yup, tech 13 for cannons, earlier they are (were?) just neat for sieging forts, but don´t really make any difference in fights.

Artillery is always worth it when you have the money. They attck from the 2nd row so you do more damage and they also give half of their defense points to the unit in front of them. They're not essential though so if you don't have the money for it it's better to build regular units up to fl.

edit: this is about cannons in the early game obviously, after that they're essential.

Early game, I usually get as many cannons as my economy can support. But as time goes, cannons becomes more and more important.

So i am pretty rich (+20g) at Tech 9 (Ottos)... So i kick all Ponys until i only have ~4 left and fill the army up with Cannons?

In Ottoman you do not need cannon rosh. Their cavalries are pretty strong in early - mid game.

Just hire an additional army instead. Force cap is not a hard cap, it just makes your forces more expensive. Thus, if you have too much money, you can just hire more dudes. Will probably be more useful than cannons at TL 9. Or build a fleet. Fleets are pretty useful. If you already have one, build a larger one. Or a second one.

I'm not sure but I think better relations kver time only affects the decay rate.

Yes, that's exactly why I was stacking modifiers, but as you can see in my screenshot, the advisor and humanist ideas modifiers aren't applied.

Better relations over time has nothing to do with improve relations.

I know it is horribly formulated, but what "better relations over time" actually means is "bad relations effects go away quicker". So, for example, if you have bad relations with someone due to AE, that will go away quicker if your better relations over time is higher. Or if you have bad relations due to some other event that is shown as a negative modifier that ticks down, that will also go away quicker.

i think positive relation effects also go away slower

Unless vassal have claim/core on province it gets -1000 modifier if it is outside of his culture group.

It's not worth it the first generation I don't think. They're really expensive on maintenence and would be better spent on mercs to win the manpower race.

another question:

My Papal match got pretty rough. I dont have a single ally left in the world and everybody hates me and joins coalitions.
I did not want to fight all of them at once so I declared on austria while I still had a truce with the others.

Then the truce went off and Poland allied Austria during my war. And now the strange thing: I can't separate peace out Poland! It says that they're in the coalition but that can't be true since they joined later and because Austria called them in.
What is that all about?

you cant seperate peace coalition members and because you were the agressor you fired the coalition and Austria was able to defensive call people into the coalition.
