That's true but you kinda miss the point on this one. Even if RNG can screw you up right at the end of the run, a good run is still a good run and people will watch it - can't really say for Yellow (since Nidoran is a different story), but not everyone like to watch reset every two minutes on Blue and prefer to follow the run once it gets going, and since it can take a loooot of time, the numbers of people watching will increase with time. Even if nerd's dreams will be crushed 49 times out of 50.
Edit: Fuck Deathguise, btw.
I'm not sure how I'm missing the point. I was attempting to stipulate that Yellow being able to screw you over so badly is why having a good run near the end creates more interest. Unlike in other games where if you get past a certain point it's just avoid something really stupid RNG wise and you're golden, in Yellow having a good run up to the end means everyone gets to see if Lance is going to wreck the day.
I have to agree with Raelcun on this one. Yellow has some of the highest risk of a pokemon speedrun and near the end theres a ton of things can dick you for no reason other than fuck you. Today was just a kind of perfect storm for Werster. He'd already gotten a WR earlier, he was starting to put a decent amount of time ahead of his PB and the WR, there was all the crap Gunner had started by saying he was going to crush Werster and make him retire. So there was a bit of everything going for that run aside from the fact that its a really good run. Thats not even mentioning Werster had been talking about times earlier in the run and said that 1:55 would be a ridiculously good time and theres still a bit of time he can save (his Attack was kinda low and some slightly bad RNG)
I just watched that yellow run werster did, I didn't even think 1:55 was possible considering in werster's own spreadsheet for records he put that 1:57 would be the "insane time" and that run was 2 mins faster than that.

Simple rule in speed running - Never put a time estimate on a game
my personal collection:
"I think 358/2's perfect time is around 4:25:00" - Drazerk 2013 (Current WR 3:35:53) "I think Chain of memories will stay 4-5 hours anything lower is insanity" - Drazerk 2012 ( Current WR: 3:01:45) "Sub 12 FF9 PAL SS is impossible" - Drazerk 2011 (My PB is 11:50:42)

In other words if Drazerk says something is impossible its probably not and hes shit at estimating In all seriousness though CoM got seriously destroyed in the span of a couple months.
On a different subject, I wonder what's everyone opinion on WindWaker HD ?
From what I saw mainly from Cosmo's 24hours stream, everything important works except for Windwaker Dive which means no storage and no superswim.
I personnally like it. I'm going to miss storage because it allowed for some really cool stuff.
But I won't miss superswim. Yes, it's fast, but it's annoying to see so many runs die on those and I don't find them fun to watch (fast sailing isn't fun either, but still).
I think the run, even if a little longer, will be more fun than original WW to watch. I hope some people will run it. I'm also sure we can find some new stuff with the new mechanics.

And I really like that superswim is gone, the runs got so silly with that stuff.

But, but... Cyclos.....
You can technically get the Swift Sail (the super speed sail thing) after Dragon Roost, it shouldnt be that much of an issue.
I guess it would waste time going DRI > Windfall > DRI > (whatever the Island of the Deku Tree is called). But I guess you should get Swift Sail during endless night after (whatever the Island of the Deku Tree is called) when you get Bombs

My bad, I reread the initial post.
While it can be true, a lot of those numbers are just people who watch because "WR is possible". Of course they'll enjoy Lance going wild or a Gary's crit first turn but I don't know if it's a decent enough reason for a whole bunch of people. On Wind Waker, the last minutes of a run are awful (8~ min of cinematics, "mwahaha" spam, and an easy battle) but when a WR will be set, thousands are joining the boat just for the final split.
New WWHD Record is now 4:49:15, which beats the WW Tunerless record (with storage)
Yeah, fast sailing is really fast ! And this is with English text. Someone already did a comparison between standard WW JP and WWHD English, and JP was still faster, so I'm pretty sure WWHD JP is going to be faster too !
I think the biggest time saver is that you don't have to get wallet upgrades and farm the ghost ship to decipher the charts. You do have to farm Joy pendants for the Cabana, but it's faster.
I'm so sad that I have to wait for October 4th to get mine (I live in EU) :-(.
people saying gunner isn't going to stream anymore until he gets a huge donation (and because werster owned his wr like a day letter) what a fucking sook. how can anyone watch a person with that mindset.

Whenever I watched his stream I never had a problem with him but if that's true, wow, I don't think I'd want to keep watching a stream of a person like that either.
From what I've heard gunner said something along the lines of "werster should quit in shame" for losing his record and now after he gets put on blast and gets beaten so clearly by a large amount of time he's just going to quit?
