Yeah, according to wikipedia "the game's budget was around €4 million".

Planescape: Torment is curiously absent from your list... my all-time favorite for sure. If you haven't played it... you need to

I hate having to research a game before I can play it, or figuring out midway that one stat is godlike so my playthrough is screwed.
Sure, my team wasn't really good in PoE, but it got me through Hard, and I had fun figuring it out on my own.
GOTY 2015 so far. Best RPG I've played in ages, and I never really got into BG/Icewind Dale. But this one is way ahead of D:OS, DA, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun, or all the others I tried but quickly forgot about.

Quick help with the Blade of the endless paths:
+ Show Spoiler + I got all the pieces and from what I understood the forge guy in the crucible knights would be able to assemble them (maybe I got it wrong ?), but the city is not accessible now, and I'm wondering if there is another guy or if he is just gonna be accessible again later. Anyway, I just wanna know where and when to make the blade, spoiler away if necessary.

+ Show Spoiler +You got the right guy, but after the incidents in the city you can't come back there. Too soon. Wander about in the general east direction. At one point you should realize/learn you can go back to the city, then you can reforge the blade.
In short: don't worry, you have still plenty of time and opportunities to make it.

If you are really enjoying pillars this much you should give Baldurs gate another shot, at least baldurs gate 2. I enjoy both (PoE & BGII) but BGII is still a better game, the world is way bigger, more interesting class mechanics and a better story, most importantly, one of the best video game villains ever written imho.

Might be too technical this question but + Show Spoiler + If siding with the dozens against the knights how low can your reputation with the knights get and the guy will still create the sword? Doesn't affect me this playthough just wondering for another time.

Technically is PST 'since' Baldurs gate? :p. Although no, I haven't tried it. I'd like to but I'm worried the combat would be too crap, and I see combat as a big feature. Same reason I never got through nwn 2 interface and engine is so clunky. I admit I have issues completing games though, tend to play the first half like 20 times and never complete it.
Also don't knock morrowind it was a severely flawed gem but a gem all the same imo or at least it was when I was 15/16! Instead of building on it they went in a direction not to my taste.

In PS:T combat is kind of minor annoyance, not too frequent and rather easy so you click few times and get back to talking which is majority of the game.

The spells in PS:T are awesome though, at least the endgame ones.
They do get quite old fast, but still. Also, funny thing about PS:T was that the majority of items were some weird trinkets. I think there's like 0 swords in the game as well.

Can confirm, Planescape Torment is awesome. I probably prefered it over BG1 and BG2 although I played it much, much later (in fact, like 2 years ago). Sadly, I couldn't experience the last 10 minutes on my own because I had a graphics bug which I didn't manage to fix.
However, the game is hard to get into, some people will find it too obscure. But after the first few hours it gets more and more interesting.
I haven't played Pillars of Eternity yet, but I will probably do so at one point. As for Divinity:Original Sin, it wasn't that fun for me.

The other thing about PS:T is the heavy influence TNO's mental ability scores play on the availability of gameplay/story options, far more so than in pretty much any other D&D/Infinity Engine game. If you really wanted to explore the game to it's true depth, you kind of had to make a gimped character from a combat perspective in order to push all your mental ability scores as high as possible.

Anyone has some advice on what would be the most enjoyable difficulty for solo play without abusing traps or weapon swapping? I'm just looking for a challenge that would work on a roleplay style character.

Okay so I picked up Planescape Torment because some guys here recommended it and the dialogue is really great. Does take a while to get used to the interface though

I'll give PST a go, I mean I like the stories and all but tactical combat is as if not more important for me overall so be interesting to see how I like it.
