoming characters is so refined now that pretty much the first character to land a hit gains a tremendous advantage. The other really cool part about Marvel is ironically X-Factor, because even though it's a comeback mechanic which so many players started out hating, it's frequently the only way a player will be able to even have a fighting shot due to the prevalence of touch-of-death combos.

BlazBlue and Guilty Gear are definitely both tough to follow visually when you have no idea what to look for. (Subjectively, I think that the most popular stages in MvC3 having less stuff going on in the background makes a difference.)

P4A is comparatively easier to follow, but I'm sure you can think of a bunch of reasons it's kind of crummy for spectators.

no one mentioned this yet, but there will also be the first X-Mania tournament(Super Turbo) outside of Japan, so that should be pretty hype. ST was probably my second favorite game at EVO 2012, and that was just for an exhibition tournament.

Kind of annoyed to see KI as a main game, since I don't think many people play it anymore, and certainly nobody's going to give a shit about it in July. Then again, the turnout will probably be higher than SFxT or Tekken or whatever. P4A still pulls in decent numbers, but I guess they don't want more than one anime game, so that makes sense.

I don't think that there's a game that's been released and isn't already in the lineup that would get more entrants than KI. The hype has died down some, but not by too much. Either KI or KoF13 will probably be the smallest games at this EVO, but I don't think KI is really stealing a spot from a more deserving game (you can argue for a 3D game just so EVO can have one in the lineup, but the numbers for all those games are really low right now so KI would probably make for a better overall tournament).

Its really a shame that it had to come to this point with no Tekken at EVO but i think Mr Wizard has had to been looking at the crowd support for the game and realised that there were better options out there.

It just seems to me that the fall of the 3D games has much more to do with how the ones playing the game presented it to the general public more so than the game it self, everything is presented in directions and numbers like Back2+3 and as someone who dosnt know what the hell that means, that makes it really hard to learn the game without playing it yourself. I can remember watching the first EVO SF4 event without ever having touched a fighting game and within the stream hitting the finals i was able to couchcoach the game, noticing when players made mistakes but regardless of how much i watched Tekken i still didnt understand what the hell was going on and why the person winning.. was winnning if that makes sense?

Oh and on that note.. Injustice again? sigh.. that game is so borring

I dont mind injustice being back as it gets a lot of play at US majors and brings in a different community that wouldn't be there otherwise, I just kinda hope it doesn't get that 3rd to last time slot again, cause that really killed the hype last year during the top 8s. That spot belongs to melee imo.
