I wouldn't be too sure of that considering Swagkey is getting mighty popular

So correct me if I'm wrong regarding breeding: The everstone passes down the nature that you want while the destiny knot passes down five IV's from either Pokemon, which would yield the best chance for a perfect status. Let's say I do breed a Pokemon with five perfect IV's, how would I manage to get the 6th perfect IV?

Luck. You have to rely on the chance that the parents pass the correct 5 IVs because of Destiny Knot and then you have a 1/32 chance of getting 31 on the 6th IV.

OK - so for example, if I breed a parent with 31/31/x/x/x/x IV stats and the other parent with x/x/31/x/31/31 stats, where x = imperfect IV stat, then there is a chance for the egg to hatch with IV stats of 31/31/31/x/31/31 or some variant of that, with x having a 1/32 chance of getting the 6th perfect IV?
Or is it once I get the 5 IV Pokemon I use that to breed with a ditto? Not sure what to do here, but my goal is to start breeding 6 IV's Pokemons.

In your example, you are breeding a 2 IV with a 3 IV. While there IS a chance you can end up with a 5 IV offspring, the chance is pretty low. You are essentially putting 5 perfect IVs into a pool of 12 parent stats, of which 6 are chosen to be the offspring's stats. 5 out of 12 isn't the best odds, so you want to keep swapping out the parents with the better offspring.
e.g. generation 1: breed 2 IV with 3 IV. get a bunch of offspring, of which a few are 4 IVs. generation 2: pick out 2 of the 4 IVs that are perfect in different areas so every stat is covered, make them the parents. offspring should end up including a few 5 IVs. generation 3: replace with 5 IV as parents now, and pray that you get lucky with a 6 IV baby
|
The thing to note is that getting a 6 IV child is not always the best competitively. Pokemon that don't use their attack stat should have 0 attack. There are also some pokemon that prefer having 0 speed.

Holy shit, Crawdaunt gets Aqua Jet now as an egg move!! This makes the crawfish so much scarier with Adaptability STAB priority AND a heavily buffed Knock Off. I might actually use this dude. Something like Swords Dance / Aqua Jet / Knock Off / Crabhammer could wreck some face in whatever tier is below where Azumarill winds up. Crawdaunt actually does MORE damage than Azumarill with Aqua Jet, though in exchange for worse defensive typing and far less bulk.
I'm excited to try this out now. :o

Thanks! Just printed these for easy access so I don't get confused.

This makes a lot of sense. So pretty much it's a matter of trial and error such that it's very rare to get 5 IV pokemon off the first breed, because most Pokemon are by default 2 or 3 IV (2 for safari, some are 3 by default excluding legendaries). The best way would be to keep breeding until you get some 4 IV's that fit the criteria that you need and make them parents -> breed again to get 5 IV's. ^^

Right, such as trick room Pokemon?

Such as Ferrothorn/Gyro Ball users, Weather Leads, Aegislash (unexplored), and yes Trick Room pokemon. I'm sure theres many many cases that I've forgotten.

Breeding tip #1: Incest is wincest.

You keep breeding and using the offspring to breed with their parents/siblings to generate better offspring. Basically you keep switching the pokemon at Daycare when you get a good egg with more IVs, to improve the odds of getting what you want.

Oh, so breeding with the ditto is kind of like to kick start the whole process, and once you hatch a Pokemon with more desirable stats/traits, then you use that offspring to breed with the parent. Thanks for the clarification!

On November 06 2013 06:15 Fazers wrote:Why/how? sorry for many questions, I want to learn as much as possible. When IV breeding, the offspring you produce will generally be superior to their parents. Replacing the parents with better offspring will allow you to get better and better IVs over time. For instance: if I have a Charmander with a 31 IV in Speed and a Charmander with a 31 IV in Attack, and they have a child with 31 IVs in Speed, Attack, and Special Defense, it will accelerate the process of breeding a perfect Charmander if I replace one of the parents with that child. As you get better children, you swap out the parents for those children for higher chances of good IVs in future offspring.
I just said that the way I did because I was trying to be funny.

Anybody need 4 IV bold/wish eevees. Got some to give away.(I have hidden ability ones available as well if your looking for eevees with anticipation). I have a 5 IV eevee to give away as well, it's got ATK somehow if for some reason you needed an eevee with atk to breed with something.
I'll gladly take any 4 IV/5 IV pokemon in exchange, but don't feel obligated.
I also have a few 4 IV females for trade.(these were a pain/time consuming to get so would like something in exchange ....) Got 2 4 IV Gale Win fletchlings for trade/give away as well. Got 5 IV 31/31/31/X/31/31 Adamant Multiscale Dratini for trade also have a shiny wingull for trade
LF 4/5 IV Pokemon to speed up breeding, just lmk. Also looking for a stored power(egg move) / hidden ability eevee.

Man, I really hate Talonflame and the influx of Prankster users. It makes Baton Passing so much harder / less effective
And yet...my profile along with almost everyone else's has Talonflame as their favorite pokemon since you just walk around and breed with it hahaha.

Wow so turns out I can't make the starmie with the hidden ability yet, because friend safari doesn't have staryus.
Soooo I am going to start properly on a reuniclus. So wish me luck! Still need to find a safari that has it, but should be easy enough. I think I might catch reunicluses until I find one with the right nature, then get my dittos with 3 perfect stats and that reuniclus to breed a ton till one or two have 3/4 ivs, then keep breeding. Fingers crossed it won't take long to get a perfect one.
Then might go scour the interwebs for charmander safari...and then for the one I want I think I need egg moves...ergh..yuck...don't know how to transfer egg moves once it has them..

Feels so bad to see the trades here now that I beat the game and am catching all the pokemon. I want to breed, but the head starts offered here look so nice. Also, what's the best way to earn money in the game? I'm actually kind of low after buying all the TMs and stuff.

Make sure you use Amulet Coin + Prize Money Power(these are essential :D... )
Battle Chateau runs(I think there is a challenge you can issue for richer opponents) The sushi restaurant and 3 star restaurant in Lumiouse City
Be sure to do the daily battle with your rival in Kiloude City, and then there is a daily inverse battle which gives you good/rare items sometimes Route 18.
That's about it, I think elite 4 works too but its slower/pays less than other options.
Does anyone have pokerus i can get? I can give you a wish eevee in return.
