The game works very much after a sporadic development schedule. The devs are working on several things that will branch out the game but wish to combine it with deeper versions of current elements too. Things like tree planting, animal husbandry and witchcraft are in the works but not fully worked out so whilst these are being worked on patches like the last one fill the gap.

Quick couple of question if you don't mind. Will there be another server wipe on game launch or other times ? Will you integrate the ender client or work with him so he can release stable custom clients on updates ? Quite funny indeed. In any case, anyone knows how you can get a key? On the salem webpage there are key waves every 24 hours or so. Tough i got my key from the gamesite that was linked in OP. http://beta.salemthegame.com/

Hello my dearest community! Thanksgiving is upon us and we wish to celebrate this very pilgrim-y holiday with you all. On November 22 -- tomorrow that is -- all players with active accounts will receive the Colonial Relief Package, which comes with a Dream Catcher inspirational, a deer hide to warm any lean-to or home, corncobs and cornbread, and even every pilgrim’s favorite kind of turkey – a dead turkey. The in-game store will be loaded with other new offers as well, allowing gamers to give thanks in style. We hope you enjoy our little gift and find the new items in the store exciting. I am at least, because I know what they are already. I'm genuinely excited. Keep in mind that our time limit to sign up and get the Original Pilgrim's outfit also ends by thanksgiving. So make sure to tell your friends to create an account before then so they get their piece of the pie. The actual Original Pilgrim's outfit won't come by thanksgiving though, but some time later this year. Regards, John from http://forum.salemgame.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2264 Hoping like hell that the corn is plantable ![]()

They've added some "updates" recently, including butchering the camera further so the game is completely unplayable with the default client, ruining raiding, and making it harder to play without using the cash shop. Playerbase is back down to about 50 players and still dropping. I'm really afraid to ask but... is anyone still following this? I think I saw alfyma post on the forums recently but other than that...

But idk, ive been keeping a watch on the games updates...but tbh its pathetic the pace and even the focus on some of the updates. Feel like the game sorta sealed itself in the ground after they focused on that stupid multiple server shit instead of putting in more content.

I mean, they gave out what, tens of thousands of beta keys? You'd expect more than 50 active players from that. If that's the kind of retention rate they are aiming for then I'm not sure what to think. The concept of the game is still something that greatly interests me. It just seems like with every update the developers show incompetence and it looks more and more like Haven and Hearth was an enjoyable experience due to sheer dumb luck. I've literally gone from thinking "Hey, these developers are geniuses! They have some amazing ideas!" to "Well these guys must've stolen Haven and Hearth from someone else's mind because there's no way it came from theirs." I think everyone who played at the start with us would agree that it was incredibly fun. But that was what, nearly a year ago? And if you log in now... you certainly won't notice a year's worth of changes. And like you said, the big changes they work on are all really bad. Multi-server was a terrible idea. The new camera system was a terrible idea. And now they made a new combat system that was so awful they had to revert it a mere one day later due to outrage. Here's a crazy thought in case anyone reads this. Quite a few people in HnH/Salem also play Minecraft... what about making a Minecraft server to emulate Salem? I'm just pulling ideas out of my ass because I think a Salem-style game would be immense fun to play with TLers (as proven in the past) but I can't see Salem itself working out for that.

Work on multiserver support when they don't even have enough people to fill one. Huge breaks / silence with no communication. It's sad, i love the game style they were going for. Just seems that everything else was poorly executed, which turned so many people away from it.

Now, I'm just frustrated at the fact that I (like the original pilgrims of course) had to make a fricking childhood mask and maracas toy and STUDY said toys to be able to build an axe... durr... Let's drop our players in an unknown world with limited avenues of interaction, most of which will COMPLETELY DRAIN THEIR RESOURCE BARS (dig) while at the same not giving them information on how to interact. Oh and the forums are largely worthless too. I'd love some help, please. After investing two hours of my morning into this unpolished tripe, I'm a little incensed.

I can see the fact that they want to keep it hardcore, but it makes no sense (to me) to make the game super hardcore from the start. Let people enjoy the game for the first 20-30 hours of play and then start making it hardcore. You will have more new people playing everynow and then. Just by doing this even the non hardcore players may still play when the game start getting rough just for the love they grew while playing the first couple of hours. -Making the study system harder by studing different curios (the all-so-annoying 3-1-3-1...) could be a good thing IF they put it from level 10 foward. Granted that studying is easy once you have all 3 skills for learning and a high B.B on the character but that comes at a "medium" level. -When they took out the random purity levels of the world it was a BAD idea, don't take it all away just cut it to 4/5% max. If it gets to easy you can make it that after an X amount of time the world shift the purity levels randomly, so you have to go out and look for The perfect spot again. Exploring the world at first it's really fun, you get to find new biomes and new items.. once you knew all the differents biomes you start by looking for the sweet spot for purity and biomes... but now you only look for biomes. -Playing with some people but for few hours a week or playing alone takes away the fun of playing the moment you have to invest all the time you have just to farm. Even if you have Lime terrains right next to you and a sled, you still need to go out for hyde, coal is the only sustainable resource you can have with little investment. Getting your farm to high level purity takes a lot of work. With random purity around the world you could skip the tidious process of farming untill you are high enough that 4, 5% purity doesn't cut it anymore for you. But getting to that point with your character will take a lot of hours of playing, so by then you really feel that it's right for you to invest a lot of work for the sake of leveling your character; at the moment by the time you hit 50 on your humors you need to start farming like a madman if you want to have progress. I havent played in a long time (couple of months), so I don't know about the combat system changed you speak of Serejai. Granted the skills for combat were useless, people where still using thrust and run with wandering* on for max-efficiency. So I can see their try of changing the pvp system, at least they try. The only 50 people that are still playing may be the hardcore playerbase that goes on with pvp. Edit: *
