Some different colored ones (maybe three or four shades at the least) would be nice too. It's a bit jarring for my sub-Saharan playthrough.

Doing a custom nation MP game, should be p good. Did a randomized list of the ppl participating and 1st on the list got 1st pick for location, 2nd on list picked 2nd, etc. I picked something like 7th or 8th and took the Bohemia/Brandenburg/Danzing/NW Poland area:

300 points total, only allowed to use 160 on provinces. My capital is Stettin so I can trade in Lubeck. I am going with primary culture Czech, so Stettin is Czech, which leaves me with only 1 non-accepted province (Vorpommern). With my current setup I start with Saxon and Prussian accepted and Czech/Silesian/Polish cultural union. Seems more optimal than trying to go with Saxon since I would only have Czech accepted (no Silesian accepted and no Polish til I can take a bunch of provinces from Poland, which will take a while). There are players in Denmark/N germany (we share a border in Mecklenburg) and Austria (he has Bohmerwald/ostmark).

Still figuring out ideaset, but am obv going heavily into military ideas. I have around 120-130 points to play with after buffing my ruler and heir. Here's my first attempt:

Definitely plan to go with +15% morale as 1st idea for 30 points and +10% Discipline for 30 points as 6th idea. I will likely also go with +10% arty combat ability and +10% infy combat ability for 5-9 points each, and having -10% idea cost for 10 points as a tradition seems like a no-brainer.

Besides those, I am struggling.+Cav combat ability is very cheap (+20% for only 18 points!) but would only be super useful as a tradition or 1st idea (where +20% it would cost 36 points), and getting +15% morale seems like it would be almost as good early game compared to +15-20% cav combat ability while obv being much better mid/late game. +Manpower idea seems garbage (+7.5% is free, but +30% is 30(!) points, same with force limit (+30%/30 points). Leader fire/shock costs 30 points for +1 which seems way to expensive. +1 Yearly army tradition and -1% army tradition decay both seem good for only 15 points. Really though +10% discipline for 30 points seems ridiculously OP.

For non-military ideas I'm more stuck. Due to the N. German guy owning hamburg/lubeck/sjaeland, I'm not going to be able to pull a ton of trade out of lubeck. I'm not sure if i should try to counter that by getting something like 10%+ TE and 15%+ Global trade power, or just go with tax/production/goods. I am also not sure what gives more benefit, +goods produced or +PE%, or +Trade power or +TE%. +10% tax is a tiny benefit but only costs 6 points and helps my income a bit at start, but totally open to changing it. -10% Accepted culture threshold might not even be needed but might help if i try to expand into Germany and keep Czech culture.

Random questions since I've had this game for like 2 weeks.

1) Is there a way to quickly stack units?
2) Are games normally epicly long? My first 2 successful games were over 24 hours play time each...

unless you only worry about the other human players , reduced aggressive expansion impact should be one of your earlier ideas because even when attacking different culures , you can still rack up the ae , and if a coalition forms human players will join in. Reduced coring costs is also nice in the lategame if you want to blob a lot. tolerance of the true faith is almost as good as -national unrest if you dont want to turn protestant later, and it costs very little in points

also , changing your dynasty name doesent cost anything , but having the same name as an established dynasty will give you the same "dynasty modifier" (my new world empire was ruled by a "de Valois" so i could force a PU with france later)

I will probably be shiite (dat morale + piety mechanic) or hindu (diety bonuses). Or maybe reformed? But hindu and shiite seem better. Lol catholicism. Maybe I'll take +1 missionary strength to help converting

1) I am not exactly sure what you mean by "quickly stack units". If units are in the same province, you can just box them and click the "Merge units" button, if that is what you are talking about.

If you are talking about quickly building an army from multiple provinces and stacking it up, you have to build and move the armies manually (but once again you can just box all of them and rightclick one province to move them all there), or have the Art of War expansion which allows you to do that automatically.

If you are talking about moving units around between armies, you can move all of one type of troop using the buttons on the top of the "exchange troops" thingy, and there is a button to select all mercenaries and move them into a new army, too.

