Well, at least they are only in the same group. Xian, Kindevu and Ryan Hart are all in the same Pool D04, which means one of them won't make top 64/32?

They have never NEVER had vods available in any form before. Its literaly the most annoying thing about evo that I hate every year.

Don't sweat it DJ wheat you introduced me to evo and I'm really thankful for that. The Fgc is really like the reddit of esports.

True. This doesn't change anything though as 640pp videos aren't worth any money at all.

This has been a major problem with the fighting game community for... well forever. Just recently it was a breakthrough that CEO used Challonge for their brackets. I have some major issues with the FGC and this lack of coverage. Additionally, I hate that their commentators don't reiterate what "stage of the tournament" they are at. You can't really watch an MLG, NASL, etc without getting that information, "We're about to jump into the semi-finals... blah blah". It's amazing how many times I've come into a stream later on, only to have no fucking clue where they are at in the tournament cause the stream doesn't say so and neither do the commentators.

Of course, they haven't been covering their scene the same way we have since 2000.

Challonge brackets have been used since 2009, as well as Tonamento, which is no longer used but worked similarly. Every single Wednesday Night Fights, Big Two, and 8 on the Break weekly tournament uses Challonge brackets. They're not always used at majors, in large part because there are so many games and many of them take door registrations and have paper brackets created on the spot, day-of, plus some tournament organizers are notoriously hard-headed about changing their ways. Not disagreeing with the overall sentiment, because I definitely think online brackets and such make for a much better viewing experience, but Challonge brackets at CEO was nowhere remotely close to a breakthrough.

yes it is, and its fuckin bullshit ...

Yeah, I bough it in the end. They only said subscriber for hd vods, not for the stream archive. I hope it goes really into the scholarship or supports spooky.
Still, it seems like some underhand tactic. Its the same like Keits' divekick kickstarter project (60k $ lol). I don't feel comfortable how the fgc sometimes handles these things.

I don't see what's underhanded or questionable about the kickstarter project, unless you have a problem with ALL game development kickstarter projects, because it's exponentially better than most.

I meant the suscription for stream archives was underhanded imo as you could not get information beforehand and only if you clicked on the twitch archives.
As far as divekick is concerned, the method of a kickstarter project was fine. I just feel like the game, which was originally intended as a joke game is taken more serious than it should be. 60k $ for such a project is a hefty sum. Although I don't mind if I am proven wrong if it gets funded.

Thanks for clarifying, and sorry for misjudging what you were saying. $60k is pretty tiny for legitimately publishing an independent game, and if you don't believe me, look up some of the other Kickstarter projects for game development. Independent games frequently go into the hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost, even simple ones. Keep in mind also that they only decided to go forward with it because it has gotten such overwhelmingly positive feedback by people who have actually played the game. Before that, it was going to be a one-time thing for UFGT. Compare that to most projects in which people basically have to be told that the game will be good, and it's a much safer, smarter investment for most.

As for the subscription thing, if it was marked I wouldn't hae a problem with it, but it not being announced is not a good look. I kind of suspect it's actually not supposed to be like that, though. I could be wrong, but it seems kind of like a glitch with the subscription model.

Unfortunately, the way the first post is arranged is leading to some confusion. each letter group is basically just a time the pools are run. Each letter/number combination is a separate pool, from which 2 players (one in winners, one in losers) will advance.

We'll that's a bit confusing. Is there a bracket (as gigantic as it would be) posted somewhere?

Persona 4 Arena stream going on here: http://www.twitch.tv/xiei life from the Evo ballroom. The game comes out for consoles in August, but they've got it there and will be running a tournament. Casuals going on now. Kubo is there fom Japan and is considered the best Akihiko player, so I expect him to take the tournament when it happens.

the thing that evo does better then any other event is having almost no downtime and no static air in the longest of streches at an event.

Really didn't know how much I missed that from other esports events.

Yeah, this is why MLG is borderline unwatchable for me for fighting games. There is way too much down time. The average FG major runs 3-4 times more matches than MLG does, which makes for a comparatively poor viewing experience. The 7-10 minutes per half hour of actual gameplay is great, and the interviews are cool sometimes, but the 10 minutes of listening to the same 5 dubstep songs on loop while watching a crowd sit there...nah, miss me with that.

Brackets are usually done on paper which makes it a hassle to recreate online (though australian majors OHN and SS2k12 both did), and its usually the finals bracket which is fan-made on challonge.

A main issue that I have is with the records keeping in the fgc,
Most of the challonge brackets for the weeklies are not archived anywhere with a master list. I couldn't even find out the overall point results for WNFAE Season 2 or how the evo points were distributed after trying to google around let alone trying to find results from previous seasons.
The Coverage Hubs are not well archived either and while you can hit them in Google now, it'd be preferable if it was organised.

Bottom line is, Liquipedia has made following SC2 so easy that it'd be nice if everyone else caught up

Also something important to note on the Divekick project is that it is a Kickstarter and not just a pure donation drive. They're raising their money through pre-orders, etc. for the game and not just asking for handouts. To me it seems perfectly legitimate and Keits has been very transparent with his plans and goals for the project which is why I personally have backed it and why I included a small button in the OP.

EDIT: On the Evo front, Floe just said hes already in losers for AE from a DQ

Also something important to note on the Divekick project is that it is a Kickstarter and not just a pure donation drive. They're raising their money through pre-orders, etc. for the game and not just asking for handouts. To me it seems perfectly legitimate and Keits has been very transparent with his plans and goals for the project which is why I personally have backed it and why I included a small button in the OP.

EDIT: On the Evo front, Floe just said hes already in losers for AE from a DQ

Can't argue with any of that. Once again, it's pretty much a for-players, by-players scene that is getting adjusted to having a significant for-spectators element. Somebody has to do all that compiling, and for the most part, people prefer to spend their time organizing, training, and competing than doing largely thankless work that primarily benefits non-players. Things are moving in that direction, though.

Floe got DQed? That's...not surprising at all, considering he was up late getting bodied by IWBTGG.
