I actually think KOTOR2 had a good idea where one could pick a subclass past a certain level of progression. It wasn't done in any particular depth, but mechnically it seems sound. Each subclass could positive and negative characteristics compared to the base class so they're not straight upgrades. For example, the wizard could have a subclass with a buff to physical combat (maybe even special spells) but weaker spell damage or duration. It's obviously pointless pondering about ideas that will never be implemented, but I guess that's one way they could incorporate a multi-classing model into POE. It's also possible to change NPCs stats through the console.

Some of the campanions lack character, but thats fine. The art work is really nice and so is the music. I'm a huge fan of BGII though this game is comparable, it really isn't :p how far are you in the game? the companions get flashed out much more during act 2 and 3 and they interact much more with each other and the quests you are doing. (at least aloth, eder, durance and kana). at first i was a bit disappointed with the companions as well, but now after i am almost done with the game, i think they did a fine job. improvements are always possible of course.

What they did is make you be able to use athletics and similar abilities in the story board. Giving you multiple ways to solve different problems. So one time you fight through the enemies. The next time you talk your way out of it. Or maybe you jump over the cliff and get a sprained ankle or not. It could have been developed more but the direction is one I like since it makes the same place play out differently due to different stats or choices. I don't know if I expressed myself correctly but what I ment with puzzles was, how BG2 let you interact with dungeons. For example move the whole dungeon through planes to access different location, feed coins to a machine to give you come items, let you increase stats, riddles on where to place items in order to unlock some chests, summon creatures on an altar to provoke a reaction, feed dogs some food to change a certain battle, ... . The list ist endless. Along the main quest there is non of such interactions. Seriously, I can't understand how you can prefer the little text adventures, which have not much impact at all, over some really exciting and unique things that BG2 let you do to interact with certain things in dungeons. I also disagree on the fact that this is less exciting on a second playthrough. I don't believe that many people remembered how to solve text based riddles in BG2 out of their head on their second playthrough. For the things that you could actually remember, I agree that it isn't as exciting the second time around but when you figure it out for the first time it is just way more rewarding than going to a dungeon, maybe talk to some NPC and then slay some monsters and cash in the quest.

they could have done more choices that will influence an upcoming fight or dungeon instead of giving multiple ways to reach it though.

People do remember these on the second playtrough and they get really annoying (first time they are good tho).. I mean: "The princess is fucking 20 and the prince 30...". The "riddle" in the planar sphere is top, bottom, left, right. That you have to walk over the word amaunator in amaunators temple or get burned is also more annoying than anything else. You Need an amulet or the Shadow Dragon will attack you, most Players will have built that Thing by accident before entering his room anyway. Answering the ~20 statues in watchers Keep is also not exactly "cool" the second time. And "gathering item XYZ and putting them on Pedestals XYZ according to Note 1-X is not exactly a "riddle", on the second playtrough its just a memory test.. Was there actually any optional riddle with any real effect? (Oh, yeah the one were Bodhi gets your romance NPC/Reviving it... At least that was like the only one that didn't feel obvious, it actually felt very random to me the first time) There is tons of small stuff that was cool, like summoning stronger and stronger Mobs in watchers Keep (until your lucky enough with your saving throws to beat the beholder :p) and all the "random" and non mainstory related stuff that happened in the underdark. Feeding the Umber Hulks... The hidden Sphere, Kangaxx, the Slavers Mansion or that moment when you first found the hidden door in the gate quarters tavern and just run back out asap :p. There is tons of hidden stuff and ways to solve stuff in dungeons that make it awesome, but for sure not the riddles?

Even the the riddle with the prince and the princess just adds to the overall experience in my opinion. Yes, on the second time around it get's old but things like that, as plain and simple they may be, just add another layer of things to do. Also I don't think that a game should focus on making the second playthrough as unannoying as possible. It is a bonus sure but at the same time I don't really see how solving a riddle like the prince/princess thing is worse than fighting the 10th trashmob in a certain place. Same with the almaunator letters on the floor. It just adds to the overall atmosphere and lore to the temple and I prefer that a lot over going into stealth mode and disarming a trap or fight another pack of monsters. And I totally agree with all the random cool stuff that BG had. Parts of a skeleton scattered all across Atkathla? Where does that lead to and what might be the reason? Clicking on a door and suddenly be trapped in a planar prison with some of the most powerful mages shooting fireballs at your face? Cool! A fucking blade that trashtalks? Hilarious. The freaking drow princes wants me to force to sleep with her? How the fuck do I get out of that? POE doens't have a lot of those things. It's understandable since it was a kickstarter project but in all honesty, I miss it dearly since that is what made Baldurs Gate so unique and awesome.

Luckily I only lost an hour reloading a previous save.

My Eder is just a immovable object on normal difficulty now, borderline immortal even if he is far from min/maxed. Meanwhile my Barbarian has 20k lifetime dmg while Aloth has only 1.5k, I now gave up on him ever doing dmg and started picking up control spells. Sagani doesn't seem to be doing any dmg either and doesn't bring anything else to the table so might have to switch her out.

Like loosing all your passive bonuses or wierd NPC stats boosted through the roof.

Bugs in this game areslowly corrupting your savegame, especially the guy who programmed buffs debuffs and attributes really screwed up. Put your Eder naked and look at his deflection, pretty sure he is corrupted like mine and has like 30 more deflection that he should have, making the game easy mode trough no fault of your own.
