Then I realized that I couldn't take advantage of such an amazing deal since I don't own the game yet. Then I realized that it's an amazing way to make people buy the game. Amazing. Buying the game now, if you really want to play any of those factions someday, is a fair idea. The game's gotten fixed enough to warrant purchasing, despite constant patching. If these three factions don't strike your fancy (they don't for me, personally...), then it'd be better to wait for the sale. ![]()

EDIT: You probably mean against other units, not each other, lol. EDIT 2: Derp. Spartans don't have "Royal Peltasts." -.-' Switching with Macedon.

According to the stats, Swordsmen have better charge and melee defense. Peltasts have better melee attack and slightly better armor. Logic tells me they're better in a defensive role, but peltasts kill stuff quicker, so why bother, lol? I'm with you: use Peltasts. Silver Shield Swordsmen don't cut it in that fight. Perhaps against high-attack, low-defence enemies, Swordsmen would make more sense, but Peltasts should be your go-to despite that.

EDIT: And I abuse the hell out of my royal peltasts by using them to set the edges of my line and hold my flanks. Whenever I do my 1v2 army fights, it's usually my royal peltasts that take the brunt of the enemy attack.

And anyone ever figure out how effective the initial barrage of javelins are before they engage in a charge? Just thought of it, never really bothered to see the results because I rarely use all of their ammo.

Though I found out that phalanx formations instant kill elephants(What unit type are elephants placed in again?). The engine probably just doesn't account for that interaction at all.

I think i've noticed something similar before but I think its that the AI uses the "kill elephants" command when they turn amok which happens very fast when they run into a wall of phalanx.

Oh. That's a little more logical. But realistically, shouldn't they trample pikes like twigs, lol?

It's the most comprehensive so far, by the looks of things. Darthmod and even a Europa Barbaroum mod may come out in the near future as competition.