2) Yes. I don't know the exact numbers, but lets say a day in game passes in 1 second real time (This sounds like a reasonable estimate, you can be faster or slower than this). A full game takes 1821-1445=376 years (I am going lose with the edges here, i don't really want to calculate exactly after all)=137240 days. If each day takes you a second, this leaves you with a game time of 38 hours.

My other idea was taking Ottoman tech group for -4 points, take +cav combat ability as 1st idea or traditions, and whore godly 2 shock cav and invade my n-german rival ASAP to secure the juicy trade ports and hopefully force him to go west (leaving me with n/central germany) or into scandinavia.

Another potentially sick starting area (might even try a SP game here to try it out) is West Africa. You can start with 3-4 gold mines and Ottoman tech group costs only 15 points. With +goods produced and -yearly inflation I started the game with something like ~30 income. Only major problem is there is basically NO manpower in that entire area.

I'm not sure how the caravan power changes affected things but HRE inland steer spam is one of the reasons why Lubeck is such a good trade node as you have disproportionate trade value being sucked out of the Ragusa / Wien / Rheinland nodes.

So with the 1.10-1.12 changes I suspect Lubeck becomes a less attractive trade node (while Venice becomes better since you don't have 2934958 jackasses taking out all trade from Ragusa)

Another potentially sick starting area (might even try a SP game here to try it out) is West Africa. You can start with 3-4 gold mines and Ottoman tech group costs only 15 points. With +goods produced and -yearly inflation I started the game with something like ~30 income. Only major problem is there is basically NO manpower in that entire area.

Another very underrated idea with that setup is -reduced interest. At a certain point, combined with economic, you can actually use loans to fuel buildings that will generate larger returns than the interest you pay.

East Africa isn't too bad (I had theorycrafted an opening with Tuscany that allows you to flip to a Muslim republic with control of 3-4 gold mines in that area within 30~ years assuming you have some luck with Cosimo living 5 years from start - its an incredibly soft area and is one of the rare areas where you can guarantee first-cycle religious rebels. Of course with nation designer you no longer have to jump through hoops to do such things...). Zanzibar is in my opinion the strongest trade node outside the endnodes. But you'd need Western tech to optimally abuse that excellent trade position.

well , you havent responded to my earlier suggestions , but fine , have some more.
+ Yearly Prestige has gotten a lot better with the last patch since getting prestige out of battles is a lot harder now. I also dont like your ambition, + Land Leader Siege would help speed things up a lot when you carpet siege huge areas later.

You can change the ideas in custom nations :o . I didn't know that. After reading the conversation here I can now see that the titles are click-able. I like the system a lot more now that it is possible to get - core cost in single player.

+1 land leader siege is 30 points. +10% siege ability (1/2 of what you get from Engineer Corps idea in offensive) is 5 points. I'd much rather have artillery combat ability mid/late game.

I do like the +yearly presrige idea, +1 yearly prestige would only be 10 points to take as a tradition, might take that instead of +10% national tax and just come up with -4 points from somewhere else. Would probably wind up increasing early game income by more than the national tax anyways.

Why did you take so many ideas related to economy? I'd swap them for ideas that reduce monarch point cost of expanding instead. You have a lot of high base tax provinces, so you should have plenty of income left after maxing out your force limit.

Also, maybe it's gambling, but why not make your ruler/heir awful so you get more points to buff your ideas? You can make them general and hope they die soon.

I haven't played the game much since the patch came out. But isn't it a better idea long term to get the best ideas you can possibly get, even if it costs you monarch points/provinces at the start. Though I guess in a multiplayer game you can't start too small, so taking a lot of provinces should be a good idea.

I would be kinda worried to be Shiite (or any non christian religion) in that region.
Everyone will be bound to pretty much hate you AND you take huge AE for even minor gains.

You probably can work around it, but you do one mistake and the entire HRE or/and Poland/Lithuania + their allies will jump you... Also, iIf another players is Catholic and gets to be Papal Controller your pretty much screwed.
