I miss NWN/NWN2 type of character building :D 3.5E multiclass rules are fundamentally broken in a lot of ways. I'd kind of expected something along the lines of 2E's simplified dual/multiclassing, but I'm not surprised they took it out. 3.5E multiclassing probably seems broken, overpowered, powergamey and all you want if you're a hardcore roleplayer. If you're a simple CRPG player like me, they felt pretty good to tinker with :p. Kind of like a JRPG job system, but I get that PoE's crowd is not out for systems like that. Roleplaying in video games is something I usually build on my own and not something I like to be forced into by the character building system. Let me make a rogue/sorcerer/monk for all I care (and I wouldn't even want to multiclass NWN monks, those are super good :D).
Well, I'm not saying that I would have wanted the same kind of freedom anyway, just some form of multiclassing. And better talents/feats too. The +X%, +10 Y attribute and such is a bit bland.

So I've just finished the temple under the city.so far I can say I'm in full love with this game. My only question to the folks who have completed the game: -can you find iconic/legendary weapons thruought the game that makes u want to reroll immediately? I'm talking about stuff like celestial fury, dragon plates kangaxx ring etc?

its the first game i have payed full price for and i dont regret it one bit. this game is awesome.

The game does neither feel very personal, nor does it give you the feeling that you have to succeed now. In fact, i don't even know why i should go after this leaden key, there is no threat to me. That was what made BG1 and BG2 great. YOU were having a huge problem and you were forced to move forward. In PoE, i really can't tell why i should do anything.

Oh, an empty castle, i should totally take this one for me, good that it has a ghost steward that can build the castle without help, i just need to american express some copper and she is good to go. These things are usually done to increase your experience because you feel like you have more impact on the world, but it's done so clumsy that it feels absolutely artificial. It's still a great game, and it might become even better the more i play. First world problems :D
I thought story start to opens up in act 2. It's really reminescent of BG1 story pace to me as far as story goes.
Overall I like it better than BG1 (without mods) mostly because I think the combat and classes are way better balanced. But hey... tastes.

It's totally viable to make a mage that is no a hulking monster due to maxed might. You can max int, dex/per, use an arbalest and pick control spells that your int just made amazing. The enemies in the game aren't MMO bosses, you don't need to figure out what is best optimal DPS, when 3 crossbow bolts usually kill that dangerous backliner and can be fired from your mage/priest/chanter/whatever in your backline.

There's far more to the game than BG1. BG1 and 2 combined are my favourite games ever bar none, but I think this is a genuine contender and is certainly better than unmodded BG1.
To beat BG2 I'll have to be going back to it in ten years, but I have not enjoyed a game this much for a very very long time and it will only get better as it's patched and tweaked.

Is it just me or are chanters fuckin worthless? I had to dump the one I met at the statue near the beginning and created a barbarian. One of my main issues is that when there are like 4+ mobs, I can't let combat flow for even 5 second without one of my people being 3 shotted. Its bonkers how much hp human enemies have compared to me. Its weird that i have a main character with 80hp and i regularly get hit for 24-30...... Plus I really still dislike friendly fire on aoe spells. I can shoot a fireball like a fucking sniper through 3 mobs, only to have it bounce off a wall and fuck my whole party. My other complaint is my guys are like level 3 or 4 and I can't do aedrics (might be the wrong name) keep. I made it about halfway through before I encountered a group of paladins and guards that surround you the moment you come out of a door. So I went back to trolling every corner of every forested area looking for wolves and shit to kill. Its getting kind of boring. I'm trying to play as strategically as possible, but when there are no chokes to abuse, I get wrecked. Even with a decent party setup =[

Enemies don't give a lot of experience if that is your purpose for finding shit to kill. It gives a small amount up to a limit and then nothing. Quests and tasks is the way to go.
You can also come back to the castle later, it's an optional quest. I personally did it on level 4 with 4 guys on Hard but after that I feel I rolled over the main quest combat up to where I am in Act 2. So maybe you should try to continue the main quest to level up and re-attempt Raedric.

I think I'll have to do that. I honestly haven't even looked at my log. I don't even know what the main goal is for me right now lol. I swear I'm not stupid, I just don't pay enough attention. I'm one of those guys who has never read the quest text of a world of Warcraft quest, and I've played hundreds of days worth. I'm trying real hard in this game to stay on top of all the stories though. Fucking ADD....

Chanters aren't worthless but Kana have pretty poor stats and skill selection (like all companions), they can make really solid tanks that help other party members survive or okay ranged dps that increase ranged dps of whole party. Summons are really nice, on top of that 12sec paralyze that hits 1/4 of the screen in cone.

Does anyone whose far into the game know if there are any +unarmed damage type items later in the game? I'm rolling a monk right now, and I don't know if my damage will be able to keep up late game compared to fully decked out enchanted gear

There are "good" powergamey systems, but D&D 3.5 isn't one of them.

the only other RPG system i know is dark eye and i quit that after 1 session because it was annoying BS

I only noticed one. Didn't look for them though since I didn't have any unarmed char.

So... I'm abount 30 hours into my game, only to realize a lot of these game breaking bugs have affected my game at some point through. Like my Eder has 77 deflection completely naked . Do I just start over now, or try to finish this bugged game out? Can anyone post a list of all the known major bugs so I know what to avoid next time through? I know of the double-clicking gear one and ofc the Eder save one I just mentioned, are there any others?

Definitely bugged, my lvl10 fighter who take very little damage at path of the damned has lower stats when naked.

It's pretty hard to build monk well to keep up with other dps classes while being survivable enough to use your skills.
